How about adding a News & Articles section or subforum as we have in gw2guru. The interviews and blogs about the HoM Calculator and maxing your awards would be of interest to guru readers.

It's something we can certainly consider. I'm wondering though if we feel there's enough flow of information to warrant an entirely separate forum?

While there is not the flood of news and articles such as found in the GW2guru site, there are still articles that are more about GW1 than GW2 such as Rubi's Flameseeker Chronicles and ArenaNet news from the Live Team. This all gets lost in the Riverside threads. Riverside is meant more for discussion than news.

Buying Humps! (No kidding! Check my buy thread)

Hello Kitty Krewe [HKK] Forever!-ish

Granted, anything suggested here would require additional effort from some staff member(s.) That's not a consideration to be taken lightly!

I wouldn't mind a section like that, where you could easily go look at the more official news items without having to find it in Riverside.

Every time I read a new q/a thread that goes like, "I just started playing again after X months/years. What'd I miss?" I think it would be great to have a chronological list somewhere ... like game updates combined with press releases and maybe even some general notes on overall trends. There's only so much you can get from the wiki's game update list. For example, if you just kept up by reading game updates, you could easily miss the HoM calculator release. Such a thing would be great both for those q/a posters and for the folks who try to look up the answers to that question on their own.

Perhaps a locked sticky thread somewhere, so only mods could post replies? Maybe put it in a new subsection where folks could discuss recent changes like what happens on some Riverside threads? That's what I can think of off the top of my head ... upon further and more qualified review, it might be a bad or impossible idea.

The threads are already being created in Riverside so this wouldn't really create more work, just relocate it. Luny is correct in saying that Q&A has been flooded with both returning players and new players who are completely unaware of what has been going on. John Stumme's latest blog will have immense effect on everyone's plans for the next year, but within a week it will probably be off the first page of Riverside; replaced by complaints about Halloween changes and problems with the Costume Brawl.
I love the idea thats here tbh. If you don't mind me just throwing out there I think there may be more people then you think willing to help out with summaries. To be honest though asking for general consensi (? really whats the plural of consensus?) is a bit to much as there will always be disagreements. Look at Pink day and the pink dye traders. While 99% of the community loved it there were still a small number of posts saying they disliked it. the 7 hero party announcment also has a large number of supporters but also a number of people with tons of reasons against it. I think a better idea would be tabbing out just a few of the pros and cons like

-Pink Dye Trader Added Oct 16, 2010
-Pink Dye trader appeared in Lions Arch to conincide with Pink day in LA
Pros
-Adds in a new dye that many love
-Helps show anets support of a good cause
Cons
-Can break immersion for some players

Honestly, have people apply for a position to be in charge or keeping up with the quick look snipets. No new rights for them just work. And the fact that they have to apply makes them feel important xD win/win imo xD

As helpful as the summary list would be for all of us (posters and lurkers alike,) I do not envy the poor soul who would have to create and maintain it. This is not me volenteering to do so just me trying to throw out some support for this hoping maybe if more people say they like the idea it will happen (*cough*7 heros*cough*) as well as a little idea if it does happen for a replacment to the general consensus thingy

Sorry for interupting an otherwise 3 party conversation xD

Your input is welcome, End. This is an open discussion which is why the admins allowed it to be shown. Each viewpoint helps to refine the idea.

I hadn't really visualized anything like Luny suggested. I had in mind more like what is being done in GW2's News and Articles forum. As I said before, the number of threads will be much lower as not many people are writing about GW1, including ArenaNet. The thread turnover won't be as quick.

I don't want to create something that will cause a huge amount of work for the mods. Just an easy way for players to find out what is happening. You could make them closed threads if you preferred and let the discussion threads continue to be posted in Riverside.

Buying Humps! (No kidding! Check my buy thread)

Hello Kitty Krewe [HKK] Forever!-ish

Oh, perhaps I misunderstood from the beginning then. I hardly ever check guru2 *ashamed* so I'm not at all familiar with the example you're using.

As far as the "general consensus" concept goes, I was thinking of examples sort of like this for back when they nerfed Holy Wrath on flagged heroes ...

Game Update <enter date> with skill changes <enter link to wiki update page>
PvE: The change to Holy Wrath made "dual smite" farming with a hero as the smiter far more difficult. Many players farmed with such builds.
PvP: <insert stuff about PvP, if applicable>

For pink dye, maybe something like ...

-Pink Dye Trader Added Oct 16, 2010
-Pink Dye trader appeared in Lions Arch to coincide with Pink day in LA. The trader will be removed at the end of the month.
- Pink Dye cannot be traded between accounts or sold to the merchant. It can be mixed with other dyes. If you want pink dye, you have to get it before the end of the month.
- Most districts are overflowing with characters in pink armor after the change.
- <enter link to discussion thread(s)>

Sort of a quick/short list of the major effects/changes with handy links to appropriate further reading material for those interested. The most recent entries would be useful for folks who don't have the time to scan through Riverside all the time. The history of entries would be a great resource for folks catching up with what they missed while on a break from GW.

My sincere apologies if I came off like I was picking on you. Such was never my intention at all!

WikiAnswers says the plural of consensus is simply, consensuses. But I like your version better.
