GW servers unreachable?

I don't know if anyone's looking at the technical help subforum this morning, so I decided to ask here. Who else has been having problems with connecting to/logging into Guild Wars since last evening? I think something's gone wrong with their servers, because I've checked several server URL's:

64.25.39.55, 64.25.39.57, 64.25.39.59, 64.25.39.66, 64.25.39.67

with various online ping and traceroute services, and they all report the same result - the network is unreachable. Talking with another friend on MSN Live Messenger and he says he's having intermittent connection problems too.

I just connected to 64.25.39.57 (am) and 64.25.39.61 (int), no problems here.

I ran the in-game network diagnostic tool about half an hour ago and there's definitely a break somewhere in the ping/traceroute line near GW's servers:

As you can see, my end is fine. The problem is on GW's end. I've sent the complete diagnostic file to GW support.

really, everyone who has this problem should do what joea did, because it seems that not everyone is having this problem.

Edit the shortcut to Gw.exe to include the "-diagnostic" flag, run the shortcut, then send the resulting Program Files/Guild Wars/NetworkDiag.log to GW support...

On that note, I just had another thought: is it possible to put a flag on the gw.exe shortcut to force the game to connect to an European server? Does anyone know the URL for the game's European servers? From what I hear those seem to be working fine.

Dont think there is a flag - if there were it would have been suggested a few years ago solving the many problems that arise when a err server for those countries goes down - if you know what i mean. Would be gd if there was a server flag option as a lot of the flags dont seem to have an actual use and they still exist.

By the way, somebody on Comcast's help forums told me that there's something curious about hop #9 in the first traceroute that I posted above. Apparently, that URL, 217.239.39.14, is part of, of all places, Deutsche Telekom's network, which means that the traceroute to get to GW's US game servers went clear across the Atlantic!

Comcast is pissing me off. Lagging me out all the time now. Neverhad this issue before. Internet would just be down for a few mins then come back.

I've never had that problem myself. On several occasions, I've had the connection drop briefly (a minute or so) and then there was that messy outage last Sunday night, but overall Comcast's been reliable since I re-activated my HSI account in April. And from all the evidence, we can't blame this mess on them.

I'm not certain that uninstalling/reinstalling would solve this problem. I tried a solution suggested elsewhere earlier today - renaming or deleting your gw.dat file (it's been reported that similar problems can happen because that file gets corrupted), then re-downloading the game information. Unfortunately, that didn't help at all, and as I've reported earlier, testing various GW game servers with ping and traceroute from third-party services, plus running the in-game network diagnostic, revealed that there's a bad problem somewhere on the GW end. So I guess we're all at a stand right now until NCSoft's support personnel can be bothered to read their incoming tickets.

I finally got through to NCSoft Support but it's proving extremely exasperating so far because they keep assuming that the problem is on my end. They keep telling me to do various things on my end like disconnect my router so I can run Game Advisor and even uninstall my antivirus (AVG) and I keep telling them that everything I've checked so far today indicates there is a problem on THEIR end.

i am now not able to access like 50% of my chars because i cant get to gh on my laptop now either, this is rediculous...

File a ticket with ANet/NCSoft. I finally managed to convince them, after running Game Advisor, that there really is something going on, and they said they would "escalate the ticket". I haven't heard back from them since, but I think I won the key point. Don't give up. Google for "online traceroute check" and "online ping check" so that you can get third-party evidence of your connection problems, and cut and paste that to what you send to ANet.

Something is wrong on their end. When I select a character the Connecting... window shows up and takes a few seconds when usually its instant and when it goes to the loading screen takes twice as long there to. I have tested my ping and bandwidth with no problems indicated and my MS in gws is always below 100.

I am on Comcast as well and something is definitely up. The character screen takes several seconds to load, as does going to any outpost. I also have quite a lot more lag in game.

This started happening maybe a day or two ago.

I too am having the same connection issue.
Cant connect or i get to the character screen, choose a character, and nothing.
Whats funny is my sons computer is working fine.
Same router, same internet provider, same house.
Also for almost 24 hrs now i could'nt even access Guildwars.com from my computer. Finally within the last hour I've been able to get to the web site.
Ive tried everything. I turned of all firewalls both soft and hardware. Disabled virus software and re-installed everything several times. I changed dns servers many times as well. All of my other games work. All 33 games in steam work. This is just crazy.

Second pathping shows a clear failure at Level3 (who is known for sucking). Firs tone could be a-net or could be whoever owns 217.239.39.14.

Also, you should redact the first couple lines of diagnostics when you post them. You don't want people knowing your IP and network configuration.
