Scavenger hunt

is this now compulsary to do WiK?

Was wondering the same thing. Got 2 characters in LA Keep atm but am unable to start the mandatory inquisitor bounties. Questline advises me to finish getting the Ebon Vanguard as allies (which wasn't mandatory before).

Edit: Forgot to mention, both have not finished the "A good deed" wintersday quest. One has finished EotN, the other has not. Both do not get any dialogue in the Hall of Monuments between Gwen and Thackeray.

Edit 2: The one who has finished EotN has just gotten the "A good deed" quest from thackeray when leaving the EotN on her own.

Yes, completing the "picnic" storyline has always been part of the WiK. This explains how the Ebon Falcons end up in Kryta helping you out.

Yep. I haven't finished the scavenger hunt (still need cider & candles, which means tons of luck and getting off my ass to farm Grawl in Sancoth Valley for a ton of their necklaces and was able to get into the War (at Temple of the Intolerable after being stuck after finishing Riverside Assassination) with no problem. The War In Kryta overquest, though, is still showing me needing to recruit the Ebon Vanguard. Annoying.

I started this on a new character last night and had to do the picnic quest before I could get the three wanted quests. However when I went through wik before HOTN I didn't have to complete the picnic quest. Also you have to get the perfect items, I couldn't get the next gwen and thackery dialog until I had given thackery the perfect items.

The scavanger hunt used to be optional.

One of the things that came from the WiK survey was that the storyline was too hard to follow, so a single over-arching quest line (quest given by Murro at Lions Arch) has been introduced.

Since that quest line was introduced you have to do the scavanger hunt to progress the story.

It actually makes sense to do it this way, but finding a birthday cupcake is a pain!

Doing the quest to get ursan gives three honeycombs as a reward if you don't feel like farming necklaces.

According to the wiki, you no longer need to get the "perfect" items.

Yeah, I know. But my only characters who've been close enough to get those have already permed Ursan and used the honeycombs for their effect long before the WiK and HotN were started, the rest haven't even reached Gunnar's yet. :P

@Darcy - good to know on the substitution, meaning I won't need to wait for the cider. Getting honeycombs for the candles, on the other hand, is the part I'm stuck at and need to farm for.

That's bull because I gave him Pumpkin cookie, pahnai salad, hunter's ale, and the candles...and couldn't continue the quest until I gave him the perfect items later. At least I got some good summon stones from the sacks of junk.

Read the link again. If you don't have the perfect items, you need to substitute 3 alternate items for each category.

Aaand it's been that way for a very long time, well before the quest arc was introduced. The only real pain is tracking down honeycombs if you already did the ursan quests.

10 Honeycombs are, disappointingly, a regular reveal for me when I open gifts of the traveller, so if anyone is having trouble farming stone necklaces maybe you should have a look at what Nick is asking for for the week.

Whee. Turns out my Monk (who I hadn't played in months) was further along than I had remembered and had the quest leading to Blood Washes Blood, so managed to get my honeycombs. AND got a Deldrimor Armor Remnant out of Thackery's gift (used on Livia as she's the only EotN Hero I use regularly since my main does Sabway to cover for me being a crappy player ).

Not that anyone needed the update, but... :P

good idea but I haven't been getting honeycombs in Nick's gifts for a while. I always get sparklers, kegs and red rock candy. Not much to whinge about because i sell the kegs and get my money back though.

i am stucked in the hunt.i have finnished the new quest line were Thackery propose at the end but when i go out to Ice Cliffs he isnt there .Is the Scavenger hunt deleted when the new chain is finnished?Nitx

I'd like to take you up on that if possible.
