Help with Glint's Challenge

This whole week I've been doing every challenge missions and dungeons that I have never done yet since I bought GW. Today was the first time I attempted Glint's Challenge and failed miserably. I spent like 2 hours trying to beat this mission but not once did I pass the first wave. I tried discordway, sabway, spiritway, and a whole bunch of other random builds. I get wiped in under 2 minutes for whatever builds I used. I was doing this alone with H/H because doing it alone was more of my thing.

I was doing this mission on my Mesmer main. The only other PvE character I have is my Paragon. He hasn't even stepped into EoTN yet but I can try to finish EoTN to get him to the mission if required. Can someone give me some tips on how to beat this mission?

Sabway and spiritway both work fine, you should post builds so people can help you refine them as you may just be running less efficient builds.

If you can run discord, you should be fine. I do Glint's Challenge H&H with a discord team in 20 min.

Are you making the mistake of going past the gates to get to them? You need to pretty much stay on the corner between the gates, near the baby dragon. Don't try to use split-team tactics with H&H, and don't worry about dwarves surviving.

with discord way or dual discord way you'll be fine but you honestly might be better off just buying some armor if you can afford it because your gonna be looking at 20-40 min for 1 armor unless you don't mind spending that much time for hero armor

I'd say 20-30 minutes for getting a piece of armor that otherwise costs upwards of 15k is just fine O_O

That being said, I've had a hell of a time beating this also. I've been trying with my friend, who plays a warrior, and I've been a ranger. I run splinter barrage with AAA, Technobabble, and Finish Him, and he runs an Earthshaker build normally. We've tried with two MMs, two monks, an Earth Ele, and an SS Nec, but it's just a no go. I've also tried using spiritway, but I think Chaos Storm always destroys them pretty quickly.

Maybe I should try Discordway :/

In MY opinion putting insignias which adds more armor to your heroes (and of course for yourself too) is 1 big difference to your success in battle. But that's just me. I highly suggest that tho.

I've done it on my own using discord heroes + Lo Sha, Herta, Lina and Mhenlo. Seemed to take a while though, I found it faster and more enjoyable with a good pug.

Random tips from my own experience:

1. If you're a caster, skills like Pain Inverter and Alkor's Alchemical Acid work well.

2. The destroyers are strong vs fire and weak vs cold damage, so plan a strategy around that (water/death magic, cold damage weapons, Winter etc).

3. Destroyers of Lives and Destroyers of Compassion do nasty damage and should die first whenever you see them.

4. Remember to display your deldrimor title for added bonuses vs destroyers.

discord works fine.
you need to flag and spread your heroes a bit so spirit rift cant kill them all at once and you need to have a damage dealer if you have a caster.
and earthshaker lulz. better go play an axe or sword.
if you want to do a run with me IGN= anime divine

I also find it to be sorta random. My very first time doing it with no idea what to expect, beat it.
Second time, got murdered in the first wave. Stupid henchmen.

Thanks everyone for your help. I guess I'll try Discordway again since it works for some people out there. I guess the problem with me is that I don't know where to flag my hero or the way I'm approaching this mission.

Thing is, Destroyers come from both gates. I didn't want to leave one gate unattended so I stayed in the middle. Ended up getting outnumbered 8 to 20. I seriously don't know how I am supposed to approach this.

If you have a sabway or discord team, or even just a good MM, you go near one gate and kill some of the closest destroyers while the dwarves hold the other gate. The minions will then keep things busy at the first gate for a while, giving you time to go to the second gate and do the same. It does take some running back and forth for the first wave if you're doing it H&H.

Eventually, most of the dwarves will be gone and you'll end up in the middle. But, by then you should have a ton of minions up.

Can someone post some video with a how to or just completing this mission with H/H. Seem this challenge was updated and now it's really hard even at NM. Discordway's working great with it, but i can't past 5 wave.
My henchman are lina, menhlo, earth and talon, my build was discordway caller.
Tried all other pvx teams, smiteway, mesmerway, sab and spirit.
thx

Too much healing, not enough damage, no interrupts. Try Lina, Herta, Cynn, and Zho. Discord has enough healing/protting built in that you shouldn't need both monk henchies.

I'm pretty sure Cynn wouldn't be the best choice against destroyers, unless you brought Winter.

Thx Guys,
I tried 3x Searing F. with winter . no result, chaos storm are ripping the spirits, seems the destroyer have pleasure to target spirits now . Well everyday i will try a different setup/tactic. Sometimes i can get to 5 wave easy, maybe how you call the targets make difference.
I found this pic on the net, with 2 player will be fair

I cant see how you fail the quest with a discord or sabway team. Even with just henchmen this is more than doable.

I usually play like this and has not failed me once. I start by going for the right group untill the last ranger is dead. Run back to the left and by that time the dwarf is almost dead and they start moving towards the last 2 dwarfs standing. Finish that group and run back to the right side. Take a good look at the annoying mesmers because the rest is cake.

This challenge is so easy...i did it once with me paragon running with 2 discord/MM's and one SS + henchies....

Just stay before the Dragon and let ur minions do the dirty job...spam your skills and have fun....maybe using Save yourselves could help ur team.

Meteor Shower is more useful than additional healing from Mhenlo. Destroyers are not immune to KD. But, if you don't like Cynn, bring Devona or some other damage-dealing henchie, which was the point of my advice: the team needs more damage, not more healing.

