runes on spirit solo farmer
Tharg
since spirit solo farmers are not supposed to receive any damage anyway, is there a reason not to use all superior runes?
Marty Silverblade
You're not supposed to take damage, but you will. Even if you stand a bit behind your spirit wall you sometimes get attention, especially from melees. Remember you need to be within earshot range for AoU and SLA so you can't run off too far. The further you drop your health the riskier it becomes, especially because you don't have any protection other than the spirits. 1 Sup is fine, but going for more is risky.
Spiritz
my spirit rit runs only 1 sup rune and rest is energy and she doesnt have any real problems killing foes and she doesnt use the siprit leech version.
Its not that we are not to recieve damage - any time in any given battle there is always a chance of damage - if there wasnt then vampirism wouldnt be used as a heal.In hm you may be facing caster foes like a mesmer who on initial pull may get a hex or 2 on you causing damage but its "if we take damage" .

2 sups is fine if you use a high health set.
When you do (rarely) take damage, the biggest threat to killing you is degen, in which case you will have plenty of time to simply remove the armor pieces with the superior runes on them.

I must be summoning the wrong spirits.... I get hit alot

All you need is superior channeling if you are using the most common build. superior spawning is nice but not really that needed since 13 spawning power is plenty.
Marty Silverblade
Pulling with a spell will mean you'll be a lot closer to the foe than you should be (taking into account aftercast, foes wandering toward you by chance, etc). Get a longbow (stats don't matter) and pull with that instead. Hexing a target does not necessarily make you the primary target.

I too am "working on" my Faction to get "Summon Spirts". I use a Flatbow to pull, (or sometimes Painfull bond) and either way I always get snagged running back to the Spirit wall. For now I just take "Spirit Light" with me to counter and heal up a bit.
Where are you Farming? Location is going to have an obvious impact on what Runes to Plant. I'd say if you can get away with it, do it, but if your runs are already sketchy then skip it.

I've got a pair of pants with a superior spawning power rune in them. (heh heh)
I switch 'em on when I think I can get away with it.
But if things look too sketchy, I'll take them off.
That's rite.

Been using solo spirit spam for awhile now, and I can say haven't had really hard time with it. I goto UW alot, and farm, and when I do, I never a problem, when I do die, its because of me doing something wrong. I noticed that.

Lower HP = Higher Aggro, something to remember.
CrustyEarl
Since I snagged summons spirits it's been a breeze.

I normally play with two accounts at the same time so I ended up with a Communing Rit and a Channeling Rit. Farming UW is quite easy that way. On both I go Rt/Mo and take rebirth, just in case one dies.

You all make the process painstakingly and ridiculously hard.
Summon your spirits, preferably learn which units you can wall. I can glitch a lot of the chamber Aatxes easily so that they can not reach my spirits or me.
Anyways, all you have to do is summon your spirits near by a mob.
Run up and cast painful on the closest monster to you and run back behind your spirits then use armor.
That's all. Their is nothing fancy to it. I have 4+ mil exp on my rit mostly from UW and I have only ever died due to internet issues causing me to lag.
If you die and get hit a lot using an SS farmer build you may want to revise the way you are using it, or just uninstall.
All this bs about higher aggro, drops changing, health mattering etc. It really doesn't. Most of the time your spirits should be on the edge of your agro bubble giving you time to recast more spirits if needed for larger mobs. I don't know why everyone is trying to make this all so complicated. Switching to bows etc. lol

The biggest flaw okayers get when using spirit spammer is their pulling methods.
Ive seen players who have said its easy build and they are gd at it - except you see their pulling methods and you almost cry , they either try and wand foes or cast a spell on them.
Its wriiten plainly on many guides that you pull with a longbow so you have time and distance to run like hell behind the spirits.Another bad habbit players use is often to place spirits just outside of aggro range and usually end up pulling the mob accidentily.
We all have bad habbits ( if im messing around solo then i rarely do things correctly ) but in a team with other human players we have to consider how our actions are going to affect the team and pulling correctly will make a big difference.

I have all superior channel/commune/spawn runes + a sup vigor, attunements, radiants and a shaman insig. Never had issues with this in the UW, FoW or any other place for that matters, pick your elite spot.
If you play it right, set up your spirits correctly and pull correctly, you shouldn't be getting hit. Never pull with a spell, always pull with a longbow. Hopefully you've set your spirits up near a wall or *above* the mob you're targeting. Once your spirits have aggro, run in and hit with painful bond or whatever.
Not only is UW doable, but so are many solo HM vanquishes.
Biggest mistake I've seen, and I see this a lot, are rits standing in their spirits and complaining about getting hit. You need to back off/kite a LOT. Be squirrely.

Voodoo Rage
Worst case if I get accidently hit by a heavy degen hex, I'll actually rip off the superior armor pieces once I've broken aggro. That has actually saved my butt a few times in the past. But yes, for the most part you should be completely ignored by the enemy. Fire an arrow and then run like hell a full aggro bubble away from your spirits.
