I recently bought trilogy and went to pvxwikia to check out some builds.
from what i can see, all the meta builds have skills from EotN. My question is, can i still be a valuable player in hm and elite areas without these exclusive skills?
question about EotN

Please don't use the old pvxwiki. Due to a dispute with the host, the site is being moved to a new one (Curse will be hosting it). Meanwhile, the old host (wikia) has refused to remove the content and anyone with permissions on the site is vandalizing the builds.
For now check out the Campfire section's sub forums for your preferred character or just to read the stickied "basics" thread for each profession.

With enough synergy groups can steamroll just about anything without abusing EotN skills. If you're playing with people you know and can work with each other, it shouldn't be problem. If you're working with random pugs, you'll need every advantage you can get to succeed, but most of them couldn't tell a good build from a dolyak's ass anyway, so they won't be asking too many questions.

thank you all very much

An update on pvxwiki - as announced on the guru home page, it is now up and running at http://www.gwpvx.com

You should think about getting EoTN anyway...
it's a way to link your old account to GW2.

The bad news - as you said, many of the builds used these days include those skills and, many of the PUGs in those area are using specific builds, like Speed Clears, VSF groups, etc. You may have more difficulty finding a group, especially if you run into one of the many build nazis.
As was said, you should get EotN if you can. Not just for the skills, but also for the content.
