First, I am new to GW and am having a blast. Nice community.

Second, I have my level 20 rit in Kuzik territory and am pining for the armor. Pricey however (~48k all-in for the set including the inks and ambers)...Is it better to farm the inks and ambers or just wait until gold accumulates from playing? I am 1/3 there lol.

Thanks.

Buy ink / craft ink.
Create a PvP character and play competitive missions - Jade Quarry or Fort Aspenwood. Accumulate faction that way. Turn in faction for amber.

That would seem to be the way if your into pvp.
If not then farming for money is easier that farming for Amber.

I am currently trying to get Jadite for the Luxon armour and a lot of work has got me to 24 out of 80.
I think it will be a lor easier getting to 80k and buying it.

tried salvaging every Jade and Amber weapon that dropped but never got a single piece of either so probably a very low chance there.

I am not much of a PvP guy but I really liked Fort Aspenwood, except for the afk-ers. I was pretty addicted for a while and easily got above 100 Jadite.

I guess it really all depends upon you, there is no right answer, give Fort Asp and the Quarry a couple of tries, if you like it keep doing it

If you don't go back to farming ISK.

Figure out what works for you

You can also do Urgoz Warren and get a couple Amber Chunks there

And, in the meanwhile, you get a title for your HoM.

You might even consider just continuing the game in "normal" fashion. If you take your Shiro's Return book along with you for each of the missions and turn it in at the end of Factions it will be a nice boost to allegiance faction and money both. At that point you'll also be able add the option to vanquish in Kurzick territory for nice bonuses to your faction which you can trade for amber all the while earning points toward the Kurzick statue and improving your Kurzick PvE skills.

Ways to earn Kurzick Faction:

1. Buy bonus from Kurzick priest at shrine outside town/outpost which will earn you 10pts per kill in that explorable area
2. Get your Shiro's Return book filled and turn in to the Kurzick NPC. Gorani is found in Kaineng Center at the rear of the quartermasters area.
2. Play Jade Quarry/Fort Aspenwood with a PvE or PvP character
3. Do any Zaishen Mission, Bounty or Combat that gives Kurzick Faction

The Zaishen Dailies list can be found here on the wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Daily_activities . The next one that would give Kurzick Faction would be on the 16th when Fort Aspenwood is the Combat. This awards 5k faction for 3 wins and is repeatable. Get your reward and rezone to get the Combat quest again. Note that only Combat is repeatable on the same character.

FYI - Turning in the book only applies to your title, it doesn't give you faction to spend.

If you have multiple toons, then run each one through all the Kurzick quests with the bounties in place. Faction adds up pretty fast that way.

Note that for the HoM you don't need to include the head piece. So a set of elite kurzick needs 70 amber instead of 80. Of course, if you want the hat, then you pay for it. I rarely display mine anyway so didn't bother.

Yeah, there's a reason the hardcore PvP'ers look down on JQ/FA -- it's very PvE-friendly. I suggest one tries different professions/builds in each. Some roles are stronger than others in there. It really is a ridiculously fast way to earn amber or jade. Especially next weekend, should be double faction in CMs.
