Cartographing with texmod in Elona, what a mess..
Anshuri
Hi. Been playing GW for about a year but havent registere on the forums untill now ^^
Anyway, to my question. Im currently working on my Elonian cartographer title and im sitting on 99,3%. To make things easier im using texmod to help me, but the problem is that texmod shows a lot of areas on the map that i dont seem to be able to access, usually its on top of mountains and similar where texmod shows me uncoverable areas that i cant seem to uncover no matter what i do. Have tried scraping the area from all possible direction, walking backwards, spinning, you name it, but without any luck.
Another problem i have is that during Pogahn Passage mission, texmod states that the circle in the lower right corner will uncover when i watch the cutscene as partyleader. However, after having done the mission 4 times with only heroes and henches in the party, the circle is still greyed out and as far as i've noticed, no % has been given for uncovering it. Can ad that i've tried to stop the cutscene when they're on the boat to see if that would work, but it hasnt.
I basically dont have any areas left to uncover other than what i've mentioned, apart from a few very tiny strips. So i wonder if anyone has any tips on what to do about this. My fear is that i wont be able to get to 100% otherwise..
I've managed to get to 100% now. Thanks for all the tips from you guys

You can get to 100%. Every campaign has slightly over 100% to make sure everyone can get it. My suggestions are if you don't have the starting area where faction char's spawn for the first time. Uncover it when rollerbeetle racing comes around again. Also post some screenies or send them to me in a pm and I might be able to look at it and give a suggestion. Also have you done the errodan terrace bug? that gives like .5 i believe

I'm going for the obvious here, did you do the challenge mission in remains of sahalla?
@songbringer, errodan is in factions he is doing elona
If you are still in doubt post a pic and we can see things a bit better.

I'll be posting some screenshots. These "unreachable" areas are all over the map so there'll be a few images, but i'll show the "worst" places.

hehe i hate it too. According to wiki you can manage 100% and only have to map 2 of the 4 areas in the challange mission, however, since i find it so hard to get the last bit, i went and uncovered the whole thing anyway. But one thing is for sure, after im done with this, im never going back inthere again..

From the Elona cartographer topic for the poghan passage:
"Try 'fake moving' by spamming WASD during the cutscene. Also try pressing WASD and clicking Skip or pressing ESC during the cutscene. There's like a .5-1 second window in which you can control your character after you skip."

to get that percentage while doing the porghan passage mission you need to MOVE your charachter while in the boat not just watching it
Hope it helps

Can get the bit near kamadan by going into the arena there, just talk to the areana guard =]

North of Yohlon: hug the wall on Arkjok side, near the portal, but no portal gun necessary
East of Yohlon: think it's done from Gandara while vanquishing.
In problematic situations, remember to stop your character in a spot you think is best to uncover the bit. Sometimes if you're moving all the time, little bits stay grayed out and you have to completely stop and stand for a second or two.
Sahlahja is quite easy when it comes to mapping only and it can be fully mapped with no big problem. Junundu Tunnel ftw.

the spot in kondolu hamlet---is on the boat or when you zone into the keys hug the west wall up to the water.
The one by black tide den you need to go all the way to the cliffs and hug the walls on the south side (outside the north entrance).
behind grand court....leave by either exit go to the sunspear guy and go to the right of him to the water and as north as you can. (on both sides may be necessary)
In Mehanu township...while in the city hug the east/north walls...do this until you exit..if that doesnt get it you will need to go where the ele boss is and hug the walls there (to the south and east at that time)

(Edit: I see that you got it anyway (gz!) but I'll leave this post in case it helps anyone else.)
I can't say that this applies to all of your problem areas, but there's one in particular on the map above where you have some bright blue overlaying an area that won't unfog: that sideways-S shape to the left of Mihanu Township. (I know this for certain because I haven't done that area myself yet, so I can see the full unclearable area and it's exactly the same shape as yours, only mine is all black whereas yours is a mixture of two shades of blue.)
What I found on my previous cartography characters was that if you map close to a narrow permafog area from both sides, the colour of the area changes to a bright one, the same as it does if you map on either side of an area that can be cleared. Unfortunately this means that you can no longer tell whether the area underneath a bright patch is something that can be cleared or something that can't without comparing it to another map outside of game.
I hope that that explanation made sense!
