Character Naming

Not sure if this is the place to ask this question but o well here it is.

So I own 4 accounts and one of them is a brand new account and I'm wanting to use a character name off of one of the older accounts. I deleted the character but every time I try to make a character on my new account it tells me that the name is still in use. Are names permanently tied to one account are is there a grace period I have to wait tell I can remake using that name? I really don't want to lose my name. -thanks

There is a period during which the name is reserved for the account it was deleted from before it can be used by other accounts. I've heard it's one hour from some people and 24 hours from others.

Ive been asking around in chat and it seems most people think 12 hours. thank you for your fast reply.

I've done that myself before and was able to use that name the next morning - so it's def. < 24 hrs.

I've had this happen some cases i've had to wait 24 hours. other times i was able to log completely of the account and then reuse it on my other account immediately. But I would say it's a 24 hour time frame to be on the safe side.

This is from the wiki: A name is reserved for an account upon deletion for this period, in case you want to keep the name for another character (as in re-rolling a PvP character to a different profession).
