Customer support is far from it...

It seems in-game theft isn't on NCSoft's priority list. I recently had 21 ectos stolen by some jackass, but customer support said there is nothing they can do about it. Don't they realize that by doing nothing they foster that behavior and basically condone it? If I were to say something in LA along the lines of "all Russians are pedophiles", I would probably get banned for life, but if I stole something from an alliance mate...big deal. Would returning the stolen items and/or banning that punk's account really be that hard? No. I can only conclude that NCSoft is both lazy and apathetic. I might as well be playing EVE Online...

Has anyone else had poor service when it comes to NCSoft's customer service?

Its pretty hard to steal from a person in a game unless they get your account details. You must have concented to a trade with this guy which will make ncsoft less inclined to help you when there are other people with real problems that thy did not bring upon themselfs

You can report the person using the report procedure.

They may then take action against that player's account. They can only take action based on the reports, and the more reports they receive the more likely they are to take action, so yes if you make some statement in an outpost you're more likely to get a lot of reports than just doing something to one person. That isn't to say they won't investigate, but they may be alerted quicker.

They will not return 'stolen' items. One reason is how do they know the items were taken without your concent? "Oh player A stole 250 ectos" and so they give you 250 ectos, then a friend just trades the previous ones back to you. Yaaay free ectos!

That system would be open to abuse.

In the future just be more careful with who you're doing business with, people have lost a lot more than 21 ectos with their items never to be seen again. In time you'll have these ectos back, other people aren't so lucky.

I had asked the alliance if anyone had a few minutes to spare to help me transfer a few items. The chat logs clearly indicate this. The punk took the items, and logged, then placed my accounts on ignore. Granted, it was only about 100k in game, but just the fact that NCSoft would chose to do nothing boggles my mind. As I said earlier, the more they do nothing when this crap happens, the more likely it will continue to happen and in higher frequency because people know nothing will be done. I've found a new alliance since.

Why would NCSoft reward poor gaming ethics, and at the same time punish people for trusting others.? It just seems bassakwards to me.

I didn't have the chance to do the /report option because he logged immediately after I logged back in to get them back from him. I had to go through NCSoft support...which seems to have been a huge waste of time as they have switched sides from support to derailment.

Did you take a screen shot. If it is all in chat and you could present them with the evidence you may have a case. Other then that take it as a lesson learned.

NCSoft isn't punishing you for trusting others. This situation is exactly 100% your fault. Would you hand over your wallet to some random guy in the street? Sure, the alliance guy was dishonest, but you were the one who handed over the cash/items and you should have been aware of the risk you were taking. I know it sucks to get scammed but blaming NCSoft is just shifting blame from yourself.

I'm not sure the Athlon 64 could handle it...

At any rate, screw it...let's all be rotten to each other in game from this point forward. There are obviously no consequences. I look forward to ripping you all off in the near future! /endsarcasm

NCSoft is most certainly punishing trust and rewarding asinine behavior when it comes to this incident. I took a few screens, and the trade/chat logs are most likely available to NCSoft at any time they desire to look at them. What makes me laugh is that they ban people for boting and making their own money, yet allow $#!+heads to rip people off with no concern. 100% my fault for being lied to...riiiiight.

Sorry for your loss but sadly there isn't much they can do.

They can and may punish the person that ripped you off, what they do not want to do is compensate the genuine cases while opening an exploit where players can "arrange to be ripped off.

Every person in the game is a complete stranger about whom you know nothing.
Remain friendly but don't trust anyone in game to that level again.

Stating in a forum that your more than happy to rip others off from now on has just handed everyone a possible case against you.
Wonder how many people that know you and your character name have made a copy of your post, for possible future use.

1. Remove the name from your OP, it's against the rules.

2. A-Net has never restored lost items to the victim of this sort of thing, ever.

Have to agree with above posts,

1. its not NCsoft its Anet and anytransfer between palyers screenshots should always be taken.

You cannot lay the blame on anet here as....1 You are the guy who trusted the friend /ally member

so this type of thing has had many many posts over the years re scammers and what you should have did to log it so.

Never ever base any transaction on trust always log the transferby screenshots

I don't know why you're crying about this. You should never have someone over an alliance help you out with a transfer since there really is no strong "bond" like with someone you have in your guild. Even then it should be someone you know has prior credit for being trustworthy. GWx2 is simple to set up... Takes maybe 3 minutes. That way you're in control of both accounts, and don't need some random middleman. Anet won't do anything regardless of how lazy you call them.

anet just cant give back this kind of stuff, if i have 3 or 4 accounts, i could trade 1000 ecto between the 4 of them to another account, then say i got scammed, provide all the screen shots of me talking to myself, then demand i get refunded. instant profit!

the can ban 3 of my storage accounts if it means they give me 1000 ecto in return.

unfortunately there just isnt much they can do. i know 1000 ecto seems a bit extreme for the average gamer, but where do you expect them to draw the line. if someone steals 1 glittering dust, is he any less entitled to a refund than someone else?

Say that person who stole 100k from you then went and bought a minipet from somebody else with that 100k.

What is NCSoft supposed to do? "Make" 100k out of thin air, thereby causing inflation and opening the report system to abuse.
Or "steal/take" the 100k from the innocent 3rd party who sold his minipet to some random guy. Is that guy just supposed to be out of luck. What if he in turn spent that 100k on armor? Or bought something else from 3 other players. How far is NCSoft supposed to go tracking your money?

And Highlander of Alba, it is NCSoft. They handle support e-mails for GW.

If you think about it long enough, it makes perfect sense. Yeah, it sucks to be you right now. But if you think of it rationally from a system wide perspective, it makes sense.

Buyer beware

Athlon 64 can handle multiple accounts, yes. Or at least my system can do it just fine, and this computer is old.

Be more discriminating when you trust people with your goods in the future. You should learn from your mistake and move on. Check out Guild Wars Multi-Launch in the community works section of the forum. I use that to run multiple accounts.

From the sounds of it. You did something stupid now you deal with consequences. How horrible.

Merely sarcasm for effect. I still believe in honor. We are a dying breed. Gotta love how people are so apt to blame the victim these days. Anyone can be fooled. Don't take so much delight in others misfortune.

The thing is Dono, you gotta understand that ANet can't be held responsible for your actions. It isn't their fault and nor are they required to give your items back.

The issue was all a matter of trust between you and a stranger. If that was me, I would of waited for a friend to come online that I trusted or done it myself dual boxing. You just trusted the wrong person is all. Thus, it is your fault, I know how mean that sounds, but it is.

Yes, burn in hell to the ones that steal your stuff. I agree. It is very wrong of them to do that after you gave them your trust and they just stab you in the back. But it is not Anet's responsibility to refund or replace your items.

I am sorry it happened to you, and hope you learn from it and move on. Trust is hard to come by on an online game, as I have learned countless times.

There's your problem. 99% of people don't and have no problem whatsoever ripping you off. You weren't fooled by the other guy, you were fooled by yourself for truly believing everyone will be honest. People are selfish pricks, whether you like it or not you're going to have to get over it.
