Hi i was just wondering about these Axes, this isn't a price check question but what is the difference between a Tyrian Req9 Serpent Axe thats 15^50 and a Tyrian Serpent Axe Req 9 *Inscribable* 15^50

the one without the inscription is presumably really rare? like 1700e (so i've seen on a high end thread) and a inscribable one with the same skin same stats would sell for hella less like 10k? kinda confused, maybe its a noob question but i'm curious.

Thanks!

I believe that the difference is the tyrian (non inscription) has a larger axe head than the inscription variation ( let me know if its incorrect) and that they are common drops , also the chances of getting a q9 15^50 tyrian non inscription is well very small indeed, I could be wrong but in all my years of farming i have never seen a max one.

Well, the obvious difference is that one is inscribable and the other is not.

What this means in value terms is that the ones that are not inscribable are a lot rare, specially with max stats and low requirement. Where as the Inscribable ones will be dropping from the Zaishen Chest and presumably UW/FoW End Chests as these are the only sources of inscribable Tyrian Skins that I know of.
If the Serpent Axe also drops in Eye of the North areas then that will be inscribable and of course be a lot easier to come by than a non-inscribable variant.

There is no difference in the stats of the items, both are going to do the same damage and have the same apperance, just to some people (mainly collectors) pefer non-inscribable versions of weapons as they are lot rarer because not only do you have to find the perfect skin and requirement but the perfect mod as well. Where as with inscribables you could get a req9 max damage but with a rubbish inscription and just replace it for a 'perfect' weapon.

Someone else will probably provide a more consice description for you but essentially, yes non-inscribables that are of good stats are a lot rarer than an inscribable variety and therefore carry more value.

Price = rarity (or vanity)

q9 15^50 Tyrian Serpent axe drop rate is probably about 0.001% = RARE & Expensive (to a collector)
q9 15^50 Canthan Serpent axe drop rate is about 0.1% = rare & moderate expense (Collector)
q9 inscribable Serpent Axe drop "dime a dozen" = not rare and cheap (as you can perfect mod the axe to however you want)

When it comes to the expense of an item it is about collectability! it has nothing to do with the stats per-se as you can mod ANY inscribable weapon to give the stats you crave.

Basically, if you have the money in game and have nothing better to do then why not try and buy these rare items for yourself.

People like to whine & complain about the prices of thing, but they forget you are NOT buying a perfect weapon as such, you are buying an item that is an incredibly rare drop, they are not bought because a person wants a 15^50 axe, they are bought because it is likely to be one of a very very VERY small number of perfect tyrian drops.

That should explain why people pay what they pay & prices are what they are for certain items, NO ONE has to pay silly prices for perfect weapons as you ca just buy inscribables, but if you want a piece that has unmodifiable perfet base stats then expect to pay with purple poo everytime!

Canthan Serpent axe, Not so rare, Still drop able, But non isncriable = Collectors might pay little, not much, below 100k

Insc serpent axe, Still Drops. Common, Worth nothing

Tyrian Serpent axe non inscriable (Bigger skin then canthan): No longer possible get ingame = Rare, Collectibily etc = Worth alot
