I've heard of diminishing returns when farming and I think I've seen it when farming the same area too much in a row. I know some people have strong views, I've heard that a farming penalty both does and doesn't exist. I guess I want to know:
1. Is there a farming penalty?
2. If there is and you're getting diminishing returns, how long should you wait before it goes away so you can farm the area effectively again?
(Specifically, I just learned to raptor farm and the 4-5 bags I was getting per run seem to now be down to 0-2. Some people may say this is just coincidence, but I'm not sure it is.)
How much raptor farming is too much?

Do something else besides farming. The Anti-Farming Code has kicked in for you. Wait about an hour, then do it again.
Divine Ashes
I've been getting the same thing with Vaettirs (that hasn't stopped me from getting 2 ToT stacks in two hours though >_<). Weird thing is, it seems like I'll get a stretch of 3-5 runs where I hardly get any drops at all, and then I'll have 2 or 3 really good runs of 5 or so bags and a few golds. Then that repeats over and over again..
Kojima
I get the same 3-5 runs of hardly anything even in pre-sear dye farming which never happened before.
Malis Of Monrovia
The penalty doesn't kick in for the event items (e.g. tots). Because I've been nolifing at raptors and the droprate for tots never changed. But when you farm one area consecutively for too long the normal drops will diminish of course. I just can't tell you how long exactly it'll take for the code to reset.

Certain things are exempt from the farming code:
Certain items are not affected:
Skill tomes
Scrolls
Dye
Rare materials
All rare (gold colored) items
All unique (green) items
Special event items
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Anti-farm_code
So technically raptors are done for event items, golds, possibly elite tomes(broodmother), black/white dye, scrolls(broodmother).
You should be able to farm forever.
Oh and this is why having leechers do not help with drops. They are EXEMPT.
However, they(leechers) help with zoning faster as you are always by the exit to riven earth as opposed to loading into rata and then running to that exit.

Or you could just run back into rata after the first time you exit and everytime you /resign in the next runs you would be directly at the exit to riven earth...
