Why would you need to do them again to gain points for HoM ?
This thread is about HoM right? |

Ok, well to each his own, I personally rather play through the game than farm the same EotN dungeons or high end areas again and again.
For the record I actually started filling the HoM on a second account and I really don't find it too booring doing it again (compared to the above grind).

Eh?
Completing the campaigns is BY FAR the easiest part, I mean it's basically just playing the game. |
Finishing all the campaigns / chapters is only enjoyable the first time around to me, and after that I found grinding all of the HoM points to be easier than completing the game was.
30 points is far far easier to get than completing all of the chapters IMO.
Going through each campaign again is the single most boring thing to do in GW for me. I enjoy end game content like DoA, UW, FoW, even SF, but I find the missions, running to outposts and completing the quests boring.
I have an idea to run my main on my second account through EOTN using my Monk on my main account as neither have finished it yet. This will unlock two extra runs of WiK for me with one playthrough of EOTN. If only I had realised this when I completed EOTN on my other alts, I could have had lots more WIK farmed using my second account.
I want to try and get my main account up to 50 points and 30 maxed titles on my main (currently at 45 + 21), and also my second account up to 30 points, but this can wait because I wont have 2 GW2 accounts for a long time until there is something similar to the GW Complete Collection.
I think that 35 points is very easy to get as this plan on my second account shows:
http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=m...AEASAAAAACAEIA
The most time consuming parts are the 5 armors and 200 Z Keys for Eternal Zaishen Supporter, but i can easily fund that by grinding RA / AB / JQ on my main account. (ATM I'm selling every Z Key I make to fund for my Obby Armor, once I have that I start stocking up to fund my second account to a fast 30-35 points).

What it all boils down to is that what you said was kinda off topic in the context of this thread.
And you seem to really like to grind, that's fine by me.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, i just started guild wars up again after not playing for a long time (last time i played, prophecies was the only campaign).
Anyways, are you able to do the story lines for each campaign with a single character? Or will you have to start a new character to complete each campaign

I am like snuggles and I am a returning first gen GW prophecies player. Of course now, on my main account I have all the campaigns and EoTN and the bonus missions...so I am ready to start exploring. I am on both sides really, I enjoy the stories and I also enjoy just the farming side of things.
But aside from that thank very much for this guide, I am going to definitely use it to help me get through a lot of the HoM needs, while still enjoying the stories with other characters.

If the OP is updating this, i would realy recommend doing the HM mission from all these by doing the Zaishen Daily, you make zaishen money's to spend on z-key's f/e (or w/e you prefer) and it's easier to PuG in the Daily then to stand around and hoping for some-one to pass by...
Also, you need books ! make sure you get all the books you can get (takes up about 6-8 spots in inventory), these books after they have been filled give extra points towards titles, and should be mentioned in this guide, as they speed things up a lot.

For example, say you're doing a Young Heroes of Tyria book(these are best done either with a friend or on zaishen mission days). You've done Factions and Nightfall and are a Luxon, so you're r4 LB, r8 SS, and r3 Lux. For a YHoT book, the obvious choice is to fill it to maximum and turn it into Anja for the 90k allegiance points toward r4 Lux and getting the HoM statue.
However, if you're doing a Hero's Handbook the first time around in EoTN, a normal mode book gives 20k reputation points to any of the four titles. This with an added disclaimer that doesn't even appear in the game until it's too late to turn it in: beyond r8 on an EoTN title, you can no longer turn a HH into anyone, and therefore it's worthless - something that escapes even some veterans coming back to the game. So, you end up using that first NM HH book either right away or strategically to go from r7 to halfway through r8.
A lot of planning can go into getting Gods and a 50 in your HoM. The dent in your inventory/storage to hold all the books you're concurrently working on works out for you in the end by forcing you to either make storage characters which end up give you bday gifts for minis for your HoM or makes you very economical in what you save and how you save it. Or you can always buy more storage slots Overall, the space is issue is over-ridden by the ease at which you'll be getting your allegiance and rep statues/titles by using storybooks. Just be sure to think it out before turning them in.

I don't yet own Nightfall or Eye of North. I'm considering buying both games in order to make progress in the Hall of Monuments, since I'm very satisfied with pretty much everything I hear about Guild Wars 2.
My question is, can I make any progress in Guild Wars Prophecies or Factions that will help me make progress in the Hall of Monuments? I would not be surprised if the obvious answer is no, that's what I expect, but would getting characters in either of those campaigns to a certain level help me have a head start when I do choose to buy Nightfall and Eye of North? From what I understand, I have to beat the game with each profession. Does Hall of Monuments remember the progress I made before I get it? Also, I hear that Eye of North's content starts at level 10. Should I get any characters to level 10 now while acquiring the funds and making the decision on whether or not to buy the two expansions I don't have?
Finally, how much progress in the Hall of Monuments can I make without Nightfall?
Sorry if I overlooked the answers to some of these questions. I just joined these forums to ask these questions; a friend linked me to this guide when I said I was considering 'maxing' out my hall of monuments for GW2.

