Thinking of returning to GW, how is activity?
gobla
Hey all.
With GW2 looming on the horizon I've been thinking about going to back to GW to get the HoM done and just enjoy the experience.
Since I've been gone for what I think has been 2 years ( did complete NF, but quit GW before EotN came out. ) I was planning on starting a totally new character to just get into the game again and enjoy the storylines.
I was hoping to start with prophecies as I quite like ascalon ( before the disaster thingy, sundering was it called? ) and imho the prophecies storyline definitely is the best.
However I'm worried that most of the storyline content will be abandoned by other players. So my question is how active are all the missions?
If very active I'll start with prophecies to get the ascalon experience.
If not that active but still some people there I'll probably start with NF so that I can atleast enjoy the company of my heroes.
If totally abandoned I may not bother at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly you probably won't find very many people interested in taking their time through the early missions. There are new players coming in and people coming back due to the HoM but for the most part people have played though the early stuff so much they tend to not spend much time on it (especially in Prophecies where level progression is slow). Imo if you want to come back and play with other people it would be a good idea to seek other people with the same interests as you and add them to your friends list and play together when you're both online rather than expecting to be able to find new people around for each quest/mission. Guildies work too if you join a guild with newer/friendly players in them.
PS: If you're thinking about playing again you might as well. Even if the game is more dead than you'd like you can just stop. It's not like you're paying anything.
PSS: It's called the searing.

Well.. There usually aren't many people in missions and even when there are, most believe that anybody whom they don't know is a noob retard which makes them prefer not to group with people but rather with heroes... In any case, I'd love to create a new char and play through prophs with ya
PS: I'm GMT+2 so if you aren't from europe it prolly won't work..
PSS: My in game name (IGN) is "Archress Shayleigh". Give me a PM if u need help.

Hmm... well you can do everything with discord heroes. So missions are empty most of them. Filling HoM is made very easy by A-net should take a day or 2 to get to 30/50 from scrap. And were the people are is also to much rage/hate ego people accept maybe pre searing but thats more for in-game social works instead of playing.
Your prop best off filling HoM with your H/H team and then wait a few years till GW2 is finally released.

Gobla, what makes sense is get EoTN. Take your Nightfall hero and go over to the Hall of Monuments in Eye of the North. You get there right away. Do all the main quest line in EoTN. This will not take long.
Now you will have all the tapestries (categories) open in your Hall of Monuments. It will not take that long to at least qualify for the vet armor and a few items. Heck, if you really get hot about it, it will not be that hard to hit 30/50 and have all the vet goodies in GW 2.
Go http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-gam...-of-monuments/ and you can see the calculator.

Hmmm... Not sure how I like the idea of going with my existing heroes. Not really a roleplayer but I do like to stay in touch with my character and if I've not played them for a while they stop feeling like my characters.
Besides, it will be fun to see if this time I can play any other class then monk :P. In most games I hate healers, what I remember from GW is that after having played a monk no class even felt half as cool.
Ow and a final question before I decide: How's the Assassin class faring? I remember really liking the concept of the assassin with the teleports and attack chains but I also remember them not really being worth playing in PvE due to low survivability, no AoE and probably some other things.
As to the people offering to play together. If I decide to go for it and buy EotN ill definitely give you a call. Can't say I'm a hardcore player but I am a bit of an achiever so if I go for it then Ill probably play this for quite a while at the expense of other games.

You'll find most of the game empty. They're working on a new outpost called Embark Beach where you can look for people for any mission... I'd wait for that.

That, and 7 heroes. I'm so excited to try out my full team of heroes. I get to see just how effective my team build theories work out. It'll be amazing!

Wow those updates sound pretty awesome. May be a good idea to wait for that. Would definitely make starting in NF more exciting.
Any idea on when that update will come?

I wouldn't wait for that update. Who knows when/if it will happen? Besides, you can H/H through the game just fine now. We've been seeing "retired" guildies coming back and have added a few new players to our ranks as well, so there are some out there.
Assassins: They've changed a lot over the years. They are/were the elite tank and farmer, they have multiple AoE attacks now, and numerous boosts for survivability. Many builds don't use daggers (scythes are common) but of course you don't have to play the perfect/popular build to succeed.
If you've played a character through the three chapters, then it is definitely to your advantage to play it through EOTN so you can record all of it's accomplishments. But like you're planning, I'd probably do the same thing, start fresh. But do go back and carry that toon through since it has accomplished so much.

I would help with the Thirsty River Mission and Thunderhead Keep as those two are my favorites.
LifeInfusion
Anything not a zaishen mission/bounty , DoA/FoW/UW (Speedclear mainly), or Wanted (war in kryta) is pretty much empty.

If you like dungeons/bounties etc. things are hopping. lots more activity as of late. if you are looking to do thunderhead keep and can't beat it or similar missions without human help then stay away.

If you're looking for some groups I have to seriously recommend you hop on the Guru Community mumble. The last few days we've plowed through missions and quests, even full 12 man Urgoz.
