Lack of update info
Spiritz
Please if in wrong section can a mod move.
Hopefully a question which many players have had cross their mind but so far i dont think anyone has asked before.
We know anet ( as stated by anet ) releases bug fixes etc but why is it often the details on what was changed/added either takes hours to be given out or doesnt appear at all.We get a bugfix and details are sometimes non existant for an hour or 2 and we the players exit gw and log back in and we are left standing around asking same question "what was fixed /nerfed etc" and same replies of "no idea".
Im sure the community wouldnt care if anet displays what was done even if 10 mins later the update gets another update.
Other games seem to have the ability of keeping their players informed as things happen.
Surely the programmers know what they have changed just as they release an update/patch and surely the info can be passed to the relevent staff who can get it on website etc.
I know in a diff post about the euro server issues someone posted a screenie of guildwars.com section for network issues didnt even mention euro server problems and yet from posts on guru it was ongoing for a few hrs.
All i ask ( and probably a lot of other players too ) is please anet can we be informed faster of updates and problems so we know/expect any problems.
If anet did a weather report service would we all be under 10ft of snow for a few hrs before they said - beware of heavy snow ?

As for the question: it takes time and effort to type things up, and Anet has apparently decided that getting the actual update out is more important than describing the update.
As for the last update, it's covered by the ingame announcement.
Scary
Some times it does takes some time, but its probably not the only thing they have on their minds.
And alltough I'm curious to about the updates. for one reason I always check
my number of hero's that can be added. And if that havn't happend. I know
beside the announcements its probably a bug fix

I just wish they would change the way they announce updates, I don't know for sure how they do work but I have a pretty good idea.
So please anet for the new year do all further updates like this.
1 decide on what the next update will be
2 finish the update completely
3 tell us what the update will be and when it will happen.
4 activate the update on time
5 go back to 1 and start again.
At the moment your so keen to tell us what's coming next your telling us too soon and it just annoys the community and makes you look bad.

I'm not annoyed. And Anet is on thanksgiving break. If the update was gamechanging, it would be posted on Guru eventually. If not, the announcement wouldn't be needed anyway.
We will probably know next week this update fixed some clipping issues or something similar trivial. *shrugs*

Do we really need to know every little detail of all updates? When they do say they fixed a small problem, people then bitch about that.
EDIT: I hope it was to increase the drop rate of goodies.

Anyone remember what happpened last time they did a bunch of small unexplained updates?

Here's a better analogy for you. You take your car to the garage for it to be tested for roadworthyness. The garage checks the car and says it's fine. What they didn't mention was that they changed your wiper blades, and put some more air in your tyres. Did you need to know that? Possibly not.. did the garage need to tell you they did that.. probably not.

Not saying that ArenaNet has to tell us anything about what they update (I'd like it, but whatever), but that garage analogy isn't very good.

I've managed to get a piece of information about one of the last updates (which weren't published on the wiki):

Thanks for this morsel of information. One question though: why don't you know exactly what the updates contain in them? Shouldn't you know exactly what's in the update as a member of the team? Or at least have access to said updates? It's fine if it's not published on the wiki asap, but why does your post indicate to us that you're not heavily involved with GW1 updates? Are you not concerned with knowing? Your post concerns me, Stéphane, thus I'm raising the flag here. What gives?

I'm guessing they fancied keeping it a surprise for gvg drops.

Before this update I was seeing Keiran Thackeray spawn with a shield when I met him on Anvil Rock, other people have reported the same thing. I've seen been unable to replicate this. Maybe the update fixed it and they don't want to say so because it might add to the paragon hero speculation.
jazilla
at the end of it he did have two paragon skills. maybe he is evolving from a ranger to a paragon, but wouldn't that be devolving?
Gli
He needs to be a paragon so he can shout at Gwen.

"Brace Yourself!"
