A question about the weapons, because I can't seem to find anything anywhere.

Does anyone know whether after 15 weapons you can still add some to the HoM? (I know it seems redundant, but I'm just curious)

Yes. Meeting all of the requirements for the HoM does not prevent you from putting more stuff in.

EDIT: Try putting 'White Wasabi' into the HoM calculator if you're curious.

I am currently at 38 points in HoM and think that getting to 40 should not be too much to aspire for. Buying gold coins (for a PVP statue) will cost far more than buying mats for luxon/kurzick and obsidian armor sets, and I only have about 650 platinum at this time. My question (and hesitation) is this...

My top character is a Dervish, which obviously cannot get that armor, so If I get it for a Prophecies/Factions character and put it into the hall my dervish won't get credit (duh), but will the calculator show it for the account?

Yes, it will.

The HoM Calculator and the GW2 rewards it provides are account-wide. Any toon on your account can dedicate mini pets, elite armor, weapons and max titles in their HoM and have it count toward your total.

Do make sure your toon dedicating the Obby or Kurzick/Luxon leet armor has their HoM in "personal" view rather than "account-wide" and that you have used a Monumental tapestry in the Resilience monument (it's a common "oops").

You are far better off buying the keys as opposed to gold coins anyway, since they are cheaper than the cost of keys because they can be obtained by other methods. If you have a ranger you could also do the Zaishen elite mission each day for an easy zkey every day.

Getting two more elite armors will get me to 39 and then I can just buy a batch of (destroyer?) weapons for the last one to get to 40. I'll call it done then, I've run out of interest for much more than that...thanks guys!

I'm sitting at 17/50 right now, and seeing the end of the "just get rewards by playing" phase. It looks like my best bets are to start working on armor and weapons, now.

Can someone give a little more information on where someone who has worked through all of the campaigns, expansions, and GW:B should head next?

I've been looking through the named armor and weapons, and while reading Guru and the wiki I keep flopping between "Oh, that looks doable" and "Wow that looks like an impossible grind". It's hard to tell old (pre 7H) info and new. I see people saying most of the "endgame" dungeons/areas that used to be hard are easy now, but then see people sruggling with some of them and it looks like dozens of runs for enough mats for one armor set.

So, should a player like myself, 17 points, 30k and my 2N/2Me/2Rt/Mo build even try to tackle something like getting vabb and ob armor, or will I be grinding my brains out forever to do so?

Based on my income so far, I can't see earning enough to 120 mats at 7k a piece, which leaves me thinking that getting them from the dungeons myself is the only way to go. Or should I just be filling up my monument with the rest of the prestige armors and as many oppressor weapons as I can grind out, and ignore the biggies?

It depends on two things.

1 - How many points are you aiming for? If you only want 30 (all the non-title rewards), then you can skip all the hard/expensive ones. If you work on the titles (i.e, HM things like vanquisher and guardian) you'll collect enough money to buy other things you need as well, so you're essentially doing two things at once. You shouldn't have too much issue with that. Reaching 50 (or at least 40+) is going to take a lot more dedication.

2 - How much effort you want to put in. If you're prepared to play 12 hours a day every day then 50/50 should be easily achievable. However, most people don't do that (at least I hope not), so try to look at what's easiest and estimate what you'll realistically be able to achieve with the time you're putting in.

If you're only at 17 I'd forget about armor and weapons. They'll be at least 60k each, which is far too expensive when you look at what else is available. As I mentioned earlier, having a go at various HM missions/vanquishes would probably be a good start. It really isn't anywhere near as hard as it used to be.

This is good advice, I'd add that if you can combine the missions/vanquishes with the daily Zaishen offerings, it'll boost your income a bit. And many of them give points towards other titles, (Kurzick / Norn / Asura / etc.)

Thanks for the replies. I'm only heading for 30/50. Even getting to 20/50 will make me pretty happy. I think I've got my head sorted out, now. I'd gotten worked up to try speedbooking my way to all of the EotN reputation titles, grabbing survivor, and being able to get all of their armor.

Then I realized I was being ridiculous. There's no way I'm going to fill 20 HM Hero's Handbooks and another handful of Shiro's Return without exploding if GW2 launches mid-year. I play maybe 15 hrs a week. I think it was just a matter of finishing out all of the story content (except for WoC which I'm not sure I even want to bother with), and feeling a little lost as to what to do next. Then I realized I haven't really touched dungeons, which should be interesting to just play through without even worrying about rewards. I love the glimpse of SF that is in one of the GW2 videos, though I had no idea what it was until I started looking in to the Black Moa Chick quest.

So I launched my Black Moa Chick treasure hunt, which'll get me my unique mini and the SF title, and realized I can get enough rep to get rank 5 in Asura/Vanguard/Norn with only three NM Hero's Handbooks. After that I'm thinking I'll try my hand at vanq/carto in Cantha to build money for the cheaper armors as well as collect mats/faction for one of the Faction armors. That, or just play through dungeons to experience them and get some income in the process.

That's my current plan of attack. I'd welcome any feedback. The guides everyone has written on the HoM are really great up until a certain point, and then they tend to throw out "Oh, and pick a half dozen of the following things," with no real guidance on how the differ in cost, time, and difficulty.

Does this apply to the Kurzick armor also or will the regular armor work?

You can't add regular Kurzick or Luxon armor. It has to be "Elite."

After reading through this (amazing) thread, thank you for this, I've been thinking about buying the GW Trilogy and EotN to work through these rewards.

It seems like a hell of a challenge though. Especially for someone like me, who hasn't even played GW before (I was too caught up in WoW ).

Realistically, what are the chances of me being able to work towards 30/50 points?

Not very high I assume?

Question; I don't know if it's answered yet (don't have time to read the whole topic).
But the have to points, do you NEED TO HAVE the items, or is it enough to once have them (Like sell them again after that..)

Once you put these items in your HoM, they get dedicated, so you can't sell them after that. You don't need to keep them though, throw them away if you like

So how exactly does this work.

My main question is say I have 30/50 on one character, but I want to get 50/50(just 50/50 in GW2, not on one char in GW1). If it's easier to get certain things on a seperate character, do they all combine?

Example: Say I have a 30/50 HoM character. Then I make another character who's 20/50, would they combine to be 50/50 in the GW2 calculator? I'd assume they would need to be different achievements, but maybe some are easier to attain on other characters.

Also, you default to having 3/50 in the GW2 calculator, does that mean you could get 47/50 in HoM and have the full 50 in GW2?

the calculator is ACCOUNT WIDE--if you put in your main character (the 30) all of their accomplishments will show up.
If you want to see everything for your account--while you are playing go to the HoM talk to the historian (near where you enter/exit) and change to 'account view'.

and yes, it is easier (and necessary in some cases) to use multiple characters to get all the goals....(for example--there is no prophecies or factions armors for dervish or paragon--if you have one as a main you will need to use others to get those, likewise, rits and assassins have no prophecies armor or elite sunspear or primeval, etc)....you can not get kurzick or luxon armor for a dervish or paragon --thus not being able to get 50/50 without having a 2nd (or 3rd,4th...) character of a different class.

So, my question still is:

If you have a total of 47/50 HoM across your account, would you receive the 50/50 GW2 Title, as in the calculator? Because of the 3 points from linking accounts.

Actually, by simply having possession of Guild Wars, you automatically get those 3 points. "Linked Accounts" is in no way related to having to buy Guild Wars 2.

So in a way, both yes and no to your question.

No, if your calculator is at 47/50, you'd get 47/50 because the calculator factors in the 3 points for linking your account automatically. It's why you start at 3/50 on a new account.
