Is there a key I can press so that my toon walks/ runs next to the monster targeted?

Space only brings me in range of my weapon, but i would like to get right next to the foe for short range spells?!

Thanks.

With the monster selected, activating the short range spell will move you to cast range. A melee weapon selected will move you to point blank. There is no command as such that does it. Click on the ground near the monster may be the easiest.

If you mean by "short range spells" the spells with deal damage to foes adjacent/near to you (like Inferno, these are called PBAoEs), the only thing you can do is equipping a melee weapon - if you press space, the character will move to the target and try to hit it. The target of PBAoEs is the caster self - there's no need to run.

Note that there are also "Half Range Spells" in the game - like Dancing Daggers. They should work normally (character runs in range before casting)

Edit 1: Oh, running normally is also an obvious solution
Edit 2: If I really want to answer first I shouln't open all threads in tabs and answer 30 mins later

thx for the replies. yes, I mean the PBAoE spells. Clicking the ground is what I currently do. But I have the impression thats not always optimal to a monster running away and/ or lag or something.

No big thing, but I thought it would be handy to have a "follow key". I might try a meele wpn.

Thx

Either click next to a person to switch to a melee weapon
If go ranger rupter in RA I bring Bulls Strike or Hammer Bash for a free knockdown while close range.

For me it is 'J'. This issues a "follow" command. I'm not sure if 'J' is standard since i changed a lot in my configuration.
You should check the list of configurable commands in the Options menu [F11].
