Let's face it, ToA is a high-level area. I think the Merchant there should sell Superior ID and Salvage Kits. Having to map to the GH every time I need a new one is an inconvenience which is pretty easily solvable.

So this bothers you and the fact that the merchant in ToPK doesn't have superior ID or salvage kits doesn't?

It's easier to just talk to the Merchant in ToA? Plus, my Guild has Isle of Meditation and the Merchant is in a funny place.

Who uses those? They are more expensive, and most of the time what you need is less than 25. Unless you are the kind of people that throws away stuff once identified.

If you are going somewhere else in PvE, you'll come across any other merchant. If you are opening ZChests, you won't need more than 2 normal kits.

And if you are using the kits next to the merchant, it's way better to use the normal ones. When you run out one, you get another.

Just stick with Experts, it's not that bad is it? Expert and Superior yield the same results, one of them just has more uses, and costs more.

I don't think it's a surprise to many people that the Superior is less cost effective than the Expert. Still, if they want the option, I don't see anything wrong with giving it to them.

Seems a little nitpicky imo. How much time could that possibly save you?

ToA is not a high-level area, regardless of where it leads to. It's in the middle of Kryta. UA/FoW are high-level areas and you have several outposts to choose from to get to those areas. :/ It's not a central town, it's an outpost. It'd seem a little awkward to me.

Uh, superior kits are only more expensive on a per use basis, and there's literally a 2g difference. Considered on a per inventory slot basis, they're 1/4th the price.

This is why many players, including myself, use them. I have more money than I know what to do with, but an extremely limited number of easily accessible slots. Guess which one I care more about?

As a response to the whole "middle of lowbie Kryta" thing, the vast majority of players in ToA aren't there to do their first run through Proph.

Just as another convenience thing, there really ought to be a rare mats trader in each of the UW/FOW entrance hubs, if only to make price checking more convenient.

GToB could also use a full set of merchants (sans armor, although it'd be nice to have a unique set for there), again for convenience.

What I'm getting at is that just because the older players hang out in a lowbie area, doesn't mean that ANet should change the lowbie areas to make your UW/FoW (high-level areas) runs more convenient and marginally faster. If people are that ticked about not having superior kits in their inventories, you have easy options that don't require a complicated (by comparison) fix like adding new NPCs to a lowbie outpost.

1. If you know you're going to go to FoW/UW, make sure you have your ID kits and your salvage kits either in storage or in your inventory BEFORE mapping. If you don't, zone to a town to buy one before you zone to ToA.
2. If you zone to ToA and find out you've forgotten one, tough shit? Happens to everyone. Go back and get one if you really, really want one.
3. Attempt to start a new trend where everyone leaves from Chantry of Secrets or Zin Ku Corridor because you can all buy as many ID kits and salvage kits as you want.
4. Buy the cheap kits to hold you over until you can get to an outpost to buy the superior kits.

There's not only the actual players' inconveniences to think about - but also the storylines and the lore behind the game. Like I said, it's in the middle of lowbie Kryta. Why would they have all of that in a ruined temple filled with Krytan peasants and lowly priests in the middle of a swamp?

There's no flaw here that needs to be fixed, it's just an inconvenience that actually makes sense. I'm inconvenienced that I have to travel farther on a Proph character than NF/Factions characters to get to a port town so I get a run that costs me time/money. I don't think they should implement some sort of fast-travel system for new characters to whoosh to LA just so I can get to Cantha faster and speed level to 20. It just makes sense for it to take longer since that's how Tyria is mapped out.

Uh, you don't need to add an additional merchant to enable purchases of sup kits. It's a standard merch item. They'd just have to have it in their list of items up for sale.

Besides, ToA isn't even on the standard Proph newbie route.

edit: As to the lore, I'm pretty sure that if there are room for Asura, there's room for a couple of convenient merchants. The explanation is that there's this random huge market in the middle of the wilderness and they are damn well going to trek their little butts out there and take advantage of it.

You suggested adding all sorts of additional merchants for armor and materials for convenience as well. Should've separated that comment or clarified, but it still stands.

Adding new NPCS = New merchants/traders you want.
Adding new items to merchant = Sup. kits

Still requires the game designers altering the game which is more complicated than you just mapping to your GH.

Doesn't really matter? A lot of places aren't on the "mission" route, but they're still there. May as well add superior merchants to every outpost that isn't on the main route if you're going to look at it that way since you can go into a high-level area by switching on HM. Once again, it just doesn't make sense.

That's an explanation for the Asura being in Kryta (which we already have one anyway), not for the suggested market being there. Asura don't really care about merchanting anyway, they're all about research and inventions.

And like I said before, as it is now (and has been for the past 5 years) there is no reason to put a huge market out there that would fit into the lore. Maybe in the future (when more events unfold that drastically change the world).. But as it is now, there's no reason.

Well that explains why I feel like I'm talking to a 3rd Grader.

Adding Superior Salvage/ID kits to a merchant is not a big deal. If it breaks your immersion, welp, too bad, Asura already broke mine with their stupid looking faces.

Nice attempt at a backhanded personal attack based on nothing but a pointless joke. One that makes no sense, to boot.

I think rearranging the game itself to suit someone's inability/unwillingness to press a ENTER HALL button is a bigger deal (and more childishly egocentric) than what I am suggesting.

Sorry, I really have no idea what your point was. All gamers = lazy? Not even going to go there.

I'm /leaving this before it turns into a flame-war.

As you stroll past the ragged stranger slumped over his bow you catch a faint whiff of something awful you presume is Yak dung. "Ugh, take a bath," you sneer.

"I would, good sir," he mumbles, catching your attention and you pause briefly to hear him out. "But I have no money for the inn. And were I to venture from the town to bathe in the river nearby," he coughs, "I'd surely be killed by a Bone Dragon. What with my miserable, tattered armor I couldn't even fight my way to the water's edge." He looks up at you from under his hood, face covered in muck and adds, "alms for the poor?"

Why would they have them in the middle of an arid desert visited by no living people for centuries? But the Crystal Desert merchants sell them.

Why would they have them next to an Apocalyptic vortex in an area populated entirely by undead, demons and moving rocks? But the Mouth of Torment merchant is happy to do me a deal on a Superior Salvage Kit.

And hell, if we're talking lowly peasants you don't get much more lowly than those living in the slums of Kaineng but I can buy Superior Kits in the thug-ridden sewer of Zinn Ku Corridor.

Your lore argument just doesn't hold up. And I really can't see any reason not to make the game more convenient, I mean they added more Xunlai Chests in Lion's Arch because the old ones were so out of the way. It wouldn't take up a mass of developer time to switch the merchant and really, how could it possible have a negative impact on the game?
