Alright, I can't be the only relatively new player who is too intimidated to join up with an unknown group and go dungeon crawling or working through missions... sure, I'm lvl20 and finished Prophecies, but so is/has the guy/gal who has been playing straight through the last 24 hours... and so is nearly everyone else.

That doesn't mean I know what the heck I'm doing. LOL Or that I've got an amazing uberbuild, powerful weapons, tons of consumables and the experience to understand txtspk when someone is quickly telling me what they want me to do in the midst of us getting bombed by Fire Imps. I don't. Seriously. I don't.

I'd like to find a few other less-than-confident, still-learning, willing-to-laugh-as-we-die-and-try-again types to go (attempt to) kick some monster butt. People who are still puzzling out what the heck Sabway and Spiritway and Discordway are... but who are intimately familiar with OMGWE'REGONNADIEway, and find it funny when it happens. People who are at least capable of typing in relatively coherent complete sentences... or, alternatively, who have Vent since I've got a Vent server. Players who understand the value of doing something insanely crazy like say, oh I don't know, actually taking a minute or two to watch how the monsters move/group before rushing in? The world has enough Leroy Jenkins/Kilroy Stonkins, honest!

I don't care if you're young or old... but I'm going to be 40 this year, and I've already contributed three times to the next generation of gamers, each of whom goes to school/work in order to pay for their own gaming habit... so yeah, unless you want me to get all "mom-like" on ya, probably best if you either be older, or really really really patient with us old-types.

I'm an elementalist... I like fire... I'm learning to love my other elements. I've begun playing around with multiple secondary professions, and have learned a few neat combinations. In 48 days of playing GW, I've not yet found a single green item or an ecto, but I remain hopeful. I finished Prophecies, am ascended/infused, and am working on EotN. I've recruited all three allies, but got wiped repeatedly trying to help Jalis defend his dwarves. Still need to finish that eventually... LOL

I've got a lot of heroes... I think they're pretty good. Not great, but good. I don't have a lot of gold to blow yet, but I'm working on it slowly. So I'm not the queen of consumables or weaponry, but I've got heart... and damnit, I can laugh as we die!

Can you? Every time? Multiple times in one instance? Yeah? Cool...let's talk!

Hello. I've been meaning to do some Normal Mode EoTN dungeons on my Ranger for a while now and I'd love to help you out. My In-Game-Name is Schmerdro Ravissen.

I'm not exactly new to the game (I have a 50/50 Hall of Monuments XD ) but I already have Legendary Master of the North on 5-7 of my characters so I won't care if we fail or succeed in any of our outings. I'm just looking to try something new, since I'm used to playing caster professions, and I won't mind explaining the basics for each dungeon (like what when Fire/Holy Damage is more advantageous than other types of damage, how much hex/condition removal we will need and so on).

I also have vent which I won't mind using, but I'm more of a listener than a talker (as I am quite introverted in real-life).

Lately, when I want to relax I tend to play Jade Quarry or Fort Aspenwood (which is like... the easiest and least competitive form of PvP XD ) so I'm interested in a change of scenery. So, if you want to do some dungeons you can pm me your IGN or just whisper me in-game .

love this thread, I've been playing for a while now, I don't have a 50/50 HoM (trying but if I don't get it its not the end of the world)
I do some of the elite things like the solo farming and stuff, but for pve I like to run my own builds that I came up with on my own and sometimes they don't work all that well for an area so I die a lot, because of this I am really nervous about joining up with people I don't know, cause if we die I don't want to get yelled at for having the wrong build or some such BS and I don't like watching it happen to others especially newer people.
So this is a very long round about way of saying if i'm not too busy failing at my 100th attempt of Dasha Vestibule I'd love to team up (seriously I took a few months break and now I can't do that mission for the life of me)

Feel free to poke me when I'm on, and if I'm not doing something already, I'd be more than happy to run around doing things, I wouldn't call myself a veteran, I'm certainly not 50/50, and nor do I plan to be, I've never even been to some of the elite endgame areas, and some of the builds that people talk about, make no sense to me, I go with what I go with and it works most of the time.

I've completed all the campaigns (except nightfall, cuz I've not gotten around to finishing abaddon's wossit) and most of the time, I'm randomly vanquishing areas in the jade sea.

I have vent, somewhere.. and somewhat miss having people to laugh with when the brown stuff hits the whirly thing.

Please add me to your list of noobies to play with. I have been playing GW for a while, but I can be pretty baaaaaaaaaad.

It would be nice to have someone who's not pro" to play with.
When I play with people who are "totally pro", I feel like they are running me through the game, so I don't feel like I learned much. It's not much fun.

I like Vent too, but I'm more of a listener, like that Schmerdro guy above.

