Last year the in-game announcement for Talk Like A Pirate had Friday-Tuesday in the description (5 days) but the Grogs stopped dropping after the normal "weekend" 3. Needless to say, people were kinda PO'ed at the slip-up in notification. The reasoning for the misprint was due to the automated event system and ANet not really checking up on the validity of the announcement text from week to week.
Well, this year, the in-game announcement for Talk Like A Pirate once again says Friday-Tuesday. Well, which is it, ANet? Were you actually too lazy to fix your misprint any time over the past year (despite all the backlash when it happened in 2009) or are we actually going to get 5 days of Grog drops in 2010?
Time for an official word on the matter before people get burned again. If it's just another misprint, then please get off your butts and fix the damn announcement text once and for all. If it's not, let us know it's not and we're getting 5 days of Grog drops.
Thanks.

Yeah, and we're getting a content update AND a skill update next week. Let's keep dreaming.
P
since most of the events end on monday I believe that the tuesday is still just a mis-whatever they seem to always do there at anet-up....so I would say plan on it ending monday, and if it lasts longer than be happy about it. (but dont be upset if it does indeed end on monday like all the others normally do).
I'm not an ANet employee, but I'm confident enough that it'll end at Sunday midnight to declare that the "official" version. The events have been on a predictably repeating cycle for months now; so whatever mechanism made it end on Sunday before will most likely make it so this time too. Note that the login announcements have been on a predictably repeating cycle of typoes too
.
.QFT. i wasnt really pissed last year. We got a regular weekend. So what that we didnt get monday and tuesday, we got a regular weekend event. Thats really nothing to complain about. and unless its GW:B/massive skill updates anet never checks this site to my knowledge, so i doubt they'd look at this.

Honestly, with the way that the general public treats them, I'm not at all surprised that Anet isn't putting much effort into improving the game anymore. If they put out a small update, they get grief for it not being a bigger one. If they put out a huge update, they get grief for any bugs or problems that come with it. When they fix the bugs, they get grief for having not fixed them earlier.
When they put storage panels at half off yesterday, all people were saying was that that was such a useless move, and why couldn't it be character slots instead, and goddammit Anet sucks why do people even play this game anymore. It was a goddamn favor, and people even find a reason to complain about that.
So they made a typo last year. And they may have made one again. Big freaking deal. If it was written correctly, people would just be complaining about something else here. So honestly, I'm not seeing much incentive on their part to keep doing favors for us.
At this point, any players that refuse to buy GW2 because of the lack of updates in GW1 will pretty much have little to no effect on the player base of GW2. And if your decision to buy GW2 hinges on whether or not the GW1 Live Team keeps pandering to a generally hateful populace, then all I can say is that I'm just glad I won't run across you in GW2.
Basically, what I'm saying is stop whining. It is PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE to request information on the actual duration of the event, but the OP's comment was entirely nonconstructive. It was aggressive, confrontational, hostile and bordering on threatening.
I'll end this wall of text with a note that no, I'm not affiliated with Anet in any way, nor am I a shill or whatever. I'm just someone who is not always thrilled with the way Anet does things, but who is also appreciative of the things they do do for us, and who is really really frustrated with the massive entitlement and ungratefulness of the GW population.
All I'm saying is attacking them is ridiculous and pathetic, especially for such a tiny problem as the OP's.
If you feel that much rage over a typo, you might want to seek counselling.
As with what Pinkie said above, I'll also be stearing clear cleeeeeear far away from towns to prevent myself from seeing the overly obnoxious people of GW during events like these.
As for getting an official response? Hmm... I wouldn't get your hopes up to be honest... Chances of it happening are slim-to-none.

It gives the community more rage to complain with if they fail to fix it. Not constructive or productive in the end, but it's all some people have. You of all people should know this.

Not that I disagree with what you are saying.
Doesn't something like this take all of 15 secs to change since not only is it just some text, but its also only printed on the start screen. It just shows how effin lazy Anet can be...I mean really they had a full year to change a little bit of text. But maybe anymore that is too far out of their abilities as game design/programmers.

@ the "people were kinda PO'ed at the slip-up in notification."
wait, wait... I got one.
I bought a brand new car last year. This year when the new models came out; there was a new feature that allowed the cars to get 40 miles per gallon instead of 30. I got a call from the manufacturer saying they'd like to install this new feature in my now one year old car for free. Yes FREE!
I took my car to the shop, and the guy said it would take about two hours to install. I came back two hours later, and was told it would be another 20 minutes. So I punched him in the mouth.
Moral of the story? If you need that, you're too damn dumb to talk too.
Quit being such an asshat, and show some gratitude for getting something for free. If you've been playing for over a year; you've more than gotten your money's worth. They don't owe you a damn thing.
Anet should be encouraged, not flamed.

Your analogy does not make sense.
Despite a few amount of people who do indeed follow the mindset of "I want everything and I want it now", the majority of complaints come from the fact that Anet stated/promised (An official statement can be concidered a promise?) bi-monthly skill updates, hinting at even more at the result of the Test Krewe, and quarterly large updates.
If you then calculate in the bi-monthly updates they promised about 2 years ago, aswell as the new HoH map, the many promised but buried updates, then yes, we have a reason to complain.
Anet might not have a legal obligation to roll out updates, but morally, they do. They kepts us playing Guild Wars with promises of a better Anet. So far, few of that has come to be true. The mesmer-love showed recently is barely scraping the bottom end of what I concider to be the very least they promised us.
The intire "We shall roll out more updates, launch the test krewe, ..." fiasco was a trick to keep people playing, or to even lure some people back, because they started to realize they needed a solid base community for GW2. They made some quick promises, told us what we wanted to hear, but at the end of the day were/are still as lazy/undevoted (I'll leave that in the middle) as when they stopped caring for Guild Wars. (Which is pretty much around Factions release)
People complaining now are only asking for what has been promised for years. A bit of dedication from the creator of the game, not too much to ask in my opinion. I'm not going to go over the intire "Yeah, but we have no resources"-bs. NCSoft/Anet is a multi-million dollar multinational. They made more than enough money with GW1 to hire a couple of guys. (Even one) Heck, they could even have some people devote their spare time (aka off work time) to GW, solely to show they actually give a rat's ass about the community.
