It is our pleasure to introduce Guru’s new Mumble server to the community! It’s free to use, so don’t be shy!
We’ve got some channels set up specifically for Steam users so that it’s easier for you guys to communicate with one another while playing, as well as some Guild Wars rooms for the same reason. If you’d like a specific channel created, you can send Kvinna a PM and we’ll talk and get that set up for you (for permanent channels). If you're looking for a temporary channel, your best bet would be to connect and ask if anyone is on that could set one up for you.
Permanent Channels - These can be set up for guilds and you can choose whether it's a private or public channel. If you have another good reason to have a permanent channel, let me know!
Temporary Channels - These can be used for your gaming sessions which you wish to put a password on. They'll disappear when everyone leaves the channel.
Rule enforcement will pretty much rely on a common sense – don’t be obnoxious, don’t spam. While this is an official Guru server, it’ll be treated similar to how we treat our IRC channel in regards that it’s separate from the forums.
To Connect
1. If you don’t have Mumble installed already, you can download the program here.
2. Once you have it installed, the set-up wizard will help you in making sure your mic and speakers/headphones work properly.
3. Now you can connect! Here is the server information:
Server Name: Guru Server
Server Address: 69.164.205.88
Port: 64738 (should be the default)
Username: Your Guru username
4. Accept the certificate that pops up.
5. When you’ve done all that and have successfully connected, right-click your username and register – this will link your certificate to your name so that no one else can use it on the server.
How to activate push to talk on mumble!
1. Once in go to Configure. In Configure into Settings.
2. Once in Settings go to Shortcuts.