You cana do some of the things to earn points, but you cannot claim the points until you purchase Eye of the North.

The question is, are those 30 items worth the price of the game and all the time involved for a person who never played Guild Wars and is thinking of buying it just to get the said items?

It's worth noting that I have friends who are willing to help me, some starting from the ground up with me, and some who are already "established" in Guild Wars.

You shouldn't buy the games just for HoM, ask yourself why are you even playing the game? You should get nightfall etc anyway just for the content, the amount of content for the price of the game is definitely worth it.
Beliarchia Targon
I'm 99.9999% sure that the answer to that would be "no". But luckily, the game is worth the price of the game, if you're planning to play GW2 and have never played GW, you should play GW for its own sake, and to encounter the history and the world, not to grind out some points to get some cosmetic items for GW2.

I just wish so much of it didn't depend on hardcore grinding/farming. I wish the point distribution allowed for just playing the game through instead of points for spending millions of gold or stacks of ecto and zkeys.
I know the HoM program was designed to reward vets, but it makes it actually HARDER on new people than it was for the vets to earn the same reward. Things that were relatively cheap before HoM have now incresed in price by an order of magnitude.
I know some will just say "derp the rewards aren't for you". HoM is a brilliant marketting move...and that is it's primary function. Vets of GW1 will be motivated to buy GW2 because they have shinies waiting on them there. People interested in GW2 but not really interested in GW1 will be more likely to purchase it to get shinies for GW2.
I don't have a real solution, but I wish there were a way to level the playing feild a bit for newer players to fill their HoM.

I suppose old players had more time to get some high end armor and build up gold...but alot of the stuff is fairly new that can be used for HoM points...and the titles were added later on so they still had to grind stuff(SS, lightbringer, or any of the EoTN titles) and the Torment stuff was WAY more expensive BEFORE EoTn came out. The only advantage I see is they have more experience then a new player. But you are right in the fact that it has inticed older players to work towards a goal that will actually have a reward later on.
Ok, I see another advantage older players have...they have finished the campaigns and are able to go straight to Vanquishing areas...but I've played on and off since 2006 and haven't needed to vanquish anything to make it to 30/50....so that one is thrown out the window to.
Just play through the campaigns...and yes your going to have to grind to buy all the armor (probable at least 5 sets of high end) But what did you expect? For me that WAS and IS the fun part for me...to figure out how and what to farm, saving up the gold and working towards a goal.

Quite the same goes for a few PvP titles such as gladiator or hero( reminding you that zaishen is considered PvP for HoM..)..

What else has become more expensive? Armor? Ecto's are at their lowest atm, used to be 8-9 and even 11k at some point, now, they're 6,5k (at least when I last checked). Rubies and Sapphires stopped being 12k ea and have come down as well. Primeval armor remnants are back to 5k/ea, etc...
All the prices have settled. Nothing is more expensive than it was before the update, with the exception of rubies and sapphires, which are about double what they were before...
BenjZee
My point was you shouldnt really buy the game just for the sake of HoM, yeah the HoMs nice but don't force yourself to do it. Whilst saying this, i was saying buy all the games as the content is deffinatly worth the cheap price of the game and will give you so much content that you could enjoy for hours.

So, I have a sort of general question. I didn't really follow this guide but got up to 30/50 and am banking like 150k. Is it... worth the effort of going for the last 20 points for titles, or should I not bother wasting my time and just go back to playing the game for fun.
I feel like it's going to be impossible to get to 50 without doing a lot of the PvP achievements, which I'd need help with since I'm such a noob >.<

Plutoman
Getting to 50 requires cash, there's only one pvp achievement needed. Obsidian armor, miniatures, 15 weapons, etc.
FibberMcgee
I have 37 points. That means I have all the goodies that the titles will give you. If I reach 40 points I will be a Flameseeker instead of a Ghostly Hero. I doubt most people will be able to tell you which title goes with what number of points. If its worth the hassle to you go for the big 50 points but remember if you are a couple of weeks late in buying GW2 people will call you a noob no matter what your lofty title is.
Ria Xal
Yeah... I was thinking I'd be headed towards 45 points (Legend of the Mists is probably one of the few titles I'd use) rather than aiming for 50, since I don't actually foresee ever having the money to buy Obsidian Armor in addition to everything else.
I've just got free time, and GW2 won't be out for a bit. It seems like my best bet is to just farm money and buy the rest of the points that I can then. My alternative was to just stop at 30 and start helping newcomers get to 30 with my free time.

Nice guide
I'm shooting fo 30/50, if I have spare time I guess I may go for more points but although it would be cool to have the higher titles I don't really see too much point (unless you got special emotes or something).
I will probably just enjoy playing characters other than my main for a bit

This guide is shit and i made an account just to say that.
Why is it getting so much praise? it just tells you what you need, it doesnt at all tell you the steps to get it.
