Idea: team based Costume Brawl?

First thing first: at current state of CB I do not mind playing it as completely random team every time. It is still fun for me. But.

I know it was done against syncs, but at what cost?

In my opinion, CB has lost its element of competitiveness for more experienced players. The current state of CB would work for me if every GW player could have some CB experience. But there are many novice players who do not know how to play CB correctly and there is no time before battle starts to explain them rules for anyone who would like to do that.

Comparing to RA: at first look, every RA team is also random like CB, but every win gives such random team a chance to create some basic team based tactics because people are getting to know each other. There is no such option now for CB.

We have AT at Snowballs, so why we can not have AT at CB? Or maybe some possibility to start and play as a team vs other teams? Like TA in old times.

I really miss that teaming option now.

If the idea is to arrange CB in a format so that it could be played like Snowball is in an ATS, I posed that idea a long time ago here, though I didn't go very in-depth with regards to how it could be done.

Additionally, "teaming" and "syncing" are two different things. We've never had a CB for teams.

IMO, RA should use the random group mechanic after every match and award Glad points differently. This would put the "Random" back into RA. If you win a match you automatically join another random team and if you lose you have to rejoin back in the RA lobby. Give Gladiator point incentives to keep going after a win instead of seeing people win and then trying to sync again. I realize nothing is fool proof as fools will always try and cheat the system, but I think it's a step in the right direction.

Well, yes, but even "team of random strangers" after like 10+ wins becomes "more or less 'real' team". That kind of rule still works in RA for me and worked with success (before changes) in CB.

So something like a TA for costume brawl? I really like it. That way, the more competitive PvPers could have what they want in a costume brawl and the more laid back players could stick with the current format.

/signed for sure.

I really don't see why they don't do this, it would make it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Casuals get to play with casuals. More competitive players get to play with likeminded people.

CB is meant to be "lulz" its fun and funny , hence gamers point are rewarded... if those that feels there is a need to be competitive, why not go CA, HA or GvG?

i don't mind what OP said but come to think of it, this is helloween festival fun, so lets just have fun ! hence,

I totaly agree with that. If that get's implemented for random arena and you get 1 gladiator point for each win i will reconsider playing random arena again. At least people get rewarded for doing something and don't get punished because the team failed to win after the 4th win ... just because 1 person in the team had to go for his dinner or the servers were unable to load everyone on the map - it's always frustrating to win 4 times and get noting for it.

I really don't see team CB working at all.

People loved previous CB because they could sync and farm noobs for consecutive wins. They only wanted the upper hand followed by a long string of wins/rewards.

A team CB wouldn't attract the 'noobs' that syncers like to steamroll 20 to 0. You would have a much smaller population, and a few dominate teams owning all others. The wanna be consecutive seekers (syncers) might try team CB then lower their head and come back to random CB or just turn off guild wars because they can't take advantage of a GW flaw, and they can't beat the better teams. To them, I say good riddance, and to the rest of the GW community (the majority), I say welcome back! We hope you enjoy the holiday events without syncers!

Wouldnt work at all....

1 Bar will always be strong than the others.... no fun having teams of 5 sins or whatever running round = gg

needs to go back to how it was, and just get over syncers :P srsly

The bars this year seem pretty balanced. Plus, I like this years randomized format more than last year's format. TBH, I kind of hope that they impliment it in RA.

L0L! gl getting a single glad point with that system. RA is all about consecutive wins. And it was the best part of last years CB - your work with your team paid off, the effort taken to teach the random clueless noobs how to play improved the whole team's chance to make more wins. Now it's just a waste as you get to play with completely different clueless noobs in the next round.

I should have clarified. I would like this type of system for RA if the handing out of glad points was redone to account for it.

The success of the Snowball ATS is a direct counterargument to everything you've said here.

Durp.. durp..

My post was referring to the suggestion, "Or maybe some possibility to start and play as a team vs other teams?"

As if it isn't blatantly obvious that AT support for ANY format makes it popular.. thanks for your quality comment..

I don't really thing Costume Brawl should be team based.
Being team based is part of what makes Codex Arena so empty.
Not all of it, but quite a part of it.

At least for the usually costume brawl.
If you were to add an Automated Tournament version of it, then I think it's not only a good way, but the only way.
Random teams have no place in tournaments. People should know each other and be ready during tournaments. They are no 'child's play' like arenas.

That also goes for Codex Arena. The normal from the outpost could be random (but without re-randomization, just with a working anti-sync system when forming teams), and a Tournament version could be added, this time for teams only.

So, if you are just a 'casual' player or are killing some time, you go to the arena. And if you want more, you enter tournaments.
