May pick GW back up
MainGunn3r
I havent played GW in a few years and I know GW2 is somewhat right around the corner, my question is, is this game still worth it to pick up? I did some searching and got mixed reviews. Is there still a good amount of multiplayer in it or is everyone basically running around doing everything with hero's? which Areas are populated the most? etc etc etc...any help would be great

I am in the same boat as you are in. I got 3 Pve chars and 1 Pvp char and I am still trying to see if I can still have fun with them. Each Pve char is from a different expansion of the game.
I am still debating whether I should delete them all and start fresh or continue with one of my mains.
Assassin - Factions cleared, Nightfall GoD,
Dervish - Nightfall cleared,
Monk - Eotn
Ranger - PVP
There is too much choice for me in this game and I can't decide.

I played GW solid from the release of Prophecies through Nightfall. I stopped playing right before EotN came out. I got bored. Ran out of stuff to do.
Fast forward to a couple months ago, when I reinstalled and started up again.
There's TONS to do now. I mean, I could write up a few different checklists for a few different toons... there's a lot to keep me busy.
Domain of Anguish has a healthy population, and its meta for normal mode will accept any class. Urgoz and Deep were empty last time I was there. FA and JQ are not as buys as I'd like, but not terribad. The daily Zaishen Mission, Bounty and Combat always sends some traffic to the area, mission or arena of the day.
To answer your question directly: Yes, Guild Wars is worth picking back up again. You'll probably have a lot of birthday presents waiting for you.

If you already have the game then just play. You don't have to pay again, so try it out and see for yourself.
If there are not enough players around for your liking, find an active guild/alliance. Bam! All of a sudden you have people to chat and team with.
Ultimately everyone has to decide for themselves what level of interaction they want with others. I'm in an active guild but do a lot solo (heroes/henchies), but often my playing comes in little spurts so I just jump into it and don't try to team up. It works for me, but maybe you need more? Try it and see.

You can do everything with heroes or join a guild and do some stuff with peoples. very rare to get full parties in PvE of real people (other than elite areas) though since using heroes usually tends to be quicker and better

Ahem.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT DELETE YOUR EXISTING CHARACTERS.
I made that mistake when coming back from a 2 year absence. Play through the game for a little bit, get the hang of it, and you'll realize that you're really not losing anything from running these characters again, just saving time and money from not having to re-level and buy skills for a new batch of chars.
As an added bonus, older characters are eligible for older birthday presents, which can give you some pretty pricey miniatures to trade or keep for GW2 rewards.

the best part about heros is that they do what they are told and best of all they dont rage out and start screaming at everyone for the mistake that some one made. (but that person is normally the one to blame

I came back after a 2-3 year absence. I got burned out and quit. Yes HoM rewards were a big part of coming back, but I was also missing a fun game that I'd enjoyed immensely from 05-07. Many of the old guildies came back too, though not all of them stuck around. Still, I find there's plenty to do to keep me entertained.
Do the daily bounties, the weekly traveler gifts, and chip away at whatever personal HoM goal you set for yourself. Maybe even set some personal challenges for fun. There's War in Kryta and Hearts of the North content to play through as well. The Wintersday festival is right around the corner too, plus the weekend events like the FA/JQ weekend we just had.
In short, plenty to do if you're interested.
