Hello,

We have not received any new information on the issue at this time. As stated before, the Development Team is aware of the issue and it's up to them whether or not it will be fix and when it will be fixed. We do not have a specific time frame for a fix to this issue.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,
GM

Hi, I was just wondering, after it being about a month now, if there is going to be a fix for the problem I described. I am not looking for a time frame, just a simple yes or no answer... I would like to know because if there isn't I can stop displaying the disappointing version of the costume product.

I guess one can assume that the Development team has degraded to the point where it needs to release sub standard costume products and will continue to do so for the sole sake of revenue...which would be fine if they maintained a certain quality but they do not.

This is the virtual equivalent of buying a action figure toy at the store advertised as the best quality ("coolest") ever made... looks great in the package... then you open it and it falls apart because all the parts were put together with cheap glue...you are the sub standard 3rd world manufacture of products to your own game Guild Wars Development Team. This is the first and last costume product i will ever buy, and will certainly discourage others from purchasing future products.

"Pre-nerf" is incorrect. It's pre-buff.

The have a nerve asking for money for these costumes. I bought the halloween set and the Lunatic Court Finery has 'holes' on lines and around the edges when anti-aliasing is enabled so it's like the costume is glistening while moving.

The tuxedos in the wedding pack have the same white holes around the details. It's very noticable and distracting.

I've seen this on most new eye of the north models. Something in their modeling is causing issues for certain video cards with AA on (ATI?). Would hope this can be fixed at something other than the model level.

I'm using an ATI card with 4x AA enabled and this does affect the female mesmer Asura armour too (and also the Shining Blade costume).

How do I go about fixing this?

As far as I know, you can't. Has been like this ever since EotN (~3 years).

I wouldn't normally complain but on this occasion they're asking a fair bit of money for something purely aesthetic - which is fine - but it can't be visually defective given the above.

I also have an Nvidia card but I know people using ATI that also have the same problems. Oddly enough, I've also been noticing the glistening edges on some Aion and Left4Dead 2 models and it's not nearly as distracting for some reason. It's definitely something you can't unsee once you see it, but it's just not as obnoxious in those games.

I'm a bit concerned about the fact that they continue releasing costume packs without bothering to properly fix the problems with previous ones. There are still obvious flaws with some of the costumes and I can almost promise you that a new set will be available when the Wintersday festivities begin. No doubt they will also have several glitches and only couple of them will be addressed before the next pack is released. That's not cool.

My monk still has a gaping hole in her crotch while wearing the Lich costume and the sheer fabric is a flat black mess on every profession except monk and ritualist. I have given up hope on getting new content that doesn't sparkle.

I would be less annoyed if we had the option to purchase these things with in-game money.

oooh snap. no you didn't.

I won't buy another costume. I could MAYBE understand it if they were free, but they weren't. We PAID for them. Since I paid for them, I have every right to expect them to be of good quality, and to expect fast fixes to issues with them. I got neither. So yeah, no more money out of my wallet for future costumes.

it's about after wik new update that background, loading screen and armor/dress have a very bad resolution un my pc...and i don't think that it's a graphic card error because the skill icon and building texture are ok...

went around and looked at peoples armors after i read this... it does seem like just about every eye of the north armor (which is just sad because there remakes of previous armor) and every costume has this issue to a particular degree... the shining blade, lunatic, and male wedding costumes are the worst examples and is remediable by taking AA off...

every other armor pre-eotn era is flawless with AA on, thus is not a graphic card issue... which leads me to believe that these problems may be a competency issue of the graphic designer that may have taken over around the release of EOTN... maybe not just unwillingness to address the problem... i hope we got someone better working on gw2.. because glistening white nothingness around everything would get annoying if it was on anything and everything.

Just to throw my two cents in (and bump the thread)... Of course I'm not an texture artist, so I don't know the methods armors in EOTN or pre-EOTN were made, but whole EOTN was created with the use of newer shaders and other tools to make those instances look even better.
It's just my personal preference, but I like the way the "old" armors were made, even if most of those textures disappeared under water or behind other specific textures (grass, leafs, similar 2d textures). In EOTN armors (and some costumes) the "gloss" on of the textures is visible only when: in character selection screen, dye preview, RARELY in instances, or always when you look up - like the source of light was only directly above character's head and only when you look up to the sky from under character's feet. Overall, almost all of those armor sets look matte (with exceptions like ritualist's asuran or dapper tuxedo and few others). I too always thought it's a matter of graphics I'm using (ATI).
The same armors/costumes (sometimes weapons) have the "white edges" or "red pixels" issue so I accepted that, considering the use of newer tools will make the newer additions look better (we must agree EOTN instances look great) with a sacrifice of something else. But now, yeah, I'll wait longer before I decide to buy any costume.

Thanks Anet for fixing the dye-able areas on the wings on my costume...

but...

The movement layer that makes the wings looks like feathers and not black shells is still missing.... difference still can be clearly seen comparing male Mesmer wings to that of other classes....

So in another month can you fix this... pretty please?

I took a closer look at the fix they had put in the Dec. 16 Update...

There is still a visible resolution and movement difference between Male Mesmer wings (which represent what wings looked liked before the first Nov. 12 Fix) and all other male classes... Below is an image of my warrior with a section enlarged to show the difference in quality.... I wish i could make animations to show that the Mesmer wings move like feathers and other classes wings do not making them looks like shells.

Not only do they have better texture quality the wings on the Mesmer are fuller and larger. To show that this isn't just a difference in class, below is a picture of my warrior wearing the costume the way it was when it was released compared to what the costume looks like now.

The Pre-Nov. 12th version of the costume is what I expect to see when it is fixed because it is what I paid for.

And remember the white lines and clipped edges on the wings issue viewable at certain angles and distances... Anets whole reason for messing with the quality of the wings in the first place? there back now and on more classes than the initial release version... I don't know how knowing that they did not restore the gloss or movement layers on other classes.

This could be upsetting having the costume worst off than what it was almost 2 months ago at initial release... but I'm starting find the incompetence of half ass quality products laughable considering the new Balthazar costume has the worst white AA clipping errors i have ever seen.

So how about kicking the Lich costume back to the initial release version Anet?.. when it looked better and there was less problems.. because lets face it...when you try to fix something you break two more things.

Ohnoes! Balthazar got caught in a Wintersday blizzard!

I'm a little happy that I didn't feel the intense urge to buy the new set. I like to support Anet when I can, but I am tired of paying for premium content and ending up with glitchy stuff that gets put on the back burner because they are more concerned with getting the next set out there for us to buy.

At least attempted to do something with the male Lich costume. The ladies got ignored.
