Halloween Quests

Did i miss something or did the story not end? The mad king did not make a permanent return.

That's it. It was just kind of odd storytelling with these quests. Not much of a climax or ending.

Yeah I was disappointed in this as well. Arenanet seems to have a knack for not resolving their plotlines.

yup I was lost also, thought there would be more to it.

I'm hoping that something is still coming...or that at least something will come in the near future. Maybe they'll make the mad king an NPC in the meantime.

I was hoping the lore would give a reason to keep Costume Brawl around for longer than just over Halloween. The King's return isn't 100% permeable to game, but this extra part stays in year-round.
I do acknowledge that many people want Costume Brawl as a permanent addition, and also noticed that just as many declared that they hated it once they played a few rounds this year.

Dhuum didn't come out immediately last year so maybe something is still coming?

All I cared is that I made 500K on ToT bag sales.
Neith
Yeah but you had the waiting game that gave us Dhuum....so yeah need more stuffs in game please.
Errant Venture
Iirc Dhuum didn't come until after halloween ended last year. I'm thinking an update with skills + new mad king content in the next 2 weeks is probably likely

John Stumme told the TK that these quests were foreshadowing what would happen next year;

In reference to these quotes:
Subtle hints that were apparently too subtle :P

Well they would have been less subtle if the quests led up to something hardcore and it felt like an accomplishment to finish, but it seemed like we were still in the process of doing lead-in fluff when it just stopped. Whatever. Don't really care as long as the next GWB starts soon.

Not so much that they were subtle, IMO... To me, it was more a matter of, "There's no way they'd end this year's stuff so disappointingly to drag it out THAT long... Right!?"
But alas, they did...
As I'd said before, I was under no illusion that we'd be getting a year-round Thorn, but I'd hoped the quests would have revealed we'd weakened the seals holding back a certain OTHER "Mad" individual...

To be fair, I read it more along the lines of "well, it will work next time" kinda like what some crazy person says everytime something doesn't work.

I do have to agree, I'm surprised that there wasn't some sort of finale to the events. Something along the lines of "OKAY THE SEALS ARE BROKEN! Let's try the big break out from the underworld Now!" and then have it fail, just to bring a little bit of closure to these quests, and then next year do the real break out. As it is (while I loved them ) it seemed like we stopped in the middle of the story that we apparently won't get a climax or an ending to until next year.
The quests were fun though!
I have to say that's how I read those at first as well, then after reading what Konig said those statements fell into place..
