So, some of us have just recently picked up GW1 because of the buzz around GW2, and likely more will do so over the months until GW2 is released.
For those of you who have played for a while, my question is:
If you were creating a brand new character with your eye set on filling up your HoM, how would you go about it? What profession would you choose? Which campaign would you start in? Which pets would be the most accessible... etc.
Before I get flamed for turning GW1 into a means to an end (HoM rewards for GW2), please let me assure you that I'm taking time to explore and enjoy the game as I go. I am curious, though, about what experienced players know about the process of filling up the HoM. I wouldn't want to finish all of the campaigns, only to find out that a particular class is pretty bad at farming, and farming is necessary to get those last few sets of armor. Or that seventy percent of the titles are best achieved by profession A and B, but almost impossible for profession D.
Thanks!
The HoM and the New Player

i would choose whatever. they all work

The great thing about GW is any profession can fill any role, providing they have the right build. No profession will find anything impossible to accomplish. I'd recommend just find one you enjoy playing, and stick with it.

In a nutshell any character can work, HOWEVER, Assassins are easy to get legendary survivor and can farm well. Ritualists work well for farming as well. May main is my sin and worked well for me.

Cool, thanks for the feedback.
I had noticed a few trends, like the prevalence of Sins in posted farming builds, or the fact that a lot of GWAMM holders seem to have it on the Warriors, and that made me think that there might be some more oriented toward gold and title farming.
I've played through Prophecies on an Ele, but I'm not really sure I like the class. I mostly alternated between fire and air for the course of the game, but I always had the strange feeling that the H/Hs (I accidentally picked up three heroes from EotN at one point) were doing all of the work.
Since it seems to be the general consensus that Caster AI>Melee AI, I've been thinking about trying a warrior or sin. On the face of it, almost all of the professions appeal to me, so I was looking for something to point me in a direction of what to try next. Hence the HoM question.

Just reset my account here to ask the same question. I'd been thinking that monks would be the best class for both soloing and group content, but evidently I was wrong o.O?

Ok... Honest opinion. Warriors have GWAMM because a lot of people love doing the Wammo with Obi thing and decking it out. Warriors had "arguably" the best weapon selection, therefor people spent lots of time with their warriors. Yada yada. Assassins also are populated with GWAMM because they are very versatile, easy to farm certain titles with, and are used in most all SC's, thus making them prime candidates for title farming.
Now my opinion. Either make a monk or an assassin. I would lean towards Monk because you will be able to tear through the campaigns super efficiently. Monks are always in high demand for missions/quests/general pve. Make a monk, and if you are going for HoM fill/GWAMM... Buy a ton of cap sigs immediately. And start at the beginning of a campaign. Go for survivor on the Monk... Then just always carry a cap sig with you, always do bonus' on missions. And you'll rack up titles fast.
Monk is a good profession in my opinion simply because groups always need monks.

As we keep saying, there is no one profession that is better than another. It mainly comes down to what you enjoy playing. If you try to get GWAMM with a profession you don't enjoy it will become a tedious chore instead of fun. This is a game; it's entertainment; it should be fun.
I am getting GWAMM on my warrior because she has been my main character for almost five years. Believe me if she had stopped being fun to play, I would have changed to one of my alternate characters (I have 10 PvE). My second in line for completed titles is my necro, who is actually about my 8th created character. But I have more fun with her than with my monk or ranger who are older but less used.

I recently convinced my friend to buy Guild Wars to play together. She's mega casual, but I think it would still be very possible to help her get at least something like 15 points in the Hall of Monuments.
Devotion - 3
Easy to get the 3 points for having 1x any, 1x rare and 1x unique (black moa).
Fellowship - 5
Easy to get the 3 points for having 1x any hero, 1x common pet, 1x rare pet (imperial phoenix) and 2 points for a total of 5 sets.
Honor - 4
You get automatically 3 points just for linking accounts, which she has. 1 point for any statue will be easy, just a guardian title. Might be too much of a grind to get 5 titles displayed here for her.
Resilience - 1
Should earn enough through the storylines to pay for at least 1 Elite set.
Valor - 3
Should be able to afford at least 1 Destroyer and 1 Oppressor's weapon.
That would be a total of 16 points, just for playing through the campaigns, with the only grind being doing all bonuses on all missions in normal mode (which should be hella easy with my help =P). And maybe a bit of extra grind to afford money for an elite set or weapon, although I could pay for that too. With 16 points you still have a decent amount of rewards, for not much work.
And for doing normal mode stuff it doesn't really matter which profession you play, even for hard mode it does not, really.

Paragon all the way!

I believe it's just because of the Warrior always being one of the most played professions.
