30/50 HoM in 2 days, from scratch. Is it a lie?
Black Metal
well, the way I got my 2nd acct to 30 easily is simply by using that acct as a gold and extra minis mule, so I just bought the stuff I needed, had 1 main to get the easy titles. I'd *hardly* call that from scrap, as my 2nd acct had a rich uncle.
A person who only had the know-how, but no outside help, and started with a new CD-key, it would be virtually impossible.
I'd like to hear "To Chicken To Die"'s methodology on this, I think some important things are not being mentioned.

Money makes the world go round. Plus, there are a lot of easy things to do. I can at least see getting to 20 in two days.

Already generally agreed. But we already figured that out, and most posters of the thread agree that having several million does not fit the "from scratch" part of the statement. Earning several million, now that's a different matter.
Well, yes, please, I would. Also, a list of sellers, because I still need 27 minis for my last 3 points. I've certainly seen the prices rise significantly these days.
Ok, here's my offer: record it, and I promise not only to watch, but also pay you 100k reward for showing me how it's done. Never mind that the first time, you also need to actually do the primary quests, too. If you accept, let me know so I reserve the funds. EDIT: offer now retracted due to no takers. I've got better uses for the 100k that's been sitting in my inventory.

False. Let me know if you want an explanation as well. |

Why are people always commenting about buying points & titles? Are there really that many that actually bought/buy their achievements? I'm not asking rhetorically, I'm curious. It's just that I haven't bought a single thing for any title or point on my main - other than occassionally some materials for crafting armors & weapons of course. I always assumed that was the norm. It doesn't make sense to me most of the time to buy stuff. Take the hero armors for instance - I needed 3 more ancient armors when the calculator went up. I did one run through the challenge and got 4 remnants. It probably would have taken me longer to find 3 for sale and spend XXk on than do it myself.

I agree that 30 in 2 days is not doable. But 30 in a week you must admit certainly is doable for the vets

Problem is, we the vets have already done everything. To us, who have already done it, it's easy. So people keep saying "not enough reward for REAL achievements" or "it's so easy to do" and forgetting that we are few.
See, I am in a small, mostly inactive guild. And I HoM checked the people I used to play with. Guess what? Only a few are in the twenties. Most are in their teens.
And we have a few new players. Players who have been working on the HoM for a month now, and who are struggling to get anywhere. I often help them, organizing their first visit to FoW or Slaver's exile, lending a material or two for their first elite armor and so on (to bad I'm kinda broke by now due to zaishen).
And I feel the "hardcores" who say "it's too easy" are being (__.__) to these people.

As one guy who started in the teens when HoM came out, and then went into the twenties just by actually displaying my main's statues, displaying the already uparmored heroes, displaying the minipets I kept because I liked them... Of course, and then just used up resources I already had to get to the current 47 (the Zaishen title cost me most of my money)...

But i havent played THAT hardcore. Its stupid that i get the same things as my friend who has max treasure hunter wisdom lucky unlucky etc. The point is not to give everyone 30 items (imho). It should reward people who worked harder. If you didnt play much on gw1 (such as OP: only finished one campaign) you dont deserve much for gw2. Currently other than 2 little titles the really hardcore players got nothing over someone who hardly did anything. And even then it doesnt scale between GWAMM and someone with all acc wide titles. Ah well it wont matter anyway: GW2 items will be more popular than the carried over titles and items. The HoM items are so easy to get theyll just be like the /bonus items from the game of the year edition: Worthless and everybody has them.

What i mean to say is i dont like the mentality of "lets just hand it in for free to everyone!". I wouldnt mind if it scaled better, even if that meant there would be people that would get more than me, simple because it would be fair. Ah well there would have been a riot if they had done that though, people wanting to have EVERYTHING per se, resulting in it being so easy to get everyone has it and thus is worthless

Same goes for any other reward that was hard to achieve in the old days, like FoW-armor. It took me considerable effort getting the complete set with ecto @ 15k each. Nowadays you can get the set for half the price. Does it lessen my achievement? Not according to me. Is everyone walking around with FoW-armor? Possibly. Is my FoW-armor worthless nowadays? Of course it isn't.
That's why it is a good thing to cater to the 'casuals'. It is up to the hardcores to nurture their own sense of achievement, instead of begging Anet to give them a pat on the head and a shiny.

OP's question has been answered, and as this thread is now degressing/side-tracking..
If you want to discuss "casual" or "hardcore" or how easy/hard it is to get 30/50 and/or 50/50.. please take it to riverside & the thread(s) there regarding this.