I'd rather say that Discordway heroes have enough damage and you don't want to bring more single-target damage; it's much better to have too much prot/healing than too much focused dps. On the other hand, AoE damage is VERY useful there, but i don't know if Cynn's Shower is the best against the destroyers and their mesmers/rangers/rits. I've never used Cynn there, anyway.

@down: weird builds. Very weird.

How can I setup 3 heroes + henchs from this team to beat Glints: I'm a primary necro, i think swarm and ancestor will be a nice aoe damage in glints

Maybe 3 discords with ancestor, but im pretty sure that enfeebling blood is extremally nescessary.

Finally I managed to beat glint's!!!

Were more than 50 attempts, I will share here what was the easiest way for me to meet this challenge. Henchs: lina, menhlo, earth and Lo Sha.
Best synergy builds IMHO: tried all meta and great hero teams, and others with same tactics, theres no doubt to me purpleway ruled there, but one change on the MM was vital:
[build prof=N/? name="discord orders" blo=10 death=12 sou=8][Discord][Death Nova][Putrid Bile][Masochism][Animate Bone Minions][Blood Bond][Putrid Explosion][Signet of Lost Souls][/build]
I think this challenge was updated and old tips didn't not worked anymore at least for me.

First Wave: Run to the top at right doorway (right side of the dragon), kill destroyers until the time of 50s. Run to the left doorway and kill all destroyers right back to the entrance and back again.
Tip: Do not accumulate many destroyers, because if that happens it's game over.

Sec Wave: Run to the top of the left doorway, four compassions will appear, kill them, run to the top of the right doorway, there will be four deeds, kill them and run back, alternate between the doorways, focusing on compassions because they can end the game in seconds.
Tip: Always kill first the compassions.

Third wave: Stay right in front of the dragon, for me, this is the easiest phase of the challenge. Kill everything that appears as quickly as possible.
Tip: Do not forget to call targets.

fourth wave: back to the middle of the two doorways. Keep an eye on compassions, the rest is easy.

fifth wave: This is the part where you could lose the challenge, if you do not pay attention to two things.
1. Kill the destroyers of lives fast as You Can
2. kill other destroyers as soon as you can, but stop everything you're doing, when a destroyer of lives appear to kill him.
At this stage you maybe will have some deaths, but Do not give up.
Tip: Lives first and Do not forget to call targets.
sixth wave: My God, very easy just kill the bosses as fast as you can. we dont need tips here.

Hope this help.
regards ,
Giuliano

Congratulations.

Personally, I've written off this "challenge" as more aggravating than it's worth. In the time I spent running headlong into a brick wall trying to finish it (and failing), I was able to farm up the gold needed to buy 5 Cloths outright. It would be nice to say I completed it, but I really only want the damned hero armor upgrades for my HoM.

Maybe I'll try it again when I've got more build options available. So far, I haven't been able to put together an H/H combination that can complete this. If I do come back for it, it won't be for the rewards though. I'll have long since obtained the armor upgrades I need elsewhere.

Thx. I felt same as you before I could finish glint's. It's disgusting how difficult this challenge is with H/H, hundreds of elite mobs vs 8!. You don't have Norgu? Try again using these tactics and mesmerway (purpleway) maybe you can beat. The link to mesmerway. Just set the necro like this: [build prof=N/? name="discord orders" blo=10 death=12 sou=8][Discord][Death Nova][Putrid Bile][Masochism][Animate Bone Minions][Blood Bond][Putrid Explosion][Signet of Lost Souls][/build]

*I changed my secondary profession to monk using LoD, Heal Party, Dwayna kiss, patient spirit , Signet of Lost souls and Dreldimor gaze.

...or you could farm them for sale, back when they were 15-18k each, especially if you have a second account or a friend that could just stand there doing nothing, just to get another piece of cloth.

Nope, it's not. It's awfully hard in HM, especially the first wave, but NM is a walk in the park with most decent builds and a competent player.

Hi drkn, I am in no way doubting it's easy for you, but would like to see a video of someone completing this quest easily. This will clarify how to beat this easily. I can only find videos before the last update.

It really isn't hard at all once you can set your yourself/heroes up properly.

Me: DSlash with Alkar's Achemical Acid
Razah: SoS Rit with Rit heals
Xandra: ST Rit
Olias: MB with Empathic Removal and Smites.

All you do is start fighting on one side (the one on the right) and when foes start coming from the other side, switch. The spirits and minions can hold a side long enough, and the foes tend to ball up so Acid and Splinter Weapon are massively useful in wiping them out. After the first wave you just need to watch your compass and make sure one side isn't getting overwhelmed. In the waves that are mostly comprised of melees, you can just let them come into the center area and pick them off. The only way you can really die is if you aren't paying attention and a Destroyer of Lives nukes the Dragon or you can't kill fast enough.

Hmm. Wouldn't that entail completing the challenge? I think you missed the point of my post.

I just finished one more time now, with 2 keystones mesmers and my necro config of the post above. In this second try none of my H/H lost more than half health. The spirits doesn't work anymore because chaos storm and banish strike, they go down very fast. You are right it's just change sides fast to not acumulate destroyers.
Look my setup: .
I found out that I was failing in 5 wave cause sometimes i didn't saw the lives pop out.
