Hero Armour

Cosmetic or new set?

IE: I use Cloth of Brotherhood on a hero, will it's runes disappear, or will the armour simply change skin?

I guess what I'm asking is, does unlocking a new armour for your hero also give him a new armour set? Or do runes carry over?

the runes and insignia stay, just the appearance (and name) change.

Also, afterwards you can always change back and forth freely between appearances by talking to the hero armorer again.

You can also always extract runes from hero armour to change them for others and it never seems to fail or destroy the armour.

Note haven't tried this with the brotherhood armour or similar just the armour they come with when you recruit them

Doesn't matter what kind of armor they are wearing, it will never be destroyed.

It doesn't matter what armor your hero has, you can't destroy it by removing runes or insignias. This makes it handy to just swap Rune/insignia sets when needed or desired, by simply using an expert salvage kit.
