I was told that upon completion of Eotn, a convo between these 2 will trigger in HoM but nothing of that sort has happened for me. I beat the game, I even have all the primary quests checked in the hero's handbook.
Do I have to have it triggered in order to take part in War in Krtya? Or perhaps it was triggered for me long time ago (I reinstalled after not playing for some years)?
I went to the shining blade camp and dialoague 1 took place without any hitches. So I'm assuming I can proceed to do WiK?
Thanks for your help.
Conversation between Gwen and Thackery in HoM not triggering

Iuris
A) Check the wiki for the actual prerequisites.
B) Make sure you actually enter the HoM - you need to step a few steps inside the hall for Keiran to spawn, not just wait at the gate.
C) Wait for each conversation to end.

The prerequisites are to beat EoTN or Prophecies, I did both.
What do you mean by a few steps inside? I just go into HoM, meaning completely zone in.
Also add to that, Thackeray is outside ice cliff chasms for me......where he is requesting me to find him some items. Do I have to do that first?

Ah, that explains it.
You've already triggered the first dialogues. Now, you're at the stage where you need to complete the Thackeray scavenger hunt. IE, bring him candles, hard apple cider, a birthday cupcake and a drake kebob.
After you do that, you'll get one more dialogue in the HoM, and next after that Evennia should arrive asking for help.

Now you need to give him 4 specific items for Gwen's party to procede further. Those are the so called "perfect" items he wants:
- Alcohol: 1 Hard Happle Cider
- Exotic food: 1 Drake Kabob
- Sweet: 1 Birthday Cupcake
Plus:
- 6 Votive Candles
Each item will award a Wrapped Parcel containing one random item. If you want, you can also bring different items in replacement for these "perfect" items. You'll obtain a Sack of Random Junk instead and be asked for more (3 times, then Thackeray won't accept anything of that type but the perfect item).
Once you've brought him an item for each category, be it "perfect" or not, Thackeray will move on. You'll meet him in the HoM for one more final dialogue.
EDIT
As a sidenote: mind you that this part of GW:B is not part of the War in Kryta. At one point of the story, WiK and the relationship between Thackeray and Gwen intersect (if you don't watch the dialogues, you'll never get the Ebon Falcons as allies during the war, but you'll meet them during the final missions; also you never see Evennia going to the Eye of the North asking them for help), but you don't need any dialogue to trigger WiK nor to unlock the Tower.

Really? You can progress in WiK without the Falcons? I thought you needed them for the bounties ot start. Well, anyway, the OP should pay more attention

I've been doing the WiK questline with all of my characters before the requirement for the picnic were lowered (you had to bring the "perfect" items to proceed when it was first introduced), so I did it with my main, but never really bothered collecting all the items with my secondaries.
To unlock the playable content of the War, all you need is access to the Tower, which is triggered immediately after the fourth dialogue at the War Camp (Livia Recruits Zinn). Requirements for the fourth dialogue are the Trial of Zinn, plus the first two dialogues in Talmark (the third dialogue can be skipped). That's all!
Except for the missing allies in explorable, the lack of support from the Falcons doesn't affect the storyline in any way: you still meet them during the final missions (Mustering a Response) and you also regularly get the final dialogue about Langmar in the HoM at the end of the War.

I never knew that. Thanks for the info! So much easier to use ales from Nic than trying to buy hard apple ciders for my remaining characters.
