Improve Monument of Devotion's customization options
dwchang
I did a quick search on the forums and did not see a similar suggestion so here goes:
Like a number of players this weekend, I recently dedicated quite a number of my minipets, reached the display limit (20) and realized that some of the pets I actually wanted to display were no longer displayed (unless I chose that particular year/type). I can't be the only one who just dedicated a ton of white minipets and whose unique/golds are no longer visible. With that in mind, I'd like to suggest adding Monument of Honor/Fellowship-like customization options to the Monument of Devotion. A system where the player can choose what minipets they'd like to show (and in what order).
I realize that unlike the above mentioned monuments there are 20 options (not 5) which would make it more difficult to organize so here are some further improvements to the idea:
1) Instead of "center," "right," "far left," etc. Use a simple numbering scheme where position 1 would be the front leftmost minipet and position 20 would be the back rightmost minipet. This would allow the interface to remain simple without entries like "2nd to the right" and "9th from the left," etc.
2) Since it's possible that players have dedicated > 20 minipets and listing those out would lead to a rather lengthy UI, include a sub menu system where if a player chooses "arrange display," it will first ask what position (like Honor and Fellowship do) and upon selecting the position, ask you what year pets you would like to choose from. This would help make the list of minipets not extremely long and only show ~15 or so minipets per category.
To illustrate my suggestion, here is an example of the type of UI I would suggest:
[arrange minipets]
Upon clicking the arrange option, it would ask what position you would like to edit:
[Position 1]
[Position 2]
[Position 3]
etc.
Upon clicking the position option you would be given the following options:
[1st year pets]
[2nd year pets]
etc.
Upon choosing the year, the minipets you have dedicated for that year are displayed:
[Shiro]
[Rurik]
etc.
After choosing the pet, it would go through the usual animation displaying the minipet. The user can rinse and repeat until they are happy with the display. We can also keep the "lazy" option of "display all" where the system decides.
To reiterate, I'm fairly certain I am not the only one who wishes we had the ability to customize our Monument of Devotion to display exactly what minipets we would like to show. My hope is that since the code for Honor and Fellowship already exists, this suggestion could be implemented by simply copying and editing their UIs and adding it to the Monument of Devotion.
Help a control freak out? Thoughts?

...There's 50 minipets to dedicate, plus more. Anet is bad at coding, but if they actually did this, it would be nice.

I think if they made it so that you could choose which minis to display I would be happy even if they took some out. Maybe you can only have 5-10 minis on display but they wander around the monument area instead of just sitting there?

Keep the ideas coming. Hopefully someone who matters sees it .

That's a great idea. That would make it (hopefully) even easier to implement since it'd be nearly identical to the current Monuments of Fellowship and Honor. With only 10 (or even 5) minipets, you would no longer need a more complicated position description (although I think Position 1 - 20 isn't bad).

Cant say notsigned coz its not a bad idea.
However, I dont think its that vital an idea, id rather they get gw2 out a week earlier then do this.

Especially if they made the Minis BIG!

It's no big deal because The HOM is personal ie I cannot show it off to others and to be honest the number of times I visit to gaze upon my success is zero, I go there add stuff and leave.
I know I dedicated the minis the HOM knows I dedicated them and they add towards my reward in GW2.
Oh and I still have the minis

Although I don't really care, it wouldn't hurt anyone.. so /Signed

Yeah. There's a GW1 Live Team and a GW2 Development Team so hopefully the GW1 Live Team would handle this.
I don't claim to know how difficult this would be to implement, but it seems to me that they already have a similar system implemented with the Honor/Fellowship monuments so I was hoping it wouldn't be TOO difficult to make a few tweaks to that system and implement it for the Monument of Devotion as well.
It would theoretically not impact GW2 at all so no one needs to worry about that.
