Title is a lil bit confusing so i'll explain. Recently in EotN and other places where people are selling unded minis, when you go to buy any amount of pets from them they first put up the mini then when you(buyer) put up the cash or eccys they add a summoning stone to the deal.
Why does this smell like they have duped the minis somehow and are using the stones to 'perm' the mini?
And yes the mini stays in my inventory no matter where I zone or what i do with it (most of the time go straight to HoM and ded it).
Has this happened to anyone else? I don't want to be supporting such a money making method if that is what is going on. Would appreciate a discussion on this for some peace of mind.

Hmm. Never seen this one personally and I just bought like 6 minipets today. However, they were off the Guru Auction.
Is it a bunch of different people doing it?
If it was a single person did the person say something like buy a minipet get a free summoning stone or something along those lines.?

Might just be someone in the Festive spirit.
Probably just have a ton of Summoning Stones and figured they'd hand them out for free whenever people buy from them. I've done that a few times with stuff I sell. Even handing out cupcakes, sweets, alcohol, etc.
Just a thank you for buying from them and a small gift.

I've gotten tonics from people I buy stuff from. It all depends on the person and what they feel like doing.

There ARE nice people out there
Iuris
They may be just generous.
Or, they may be masking a changed offer? Take a good look at the mini, maybe it "suddenly became" dedicated at the same time the summoning stone was put up?

AFAIK, GW does NOT have the kinda of wonky trade system that allows anything like "perming" to exist as it did in D2.

You don't really have to wory about buying dedicated mini's cause you will get a large notification window after you both pressing except. the window basicly says that its a dedicated mini and gives you another option to click decline or accept. No way you can mis that window

@songbringer
Couple different people have done it so far.
@iuris
Mini stays unded and the same one I'm buyin so nothing changes except for an extra stone.
@Arduin
I suppose it COULD be a nice person or someone wanting to offload extra stones that they can't sell. Just felt a little weird.
@Chthon
yes thank goodess the GW trade system is NOT like D2.
BUT
"In the 'duping' incident of 2007, players were able to duplicate items by exploiting a bug in the Reconnect system. Although this violated the EULA some players cloned hundreds of thousands of armbraces in this time. ArenaNet staff took steps to ban the most egregious offenders, but it is believed that a sizable portion of the armbraces still exist in-game. A cloned armbrace is indistinguishable from a legitimate armbrace, and functions exactly the same. " (from http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armbrace_of_Truth)
I initially got a little concerned after the last trade because he was asking for ectos only for a fairly cheap mini and had strange grammer(bad english). But if the general consensus is that there is nothing sinister about it, i'll go with the crowd.
SO, after many "hmmms and hummms" it all seems to be ok. Just got thrown by the quirkyness of trader. Which is good 'cos that guy had alot of minis I need so a relief that I can buy again if I see him.
