Are the weopons still random drops in the world? do you get better ones from the (dont know what you call them) Dungons?
And last one for now can you still give good weopons that my main has piucked up and give them to an alt to use?

The best armor in terms of armor rating and price in Prophecies is in Droknars Forge but you can also get max rated armor from collectors/NPCs if you give them what they want.
Yes weapons are still random drops everywhere. There are nice skinned weapons that drop in dungeons but there is no best/better weapons other than just some looking nicer than others.
Unless the weapon is customized any of your characters can use the weapon.

As in, you can dismantle the weapons to get the mod (with a chance of the item breaking, or 0% chance of the item breaking with the use of the Perfect Salvage Kit)

In adition to what Shadow Sin said, which was all completely true, you might want to check out the guildwiki articles about getting started and about weapon modification. People tend to scam people who don't know when a mod is max making you pay too much (5k can be alot when your new to the game) for a mod otherwise worthless. I won't link to guildwiki because I know guru and guildwiki are both officially connected to anet or however you call that but I'm not sure wether they co operate with each other too. Google is your best friend!

If you are getting the other games as well, remember to link them to your original account.

Thanks for all the help guys, Thanks for helping an old player come back,
I did read that you link the new games to you account with a key you get with the game.

Droknar's Forge (and Marhan's Grotto for prestige) is where you can craft max armor in Prophecies, yes. And while you can get max rated armor from collectors in Prophecies, those won't accept insignias, so they're not technically the best armor you can get. It's often easier and faster to craft max armor in Factions (Kaineng City, where foreigners first arrive, and natives don't have to wait long to get to) or Nightfall (a "ferry" to Consulate Docks can be purchased cheaply from other players as soon as you reach Kamadan, which natives and foreigners have almost immediate access to). Sometimes campaign hopping for what you need is the sensible choice.
As for weapons, that's where I really favor collectors. It's possible to get good weapon drops from monsters, but in Prophecies and Factions the mods may not be desirable. Nightfall and EotN drops can have inscriptions added, but then you have to hunt for/purchase them, and some can be quite rare and pricey. Meanwhile, a Google search for "Guild Wars"+"<profession> collector weapons" will bring up both the official and unofficial wiki lists of all the different types of weapons you can get from collectors. It's often the cheapest and easiest way to go.
Welcome back to Tyria.

Prices don't change that often so the prices should still be good.
