Well technology has almost caught up and my new phone (desire HD) meets the min system requirements to run GW, (asides from a decicated gpu but has 750mb ram which is part used for graphics processing) and i was wondering what i would need to do to get guildwars to run on an android platform.

I know the practicalities of actually playing would be a different matter, but with the current tech specs i dont see why it wouldnt be possible. Its just the simple fact that i wouldnt have the first clue on how to get it to run on an android device.

You'd have to get wine running and then muck around with wine settings to get GW running under Wine. I dare say it would not be feasible to play it this way. I know lots of Linux users are able to run GW under Wine just fine but no way without a dedicated GPU your phone is going to play GW at any kind of acceptable speed.

It would be neat, just to say you got it to work. But it would god-awfully slow.

Edit: Wait a second. Now that I think about it. WINE requires an x86 architecture. You'd need a full x86 emulator since your phone isn't sporting an x86 processor. That means full emulation via something like VirtualBox running under Android. You're not going to get this to work. Sorry. Your phone has a long way to go before something like this is doable.

Now, if only ANet/NCSoft would port the GW client to Android. (Not going to happen, but I expect there to be an android/iphone app to interact with GW2 in some capacity.)

ever read .hack//Cell?
I want to play that way...tiny headset (barely more than sunglasses) with a palm size controller.

But as far as a phone, currently, I doubt its possible. You may be able to get to login and character screens, but your phone would freeze up every time you try to actually log in.

If developers were a little more open minded and developed for more than just mighty ol Microsoft, everyone could have their way. Valve took a step in the right direction with the Mac thing.

There's a demo called epic citadel for the iPhone OS platform. The graphics are almost equal to guildwars, the framerates I get are around 30 and I'm using an iPod touch with a CPU that is less than 1 ghz, 256 mb of ram and I don't even know the graphics device, if there even is one.

There is so much more then hardware capability. If you know what you doing, you can code things for just about any hardware of any speed.
