New Visions and Old Promises

I dunno anymore. Either I need some coffee or I just don't have a strong enough opinion anymore.
The only thing I'm even jaded about is that Linsey said they'd get Codex matches working like Random Arenas... I could find the quote again too if I needed to... but then it never happened. So I really don't see how they have any chances of fixing scythes in a fair way (compared to 100b's), or make anything more rewarding without just adding new grinds, or how this embark beach place is going to be anything else except just another SPAM FEST of people shouting "LF 2 MONKS 2 GO"... I don't see it... And I don't think it matters anymore

Personally, I don't get all lathered up about their "broken promises" because I don't see them as promises. (Do they actually ever use the words "I promise"?)
I read their statements of "we are working on these features..." as "we intend to launch these features when they are ready..."
Yes, yes, I understand that others take these as promises, but I like my interpretation better. It leads to less heartbreak, and avoids that whole sense of entitlement. (They promised *me*, and they owe *me*...)
At least that's my take.

Chronos the Defiler
More promises, and nothing on that list is even "new" it is just "re-furbished" old content.
Changing an attribute a little bit, letting people use more heroes, these are not really new things, just slightly expanding on old stuff...
And to anyone who might think Embark Beach is "new", I bet $5 they will just stick it in the place that their failed attempt at a Xunlai Market / Auction house (2008) was not implemented: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Xunlai_Market

I don't recall them ever giving a timeline on when updates would stop or slow when you bought the game, so perhaps you should have asked before buying if you except a non-monthly-fee game to keep pumping out new content for nothing after 5 years. Sure they have said they are looking at bimonthly updates, but honestly what we're getting is still great support for an old game.

And how can you call this great support? I mean, yeah, the support could be worse (for example nothing at all), but this is simply the step above the worst support. When a support/dev team lies to the community, I simply can't grasp how you could even concider to call this great support.
I would want nothing more than for all the promised content to get implemented (mainly PvP), but the truth is that Anet is shit. Not once have to held up to their own deadlines, unless it was something trivial. (unworthy?) Every big announced update got delayed by atleast a month. Most didn't even get released at all, just saying.
If your view on the new management is still the one of: "Mah gawd Anet is so awesome", you really have been playing GW with tunnelvision over the past 5 years.

So what's the incentives to do it then?
I've been playing this game since launch and I see no point to it anymore.
Does it give us a random Elite Tome everytime we do it? ... Lot of materials? More Storage? Full con sets? Multiple lockpicks? New things that actually make our Guild halls useful? Price discounts on anything? Reputation we can exchange universally in other parts of the game? Mini pet unlocks that are earned instead of based on a Chest roll? ...or anything for that matter we can atleast redeem for more HoM points? Market/Auction Advantages? ....what is the point??

I purchased this game what... 5 years ago? Whenever it released. I bought a handful of expansions here and there and some skills sets/xunlai panes.
Total cost? Prolly 1/10 of what I would have paid if this were a subscription based game. Truth of the matter is, if they quit updating tomorrow I wouldn't be the least bit butt hurt over it. The fact that the servers are still running when I'm not actually putting out a dime is plenty for me to be thankful for. Everything else is an added bonus
