If I get a pet and don't complete the quest, then I do all the other profession quests will that pet still be there or will it be wiped with the skills.
*Edit: After a bit of perusing through google and wiki/wikia, it only confirms that a pet is kept when Profession is switched, it made no note of people who haven't taken a profession yet. So, it appears that the only way to be certain is to take the quest and see if the bear remains after. (unless someone can give a definite answer).
Pet skills and pre quests

If I remember correctly, when doing the other profession quests they give you an option to take the skills. If you don't take the skills, you can keep your bear and still do the quests. But if what you're asking is if the bear will still be linked to your skill when you get it back, I'm not sure.
This is correct. As soon as you can switch professions (much later in the campaign), and can equip Charm Animal or Comfort Animal skills again, your bear will be there. Once you have used a skill, the skill remains part of your character. The only way to remove a pet is to sell it to a Pet Tamer.
thanks for the answers!
I just needed to know because this is my perma-pre char so I was going to get the bear, then do all the lvling and whatnot for LDoA before deathlvling then do all the quests, end with ranger for second prof, then deathlvl whenever I get bored.
Now I have no fear of losing my bear when I do those redundant quests!
