Welcome to the 2010 Wintersday Screenshot Competition! Get your print screen button ready for the holiday season, and dig through your screen shot folders. The contest runs from November 18th, 2010 till December 29, 2010. There will be a voting period from December 29th through the 31st with winners announced on Janurary 1st.

Rules:
  • One entry per person.
  • Must be Wintersday themed.
  • Please no editing of the screenshots. Cropping is fine, but nothing else. :]

How to Enter:
Email your submissions to [email protected] with the Subject: Screenshot Competition. You can either attach them or upload them to an image hosting site & link them in the email. Please include the following information in your email:

Prizes:
Grand Prize Winner (1): Jingle Moa Plush courtesy of Koreena's Assorted Creations & 1 month subscription to Guru. (Alternatively, if the winner is from another country, they can choose to receive an Armbrace of Truth instead.)
Second Place (1): 1 month subscription to Guru.
Third Place (1): 1 month subscription to Guru.

Please note: The Jingle Moa plush can only be sent to residents of the US & Canada. :(

Why can't people outside the US/Canada win the Moa?
It's a legal issue for Curse/Guru unfortunately. Different countries require different things for winning & entering contests.

I'm in a country outside US/Canada, can I still enter?
Yes! If you win first place you will still get the guru subscription. The Moa will be put into our prize storage and used for another contest.

What exactly is a "Guru Subscription"?
Before the move to Curse, guru had a premium subscription program. You can read more about it here.

I have a question that isn't answered here, what do I do?
PM me (Sierraa) or post in the thread.

Eligibility:
* By entering the contest you agree to the terms and conditions.
* Contestants must be 13 years of age or older and legal residents of the United States or Canada. European contestants must be 18 years of age or older, or must have a parent or guardian enter in the minor's name.
* One entry allowed per person. Entries must be sent to [email protected]
* Winning contestant must be willing to submit: Full name, mailing address & phone number for prize shipment.
* Prize can only be shipped to residents of the United States & Canada.
* To be eligible for the Prize your entry must contain your screenshot, country of residence and your Guild Wars Guru forum account where you can be contacted.
* All submissions must be tasteful, non-destructive and created by the individual.
* We reserve the right to publish your forum username at our discretion.
* We reserve the right to deny any submission to the contest.

Prizes:
* (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a Jingle Moa Plush (priced at: 45.00 USD) and a one month Premium Forum subscription (priced at: 4.95 USD).
* (2) Runner up winners will receive a one month Premium Forum subscription (priced at: 4.95 USD).
* No cash or substitution or transfer of prize will be permitted.

End of Contest:
* All entries must be received by December 12th, 2010 at 11:59PM Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8).
* The decisions of the judges are final.

Winners:
* The winners will be announced on December 20th, 2010. They will be contacted by Kvinna, an Admin of GuildWarsGuru.com and will need to respond with acceptance of their prize. If you receive a request from any individual other than this please do not respond. The e-mail will be sent from [email protected]. We will NOT ask for your Guild Wars in-game name or password. Please do not ever give out your password to anyone.
* Contest Winners will be published on the GuildWarsGuru.com website and elsewhere at the sole discretion of the admin.
* We reserve the right to postpone or delay this contest for any reason including overwhelming response or unforeseen occurrences. If there is a delay we will extend the deadline for submissions.

Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may edit and modify any submission before posting. Each Sponsor and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies and all of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns are not in any way responsible or liable for damages, loss or injury resulting from participation in this contest or acceptance, loss or use of any prizes awarded in this contest. You further agree that in any cause of action, Sponsor's liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the contest, and in no event shall Sponsor be liable for attorney's fees. You waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. You assume sole liability for injuries, including personal injuries and/or damage to property or prize, caused or claimed to be caused by participating in this contest or the acceptance, loss, shipment, or use of any prize awarded. Sponsor is not responsible for any failure to contact entrants, whether due to technical or human error. All of Sponsor's decisions regarding the application and interpretation of the rules are final. This contest is void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law.

You account will be upgraded to what used to be the MMO Guru select program. You'll be able to view the site with no ads, PM Storage increased to 1000, post polls, create a signature & a free @guildwarsguru.net email. :]

Its a shame and a bit unfair to direct prizes to US and Canadian players only maybes the Euro Guru's if there are any can come up with a counter prize like a months free susbscribtion and maybes u guys can get hold of some art work just a suggestion

I wouldn't say it's unfair necessarily. :( We're working on getting more countries added to our list of "can-send-prizes-to". Most of the artists around Nolani have midterms/finals & the Wintersday Workshop to focus on. I'll keep this in mind though and see if I can possibly do something for contests in the future.

We are not choosing to exclude you because we want to. We are not the only place out there that has had to exclude other states or countries because of contest laws so I think you're being a bit unreasonable here. This is not the only contest you will ever see. In the future we will have other stuff as prizes, including in-game items for those that can't win physical items.

That being said, good luck to those that enter. We've seen some pretty cool screenshots so far! Keep 'em coming.

pretty much...but of course you don't have much of a chance of getting anywhere near being a finalist if it isn't Wintersday related...

Correct, it can be any of those but it must be Wintersday themed in some way. :]

It is a Wintersday contest and it does say "Must be Wintersday themed" in the rules.

No editing as in Photoshop and other image-editing programs? So I can still change graphics with TexMod and submit my screenshot?
