How much health should I have as a Ritualist ? I'm at about 544 and wearing elite armor, but I seem to have pretty low tolerance to taking hits. That normal ? And question 2, I still seem to draw a lot of mob attention even though I hide in my spirits. Seems most times I'm having to summon spirits and then back track while my spirits do their work. I would have thought they would have kept aggro off of me ?

1) Your health shouldn't really make much difference. Minions should hold aggro, and you've got spirits as well should you need the extra layer of defense. Are you in NM or HM? My Rit is at 535 (580 while enchanted) health and 88/96 AL depending on whether I have free points to spec Tactics (as well as -2 damage while enchanted).

60AL base
+15AL (75) Shaman's Insignia
+5AL (80) Spear
+8/16AL (88/96) Shield

2) I don't use Summon Spirits so I wouldn't know, but they should be soaking up hits. Maybe your armor is low (still at 60?) and you're an attractive target even with spirits around.

I dont have shaman insigs on any pieces... I have radiant sigs and attunement on all pieces for the energy... I wasnt sure if I could add shaman or not without losing the energy... I'll see if it will add. No minions...strictly spirits.

EDIT -

Just tried... Shaman insigs will cancel out my energy add so my armor is strictly 60. I'll have to add a armor skill and see if that helps.

+energy runes and insignia are a complete waste on a Rit. The extra energy is never useful. Spirit Siphon is really all you need.

Spirit spammers rarely need any e management all I use is the old SoS and ah cant remember the name of it the enchantment that you gain energy and health for each summoned creature, just use SoS when ever its up and maintain that enchantment.

Siphon returns crap if you're targeting a spirit you've recently siphoned (and thus has no energy). If you cast it while you're targeting a non-spirit target it will siphon the nearest spirit, which will generally be the same one if you cast your spirits in one place and don't move around. Essence Strike is nowhere near as powerful as Spirit Siphon if you use it correctly.

Boon of Creation. Spirit Siphon would be preferable here because it can't be stripped. It also means you can drop Spawning for whatever else you want (like Tactics for a shield req or utility).

The moral of the story is...
Energy insgnias are stupid on a rit with as many options they have for energy managment. Offhands to a lesser degree I still like to use offhands on my rit (when I'm not using an item spell which I like a few of them) but a shield instead of an offhand with a +5e spear should work great to.

Honestly though I'm suprised your getting targeted at all when you have spirits.
But using a spear rather then a wand or staff as well as switching to a + armor insignia (shamans I think is best for rits) should pretty much eliminate any extra argo you've been getting.

My spammer has 480hp after equipping two superior runes and full hp gear. I don't find it at all hard to avoid aggro as a spammer. If you must be the puller, do it with a longbow.

I run sup channel + minor com + minor spawn + sup vig + 1 vitae with 2 shaman's (on chest and leggings) + 3 surviver. I never have a problem spirit spamming, even with my health at 545 in HM. Summon Spirits is your friend paired with Spirit Siphon.

Having said that, boon is complete crap. Once it's stripped you're RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed on e-management. Essense Strike is also shit in PvE for e-management... Spirit Siphon is perfect for numerous reasons (it can't be stripped... it CAN be spammed... its energy gain is by far superior to boon of creation and essense strike... etc).

If you think Spirit Siphon is bad, and if you're not moving around constantly with your spirits/don't know how to use Spirit Siphon to where you always get energy netted back every use, then you're doing spirit spamming all wrong.

Its the assumption we all made at one time or another, that more is always better.

With the exception of my spirits being caught in an area effect damage skill they are pretty resilient.

You do not need a large amount of energy esp if you have Signet of spirits.
So go for + health and Armour and don't worry too much about energy.

As they say Spirit Siphon is one of the best ways of managing energy.

"Pre-nerf" is incorrect. It's pre-buff.

You have to move around your pile of spirits so Spirit Siphon targets a different spirit each time.

Just got Spirit Siphon and I don't use BoC any more Went though Bogroot HM with 2 Friends and heroes, a lot more easier with e management and the ability to focus att points increased dmg by quite a bit. (I'm sure this is old news but I haven't played Rit long and even though this thread totally veered away from the ops question, it was very helpful )

Also Asari if your still paying attention to this thread I find you have to be behind you spirits, not in them, for them to keep aggro.

I've finished all games + maxed 15 titles and counting as a 355 rit. I rarely die. Health is not and should not be an issue. You should never ever be in a position where you're getting hit and worrying about your health. Hiding in your spirits is not a good tactic and you're not playing the class correctly. This is what bugs me about a majority of the SoS rits I see; they stand there and get hit and take up monking resources. The SoS rit is not build to take punishment.

Understand that your spirits are your weapon; lay them down and get the hell out of the way and let them do their job. Let *them* take the hits, let *them* take the aggro.

Sorry OP, this subject is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. Everyone talks about how easy SoS rits are, but most that I've been seeing lately don't seem to understand how to 1) get out of the way 2) kite from aggro 3) learn the 'q' and 'e' keys
