The HoM calculator is released and a week later they have the ZB for the Iron Forgeman, to deal with the mini-mania so people don't drop a stack of ectos on a mini Shiro (if you don't understand why, then I'm not telling you).
Then the same weekend they do AB.

Now all they need to do to rein in the economy is to have an rare drop weekend, where rare stones and ectos/shards have a higher drop rate and we'll see it settle down.

yeah honestly this is a huge over exaggeration, mini prices are high but if your patient you find people who actually have sensible prices for mini pets. And besides, mini pets should be worth a relatively substantial amount bc each one marks another year that someone has been playing the game, or an extremely rare drop from a chest. Assuming the whole point of this thread is to suggest a rare drop weekend it is 100% /notsigned. rare drops are rare drops, ectos and shards should be expensive, obsidian armor should be very prestigious, and the item marking 4 or 5 years of playing should not be going for 10-15k.

those poorman minis will go back to normal price (1-10k) in a few months. but really, even if 50 minis adds up to 100 ectos, that reallllllly isn't expensive if you play the game often or have a job in real life...

I don't see the need for the rush to max the minis, unless you have money to burn and don't want to wait. It's not like GW2 will be released this week.

I have 32 characters across 4 accounts, so getting my last 19 won't be any problem. I will more than likely be hanging out in Ascalon, selling any duplicates. My commons will not cost you an arm and a leg, just maybe your big toe. So watch for low priced minis in Ascalon starting around Thanksgiving/Christmas.

I really don't see why they would drop in price seeing as people buy them to dedicate them in HoM. You only get a mini once a year, and there more people dedicating their minis in the hall, the rarer they will get right?

Right now, minis aren't such a high price because the demand "demands" such a high price, but rather because the supply asks for such a high price.
Since day 1 HoM it has been made clear you need minipets to fill the HoM. (even the amount of them)

Right now, people are just in a frenzy state of mind because there is a low percentage (most likely the non casual players) that frantically is trying to fill their HoM. (Not realizing there still is atleast half a year to go to GW2 release) This in effect results in pretty much every seller feeling the need (demand) is ALOT higher than it is in reality.

Wait a few weeks, like common sense drip through the lesser gifted ones and minipets will drop back to their previous prices. Maybe, and that's a big one, you'll see an overal price increase of 1K per pet orso, but this will have no effect on the market whatsoever. If anything, this should plumit the high-end minipet market, as the closer GW2 comes, the more useless non-transcendant (cross over?) items become.

Then again, hardly anyone ever bought minipets for their skin anyways, rather for the value they stand for. So this might just be uphold similar to the way paper money retains it value to the regular people, even when the gold it represents (in banks) is gone.

High end economics, yo. I should play the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOin stockmarket and loose alot of money

Uh no... That is very expensive for those of us who do not farm or speed clear because we find those activities uninteresting.

I agree that mini prices will go down in the future though. I bought out a bunch of minis from auctions immediately after the update before their prices could be adjusted, but now im going to wait for awhile before i buy any more so that the prices have some time to stabilize.

The only ones that will stay inflated are the seriously limited edition pets such as destroyers, kuuna, varesh etc that there are a certain number and no more are coming.

In addition to time leading to the hype deminishing, and so the market settling - time itself brings more and more minis into the market every day, as peoples characters reach their birthdays.

I've scoured my characters for any errant whites/purples which are undedicated, I'll be trading my dupes with guildies for ones I'm missing then I'm going to wait till about February and go for max I think.

I don't think prices will stay down. As people have pointed out, we are on a countdown here and I expect a 2nd surge when the official release date is set.

Actually I put my destroyer out there to see what the market was for it and no one would even get near the list here on guru.
However it's only a gold. The market for Greens is still strong.
