Gift Purchase
Vazze
I live far from my nephews who are both gw players and I thought I might buy something for them at the in-game store, but it is not possible.
Why can't we buy gifts at the in-game store? I am sure it would generate some traffic. Is (was) it planned?

i think its because once they buy it, it adds to their account. thou im not sure if thats the reason.

The in-game stores are to create revenue for the GW team(s).
I suspect if you could trade things like makeovers in-game people would sell them for bloated amounts of gold, taking advantage of those who dont have a credit card to buy it themselves.
Put in your credit card number>get a makeover>spam this,
"Wts Extreme makeover($10usd)~100k"
Profit. Lots like buying gold online to the person selling.

Gift purchase can not be traded/resold so this does not apply. I was talking about an option that exists on steam. You buy games/things for another account. The item/service itself can not be traded.

Just get their account info and buy it on there. No one would be the wiser...unless they dont trust their uncle.

Because NCSoft doesn't want your money.
Gifting microtransactions is still a strange idea at this point, although it would certainly be in a business' interest to encourage people to do so. It makes more sense for steam where you can gift outright new products... which would also describe NCSoft store moreso than in-game store. However most MMOs can be "thorny" gifts in that they also come with that subscription idea attached, and thus most ncsoft offerings are not self-contained units the way most steam games are.

Send them a visa gift card, thats as good as buying it yourself.

This.
Or you could ask them their account info and just buy it while logged on their accounts. While sharing account info is looked down on, it's not the worst thing in the world if all you are doing is buying them something from in-game store.

You see it asked all the time because people would like the option to surprise a relative/friend with a gift. But this option has never existed in either the in-game or NCSoft stores. We speculate but no one knows the reason. Perhaps fear of possible claims of stolen card info, etc.
