12 Days of Wintersday Competition and Festivities

The Staff at Gw-en.com decided to be somewhat festive this year and write a little song that we like to call "12 Days of Wintersday..According To Grenth"



However, we want to have a variety of cheerful Guild Wars Songs during
this season so we have decided to have a competition!


Singing Competition

Here are the rules/details of the Guild Wars Festive Song Competition

1. Background Music is Optional (Meaning you don't have to include
it in the background..but it can be nice)

2. Send Via MP3 and/or WAV to [email protected] with "Song Competition" in the Subject

3. Must be Guild Wars related Lyrics sung to a Christmas/Holiday Season Song

4. Have to be Sung, Rapped or Beat Boxed.

5. Send in Lyrics as well. ( These can be typed in the e-mail)

6. Songs must be at least 1 minute Long and may not go over 6 minutes.

* If you make a video as well....send us the link!*

DISCLAIMER: Submitters will split prize if more than 1 person.

For example if a guild writes a song..the prizes will be given to a
representative to be split among the group.

* All Songs will be played throughout the 12 days of Wintersday to make it fair for the voting*
*Songs will also be posted after the deadline on the forums so people can have a chance to listen to them over and over if they so choose*

PRIZES:

1st -100k + 20 Ectos + 1 Ambrace + 1 Stack of Wintersday Goodies
2nd -50k + 12 Ectos + 1 Ambrace + 1 Stack of Wintersday Goodies
3rd -50k + 8 Ectos + 1 Oppressor Weapon +1 Stack of Wintersday Goodies
(Knowing the staff of GWEN is......this prize might be sweetened by the time it is given out.

*Due to the enthusiasm of the community...we will be giving participation prizes as well. They will be a surprise for when we announce the winners!*

Top 3 winners ONLY will be played on Air during the Finale (See Schedule Below)

DEADLINE :

December 18th at 12pm GMT

VOTING / JUDGING :

We will have 4 Judges from the gw-en.com staff...as well as the community vote as well. This will be done via our Forums under the Guild Wars Section on the thread called SONG CONTEST.(Will be posted around December 19th or 20th) You can click on links on there as well to listen to all of the song entries to decide your vote.

Instructions on how to vote will be posted on the thread as well.
Voting will Close on December 30th at 12pm GMT.

As well...we will be partying it up throughout the holidays! lll Santa lll will be roaming around all of Tyria during this event, make sure that you are tuned in to find out where his exact locations are! You don't wanna miss out when he starts to hand out goodies This can be any time of the day and he will show up at least 10 times....or MORE each day!

UPDATE - December 13th - Santa has recently contacted the GWEN team and told us that he has stashed a few extra gifts away that he will be surprising the DJs with to give out during the Holidays. But, alas, you know how he is...he won't tell us what they are! So...you are just gonna have to take your chances by tuning in. He does want you to pay special attention to the fact that the Dj Schedule will be significantly changing on the night of December 19th!

I do play the cello, however, so I was wondering if I could do something with that?

Well..we are looking specifically how you can tie a Christmas/Holiday song to Guild Wars So.....I think an instrumental would be kinda tough. Why don't you team up with someone I think that could be unique

That's all I use. Free, easy resources for CPU and you can pick up the accompanying LAME encoder to format WAV and MP3 files.

Two questions: One submission per person, or are more allowed? Should the new lyrics be Wintersday-themed, or just GW-themed?

As far as I know, any GW-themed lyrics are fine. I know our personal ad doesn't stick to just Wintersday themes.

I have two versions of my song. Are you guys trying to keep the submissions under wraps until you have a chance to broadcast them, or would it be okay to post them here and see which folks prefer? All I can hear are the mistakes; I can't judge them accurately.

Can you join forces with someone who doesn't play guild wars as long as the lyrics are yours?

I'm working on a nagging idea now but to get the sound I want requires some male vocals...and the willing volunteer does not play.

I am going to say yes @Cyanna. Just let him know the prizes are in game prizes and if he has no problem you have at it. It's mainly the lyrics will need to be guildwars theme'd. We have already gotten a few submission and they are all sounding great! Keep up the great work everyone!
