Hurray for cat ears
lyra_song
Cat eats and Goggles get a thumbs up from me.
I don't see why people think this isn't part of halloween. The festival masks tend to be nods to IRL pop-culture and such with a little guild wars twist.
You may as well complain when they add all the various in-jokes involving Serenity, or Strong Bad, or ANYTHING else for that matter.
Good to see this place hasn't changed. Some of you people have nothing better to do than complain about irrelevant things do you?

I like the ears, they go well with a pink dyed Finery dress. :3

What I love most of all is that 90% or more of the people saying "I love these hats/they have nothing to do with anime!" have anime related avatars.
Go figure...
Oh, I hate anime, and these hats. I don't care if people like them, the sad part is that I am forced to see them when I go into town. They need to add an option to turn off stupid things (I hate most of the hats in general, but I loath these ones).

I'll say again I love my cat ears. Oh and I checked with the younger generation lol and now I know I love anime too! The cat in this thread is so cute!
But as someone else said nice to see this place sure hasn't changed much lol

Maybe a ghost mask would have been better choice? It fits with the Halloween theme as well! Oh wait, a few people would probably insist that there's an obvious KKK connection instead of seeing it for what it is... a freaking ghost mask. You're complaining about black cat ears. Black... freaking... cat... ears. Not pink or purple!
I don't necessarily want to see everyone and their mom wearing a ninja mask with armor that doesn't even remotely go with it, but I have to. I choose to laugh at the fashion road-kill instead of get all worked up about it. It keeps my blood pressure at a semi-healthy level.
Requesting that they allow you to disable stuff like this just because you don't like it is selfish. They should use their resources on options like that only when cosmetic things are causing performance issues. Could you be more narrow-minded and selfish? Play in districts that aren't usually populated. That or uninstall and avoid most current games.

No idea why ppl QQ about this. Imo both goggles and cat ears are better hats than some previous ones. I like these "normal" hat rather than Charr hat, Scarecrow hat which are hard to fit with armors. These I can wear everyday.
Sytherek
I'm happy.
And WTF do goggles have to do with anime? They're steampunk -- which, by the look of things, fits VERY nicely with GW.
Heck, I'm dragging my Mesmer out of retirement just so I can get her some Norn armor to go with the goggles.
Here's my Ranger with the goggles and her Deldrimor armor:

The new hats are okay compared to last year doesn't match the really old ones though

<3 the cat ears. wish i could wear them with my glasses, but oh well. the goggles are meh for me, but -very- nice to see accessories that potentially fit in with certain armor types (unlike ye olde pumpkin head)
what's with all the angry trolls hatin on anime? it's like their childhood puppy was run over by dragonballz or something.

are they still handing them out today?

That got me to thinking that several other Ancient sets are kinda steampunky too, which led to the latest victim, my Elementalist...this dye job isn't perfect, but I'm not willing to use the black dye I'd need to get it dark enough. :P
Guy Incognito
While I'm pretty much indifferent to the cat ears, I don't see the anime connection everyone else does but that may have something to do with the fact the only anime I've ever watched was Akira and Ghost in the Shell, and I was drunk as a skunk then so remember nothing about them anyway. :P
Goggles aren't too bad, tho I think I'd prefer them if they went over the eyes instead of on the forehead. ^^

I felt that way too at first, but now that I've had time to experiment with them, I like that my characters can "wear" them while still allowing me to see their faces. Of course, the best option would be if we had two versions, one over the eyes and one not, but I think that's too much to hope for.

Pumpkin Crown
Furious Pumpkin Crown
Wicked Hat
Scarecrow Mask
Mummy Mask
Zombie Face Paint
Lupine Mask
Charr Hat (The only other one that doesn't really fit either, imo)
Skeleton Face Paint
Furrocious Ears fit to me, I guess. It's black cat ears.
The goggles, not so much. They're not really related to anything to do with Halloween except that you put on costumes, which if that's all you're relating them to - any of the masks released in Guild Wars could fit into Halloween technically. They're cool, though. I like them.
I missed the freakin' goggles, the ones I really wanted.

I think the goggles look really cool, particularly on mesmers and rangers.

Good lord people. You whined about getting another pumpkin. You whined about getting another facepaint. Now you're whining that we're getting something that's actually completely original (in GW, at least). Give it a rest already!
If you don't like them, fine, don't wear them. I sure as heck don't wear any of the pumpkins or monster masks we've traditionally gotten, so I'm glad that there is a (quite large, it seems) audience who is extremely pleased to have a few "accessory" style masks they will wear year-round.
Also, the "steampunk" attire above me suddenly makes me want to start experimenting with the goggles.

Yeah the haters are just drawing wild connections so they can hate something. Cat ears aren't even common in anime as far as I can tell. It's mostly independent anime-styled pictures that have no other connection anime (because, you know, anime is animated, not independent pictures <.<)
It's a damn shame they can't stack with normal headgear, especially spectacles and ranger masks.
http://img.imgcake.com/Garquille/gwkahdgpngve.png
Although I can't say I like either more than my standard.
http://img.imgcake.com/Garquille/gw824pngut.png
So I just photoshopped them on.
and yes the goggles look silly with glasses on
And with them over your eyes

