I'll make it short:
Account got hacked. Could not get into Master Account because it was also hacked. Both Passwords are unique.
Got it back after providing info to support (at least that works)
Found out that everything of value was gone. All materials, all runes and Insignias not only on my armor but also those on the heroes, all gold, all valuable minipets, all skill-tomes... the account was stripped from everything but the characters. I guess that's what you get for posting wtb unded Naga on forums, I don't know.
So, after my little rant:
Please Anet, cut yourself loose from NCSofts ridiculous security system and make sure that no Master-Account is required for Guild Wars 2.
Because if it is necessary, the next big account hack (like the one at the beginning of the year - read the thread "NCsoft takes step back in security") will only be a matter of time.
And no, before you ask, my pc was clean of any and all malicious software. I didn't change anything, I didn't download anything, I test my system almost daily and keep my AntiVir up to date. I played 5 years without an incident.
It was the NCSoft Master Account, because I could not access it anymore (my password had to be reset through support).
May all hackers rot in hell for eternity
Don't make the NCSoft Master Account a necessity for GW2 and all other games

They're at least off on the right foot by not requiring a tie to the Master Account in order to transfer rewards through their HoM system. That's not to say though that you won't just need to tie the GW2 account to a Master Account straight away to even play the game.
I am 100% for the closing of this thread because you already made this thread in the right location.

well i've been playing gw since it got out, and i've had the acount binded to NCsoft for a while and never been hacked. i might be lucky or im just carefull.
the major hack occurred more to fansites databases hacked more than anything else.
i'm not saying that i trust the NCsoft master acount, but i trust more in the info from arena net than a post in foruns from some dud that got hacked and "discovered" a way to enter as another user.
about the topic
i agree that it shouldn't be needed for the acounts to be binded to NCsoft master acount, but it might be need to associate the GW acount to the GW2.
but i would prefer a system like logging into gw and in acount option and getting some kind of 128bit encrypted unique key that i would need to insert in my gw2 acount.
its more secure that having to log in a website and binding acounts, but it might be complicated for most people.
also, if arenanet decides implement the use of autenticators, they should make a system that would verify if the real owner of the acount is the one doing the binding, i've seen to many threads on wow players finding thier acounts hacked and binded to autenticators ( trust in ArenaNET > trust in NCsoft > trust Blizzard)
