dcdomo

The CPU will easily run Guild Wars.
However, the 4500M Intel IGP will struggle greatly.
I'd recommend a cheap graphics card if all you plan to run is Guild Wars.
Where are you located in the world?

tigerdirect.com or newegg.com are great places to order computer parts online, i'd go there looking for a video card.
guild wars really doesn't take much to run your old computer must've been...old ;p most modern computers should run gw with ease

lol its not really old but its just slow. have about 2GB memory with a 32-bit operating system and everytime i try to download betas or new games it would just go ridicously slow so i never even tried the better games like wow, GW, etc.
thank you ill take a look at them websites
edit: will this $50 graphic card be good enough? not just for GW but also for the better MMOs like Aion?

trying to run GW on integrated graphics is a bad idea. Your limiting factor is not the CPU. I have run GW on a T2500 before, but with ATI radeon mobile.
You probably cannot upgrade the graphics on that laptop.
It's even worse with texmod, don't even try on integrated.

thanks for your input life, what do u prefer i do?
will it not run well because of how the cpu is itself is built?

um... guys? this is a laptop. you can't upgrade it.

I should have been more precise, yes this is a laptop. I was wondering how would I get that into the laptop.
anyways will this laptop not work because of the low graphic engine?

It should run guild wars...well on the other hand is a different story.
It shouldn't even need the driver error fix that other intel GMA's needed.
But I doubt it will be able to handle max settings with playable fps, but if your just looking for playable. But, yeah, stuff...

Thanks, I really want to run it in max settings though. I found a new, more expensive laptop i was looking at and need more opinions on it. Will this work:

Basically, anything that says Intel under either of these sections. Will struggle with max settings. As far as I know. Moriz or elder or someone who has been paying more attention may have more up to date information. But as far as I know they have yet to make anything that handles GW at max settings well.
dcdomo
ok thanks guys. so basically if I get either one of these, they will run fine without much lag but will struggle with max settings correct?
I can deal with that, as long as it run. I just want to play

Snograt
It's not even a question of running it well - there are some graphically-intensive areas in the newer content that low end Intel integrated solutions won't run at all without hackage.
End
the GMA 4500M (the first setup) won't need any hackage. The second should also be just fine although I'm not 100% sure.

find something with ATI graphics or nvidia built in is your best bet
dcdomo
gotcha, thanks alot guys.
edit: last one ill put up, after this im just going to make a decision. how does this sound:
* Processor Type: AMD Athlon 64 Processors for Notebooks
* Processor Model: TF-20
* Graphics Model: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200
* Hard Drive Size: 160GB
* Memory Amount: 3GB

do not get a INTEL graphics card
DONT, really dont
the ATI3200 is a slow card, but it will run guild wars, on medium, with frame drops.
dont expect to run aion

Hey, welcome to GWGuru
Something that needs to be asked; what's your budget? It may be easier in the long run for us to suggest a laptop that will max out GW and meet your budget. With that said, I would go with the HD3200 over any of the other options. I've owned a couple motherboards with that integrated chipset and they ran GW fine on a 19" LCD (1440 x 900) with no AA and +/- 30 fps, drop the settings or the resolution and you should be fine, even in NF & EoTN.

Indeed, give us your budget and we can find you the absolute best thing within your budget for gaming.

I didn't think I would find anything with dedicated graphics card for $600 - but lo and behold I did. This will run GW1 flawlessly and ought to handle GW2 when it comes out, albeit with low to medium settings ingame.

The 600$ laptop looks great, if I cant find any cheaper that will do good for gaming I will go with that one.
Elder III
sure it will run it fine, but it's both recertified and out of stock, so it's a moot point.
dcdomo
I see. Well thanks for the help guys I have a good idea of what type of cpu i need now, think ill go hunting for something cheap but efficient tomorrow.

Well if you have a laptop already, building a desktop for less than 500 would get you max settings. IN your original post you said you didn't buy that PC yet so that means the best option is to get a desktop if possible. Why? If the graphics overheat you don't need to buy a whole need computer (or motherboard with graphics).
A good place to look for graphics performance is http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-...ist.844.0.html
If you are kind of nuts you can use this setup which is a $200 premium: http://www.notebookreview.com/defaul...phics+notebook , http://sewelldirect.com/ViDock-2-Exp...2d3232363 837

set graphics to loweset
change texture to low (not by default lowest)
u be fine
im guessing 30ish fps during battles

Agreed with LifeInfusion.
I personally do not recommend playing (hardware demanding) games at all on a laptop. A laptop is already a bunch of trouble on its own, and it tends to go bad exponentially faster when you do hardware demanding things on it. A desktop is much more sturdy in this respect, and is much cheaper to boot while being able of much better performance.

It's a bit late, but my suggestion would have been to get a Laptop that could run with specs that Eye of the North at least requires. Even down to the graphics card. If it says nVidia or ATi whatever is required, do it.