I still want a Stormtrooper helmet tho... or maybe even a Spike helmet.
On a side note tho, I remember a Halloween party down the boozer years ago, there was a girl in a cat costume there.. if you bought her a drink you got to 'pet' her for half an hour. Good times, good times. ^^

i like the cat ears, and dont like goggles, so only got cat ears (my own choice)
whiskers would be funny with it, i agree
and yea, bunny ears for easter would be nice
and a whole bunny costume would also be nice
dont tell me its perverted, as some female ele armors are naked mostly
so a bunny outfit wouldnt be as perverted as some female ele armors, imo
i only take masks i like, whether they fit or not, and i'm not happy with goggles, and i wished for something i'd like some more
but complain? nah, i'd rather complain about paying for nice costumes, but then people tell me i'm stupid, so i better only think it
nice additions anet, and also nice to see we still get masks for free, even with all those complainers

Of the 2 this year my fav is definitely the goggles. I don't mind the ears and I see how quite a few peeps like them with their armor. Me...not so much. The goggles are nice but ya...it'd be nice if my face pattern was able to be shown at the same time (main is a Necro). The Asura pattern makes my eyes black (rather than the normal white--goggles make them white) which I think is a better contrast with my white skin and armor. Too bad I can't have it both ways. Still, I like'em.
The Drunkard
Meh, the cat ears are alright, not a fan of the goggles since they don't accept dye. I'm still waiting for a crazed clown mask to come out!
gremlin
I think if they announced that all festival masks could go in the HOM and gave 1 point each all the complaints about masks would go away.
To be replaced by requests for a masks pack to be brought out.
Anet please don't take this as a serious request.

Anet could release epicly amazing PVP/PVE balances with a side of rainbow unicorns and guru would cry about the unicorn not being rainbow enough, claiming it ruins the balances!

I really like the Cat ears (Big fan of anime cat girls :P) i was waiting years for that XD
Now all i need is a cat tail for my warrior :P
then my warrior will finally be compleet.
I like the goggles for my assasin. they look kinda cool.
dunno why people cry so much about the hats.

I hate anime but love the cat ears.
The goggles are even better, it's great to have nice looking items like this that are actually usable.

Why do people hate anime?
Skyy High
As far as I can tell, because some people get too passionate about it. Anything that someone is willing to say that they like, someone else is willing to say sucks. The stereotypes and hate just build up from there.
If anyone responds to this with "but all anime XYZ!", I'll ask you to read that last sentence. Focus on the word beginning with "s".

I came on here just to write to ANET that I *LOVE* the hats/headgear this year, and this is the first Halloween I have ever made it an issue to log on and get the hats.
I've been wishing for a pair of cat ears for Halloween for the longest time, and I was surprised by the goggles as well. I practically drooled when I first saw them and find them to be a really cool and enhancing accessory.
And I'm seconding the wtf that cat ears are somehow "weeaboo". I've been dressing up as a cat (sans facepaint, etc.) for years, and I can tell you it has nothing to do with Japan, furries/kemonomimi, or being Wapanese. Have any of you EVER gone into *any* department or retail store, gone into the Halloween section, and seen a pair of cat ears (usually on sale with a tail included) sitting on the shelf? Go into any store: Claire's, Spencer's, Amazon, Wal*mart, Hot Topic, Spirit, Target, any online or offline shop that caters to costuming--doesn't matter!--and cat ears (preferably black cats, though there are usually variants in leopard or tiger prints as well) have ALWAYS been an extremely popular Halloween accessory, even way before anime was remotely popular in the United States. Like in-game, companies generally sell these accessories without facepaint and without a full-costume leotard/bodysuit included--the ears and tail is exactly what you get in real-life as well. People who are saying these are somehow weeaboo or only made to appease furries, or that the hat is not really a costume because there's no facepaint or bodysuit included, really need to go out beyond three feet of their keyboard next Halloween and go look at all the decorations. Look at the trick-or-treaters who go around as well. Specifically just the cat ears themselves have been extremely popular for years, way beyond the influence of anime or the furry subculture, and yes, they count as being a costume even if you aren't 100% completely dolled up.

I really like this year's hats, too. While I do have some minor complaints about them (usual grumblings about being unable to dye them, that the kitty ears look kinda like painted plastic and lack detail, and that we can't show our normal headgear with them), overall, they're among not only my favorite festival hats we've gotten, but among my favorite headgear, period, in the game. I actually love that the goggles aren't over the eyes, and I'm glad that the kitty ears don't have make-up or whiskers or whatever with them. They're pretty cool head accessories, and they're great on several of my characters.

Witches are a part of halloween (as far as the modern part) and witches are steriotyped with a black cat. And last time i checked most cats have earzz.
^Agreed. Also whoever says catears are for furries need to logg off the internet. Have they even SEEN WHAT FURRIES LOOK LIKE? Furries and nekos ARE VERY DIFFERENT! Thanks alot! I would know this. Yes, nekos which this can be related to is very popular in japan but so is any other kind of animal features on characters, and is also popular all around the world! I'm from norway and not before a few years ago anime got popular and it's still not even that popular in a way that any store has it!

People are entitled to opinions. o_O Not sure why other people jump on the bandwagon of calling out those of us who don't like the one/all of the hats as "whiners" or "haters". They're saying they don't like them + telling why they don't like them. If they just posted "THEY SUCK!!!" and didn't say why, they'd probably get called out as well. I don't like the goggles because they don't fit into the Halloween spirit. Some people don't like the cat ears because it reminds them of ... well, people that annoy them/that they make fun of.

I find it really odd how people are getting so bent out of shape over this years hat.. particularly the ears.
As i've said, they aren't my thing but I have no problem with others liking them. For christs sake people, it's cat ears in a bloody video game not the end of the world!!
