Starting War In Kryta?

Well, I've managed to confuse myself again - I doubt that comes as any surprise.

I just finished Prophecies tonight. Yay me! I own Nightfall, Factions & EotN. I am fascinated by the whole War in Kryta thing, primarily because I had confused myself early on and didn't understand that Kryta & War in Kryta - on the Wiki quest list - were not the same thing. Yet what I read about what's involved with WiK really interested me.

But tonight, I confused myself further... and I don't want to do anything until I've got this figured out.

Depending on where I read in the Wiki, it either tells me that a) I have to have completed Prophecies and/or b) I have to have completed Prophecies and OWN EotN and/or c) I have to have completed Prophecies AND have completed Zinn's Task (MOX/ROX/NOX etc. I gather) and/or d) implied that while I can "start" WiK with just having completed Prophecies, in order to access a bunch of the content I have to have also completed either Zinn's Task OR completed EotN.

Seriously - it says different things on different pages, go look!

War in Kryta content is available only to characters who have completed the Prophecies or Eye of the North campaigns. If you have completed Prophecies you must also own the Eye of the North expansion.

To participate in the War, you must also have completed either EotN or Prophecies plus Zinn's Task.
Quote:
* To begin the dialogues leading to Thackeray preparing a Picnic for Gwen, you must also have completed EotN or participated in the Wintersday 2008 quest sequence involving the two NPCs. (The dialogues are also triggered if someone else in the party meets these requirements.)
So I'm kind of lost... I want to be able to access all parts of the WiK experience, but I can't quite figure out what else I need to get done first - and as I said, I don't want to start it if there are parts I later won't be able to do because I didn't have them completed before I began.

Help?

I believe it comes down to doing either Eye of the North or Zinn's Task. However you still need some Eye of the North outposts to be able to progress the War in Kryta story.

I would just complete Eye of the North, I did that and I've never done Zinn's Task.

Your first two quotes are both different ways of saying the same thing.

1. You must own Prophecies. (Obviously, since Kryta is there.)
2. You must own EotN. (Some of those NPCs are part of WiK.)
3. You must have completed either one of the above.

Under those conditions WiK starts automatically. As soon as you finish Prophecies or as soon as you finish EotN, it all begins, and you will be able to do all of it. There's no need to be worried about missing parts.

There are three situations in which players might find themselves:

1. Prophecies done. EotN done.
2. Prophecies done. EotN not done.
3. Prophecies not done. EotN done.

Any one of these will work, and you will have access to all WiK content. However, if EotN is not done, you will have to do some extra things to make up for that and get access to the NPCs from the expansion who are needed for WiK.

If you have not finished either yet, then the simplest thing to do is to finish EotN. Then you will not have to worry about Zinn's Task, Wintersday quests, or any other extra actions.

Or see if you can get "The War in Kryta" Overarc quest from Murro in Lion's Arch and follow the markers from there?

As BenjZee said, Murro in LA (standing next to steps up to Firstwatch Sergio) will offer you the main quest "The War in Kryta" http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_War_in_Kryta
That will direct you to each separate quest that you need to finish (two sections that are also offered by Murro). Any that you have already completed will be crossed off in your quest log.

I believe WiK flow chart is only partialy right. Because on one character I done only Prophecies (not EotN), had MOX, then I done "The Missing Vanguard" quests, then "A Good Deed", Trial of Zinn, Thackerays scavanger hunt and then outside EotN I saw Evennia recruits and when I first time arrived in Shining Blade Camp Livia recruiting Zinn. Now Lions Arch keep is open for me and I get Wanted quests.

I don't know was that glich or because there was 2 updates(second part of HotN and Nicholas access fix) during my playtime, but actualy I saw less dialogs compared to other characters.

only thing under question is "A Good Deed" if you finish EotN and start Gwen dialogs in HoM can you still access quest?

This is where my wife got stuck as well. Proph...done, EotN...not so much, well on one of her alts anway. Trying to get more Oppressor weapons after finishing on her primary, she discovered that she would nearly have to complete EotN to do WiK. Because you have to have the Asuran and Ebon Vanguard as allies...meaning completing those legs of the EotN questline. Not sure about the Zinn's Task part, as we haven't done that on any toons yet.

Zinn's Task isn't needed at all I've only done it on 1 toon and I think I've done War In Kryta on 7 toons now.
