Any class is good for Survivor. Play the class you are most comfortable with. That will make getting Survivor a lot easier when it comes to knowing what you are capable of.

One campaign won't be enough experience for you. With my Survivor, I played through all campaigns (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North) and still didn't get all my experience. Gotta do side quests and such as well for that extra experience. So start with whatever campaign you want.

MrKGado posted some good links, and don't forget the wiki has some good information on the Survivor title. Good luck with it, and please don't take the easy way out. Work for that title and it will feel much more rewarding when you get it.

Are we talking rank 1 "Survivor" or rank 3 "Legendary Survivor"?

With the right builds and a buddy to help you through stickier missions, any campaign is doable without dying. You just need really good knowledge of each campaign and its missions before you attempt it. Considering you're asking this question, I'm betting you don't have that knowledge yet.

That said, you can complete parts of campaigns (make SURE you carry story books for bonus exp points!) -- I usually do Prophecies up to Droknar's Forge (one could probably go a bit further, but I have a wonky connection and am a big chicken); my LS-aspiring monk is currently at Nundu Bay in Nightfall (I had help with Sebelkeh); I tend to do all of North except the Deldrimor line (a friend usually runs the Fire Room and beyond of Elusive Golemancer -- love that wonky connection!). Factions is probably doable all the way through, but the spikes scare me and I usually stop about 4 missions in. I also do all the missions except Zen Daijun in the young Heroes of Tyria books.

But side quests are where you'll earn most of your experience. Factions has a lot of 3k exp quests around Kaineng, and some of the North quests have ridiculous payouts (10k, 15k) for little work. Even those little 500 exp ones in Ascalon and Istan add up, and are pretty quick and easy if you go back to them after you're a higher level. Also, the daily Zaishen missions and bounties can be a good source of extra experience.

So read the guides, get to know the campaigns, and get comfortable with a class you like. Any can do it (especially with defensive builds), what matters is you.