I like this idea. Hit me up if I'm in in game and not busy (read somewhat often and never) I'm not what you would call new (Unless a 61 months is new) but I dont actually play that much and I havent actually accomplished a whole lot in the 5 years I've been playing. Playing with people who actually want to do stuff and learn would be fun, and hey, beating dungeons and elite areas that I've never set foot in sounds exciting. I've got vent but whether or not I talk is a whole different ball game.

Yay! More people!!

There's definitely no requirement that anyone be "new" - I'm a lot more interested in those that haven't become so hardcore that they're going to start yelling and cussing if we get wiped because I cast Tryptophan Signet instead of Fall Back. *grinning*

I've already done some adventuring with a couple of people I met from this thread, have had some excellent chats with others... and in the process, I've gotten to see some amazing parts of the game I probably wouldn't have for a long while otherwise! I've even gotten a few greens AND a couple of ecto's (and rubies and sapphires and obsidian shards even). I've also found some awesome weapons for my heroes, was gifted with a couple of adorable little mini's to play with and add to my HoM, learned the secret to killing Duncan (!!!!)... and best of all, I've made some new friends. People who are fun to adventure with, enjoyable to chat with, and apparently endlessly patient with my (many) questions.

It makes me really glad I started this thread, and I'm looking forward to getting to know more of you soon! New or not!!

I'm also really excited by the fact that I've met so many really cool people who are almost certainly still going to be around when GW2 launches. We'll be able to explore that together, to learn from each other, and hopefully be able to share what we've learned here on Guru for others. I like the idea of being able to help someone else the way I'm being helped... and when GW2 comes out, we'll all be starting from the same spot and trying to learn our way. I think that's going to be fun.

Plus...

We'll probably get to die a lot. *grinning*

Great thread TheGizzy. I think I'm pretty much at the same place you are. I have a great guild who will help me out but they mostly do Hard Mode stuff and I'm not even Ascended yet. However I did just finish EoTN all the way through now so I guess I'm not a total rube. Hardest thing I have succeeded at was Frostmaws (with a guildies help), and the hardest thing I have failed at was running (or crawling) myself to Droks. I recently spent over 5 hours H/H and eventually reached Snake Dance before getting kicked off because of a game update.

Oh yes and I'm usually a Smiting Monk. You know how the leets love smiting monks...

Love this thread. Its always great to read up how players take action and actively do something against the doomsayers who think that the game is dying .

If you need someone along to help with any mission or have a question about anything ingame just message me (Although I am AFK quite often because I forget to switch off GW sometimes ). My ign is Deathly Spirited.

Btw. You can also find a few players from GW Guru 1 and 2 on the site own Mumble voice chat server. It would be great to populate that a bit more;

Hi,

I too am not new to the game but I have been hiding away in the land of H/H for far too long... and i think it could be time into venturing out into playing with others.

I do have a real life so find it difficult to play for hours so I doubt I could be counted on as a regular player... but I would love to join when I can.

My main character is a monk... but has forgotten how to heal (no need when H/Hing) :-/ Hopefully you can put up with that

I am pretty new to guild wars as well, just made it to the desert at lvl 17. I don't have a ton of time to play, but I would love to play with someone besides henchmen when I'm on. I haven't grouped much, but if you don't mind guiding me a bit, I usually learn pretty quick and would love to tag along on some adventures.

Wow... I can't believe people are still finding this thread... that's awesome!

I'll send PM's to everyone I haven't caught up with yet tonight. It's been a slightly crazy couple of weeks for me, so my time in-game has been limited to much later in the evenings and just slightly hit-or-miss.

It's obvious that the people responding to this thread all feel the same way about the game and groups, so my thought would be, don't just wait to hook up with me. Contact each other, too! "Hey, I saw your post in that thread on Guru, and I'm in the same boat... wanna do something together?" We're all looking for the same things!! And there's no reason anyone should have to be waiting for me to log on. *grins*

Maybe we could each post "where we're at" in terms of the game, which might help identify who else might be interested in doing things together... ??

I only play one toon (though I have a few for storage), and while I have finished Prophecies, I am (along with two other friends I met because of this post!) currently helping my husband, best friend, and a really nice gent I met through here get through the Ascension missions and the ones following those.

For my own progress, we're working on Nightfall... getting ready to do Ruins of Morah. But also helping others who are at the beginning (Consulate Docks). And we're dipping into Factions... just about to do the Closer to the Stars quest.

Just a note, so no one thinks I'm horribly rude... if I'm out doing a particular mission or something with a group that we scheduled beforehand, I tend to set my status to Offline once we get partied up and can use Team chat. I am terrible at typing AND playing/running/fighting at the same time - that's actually why I keep a Vent server.

Seriously, it's pathetic when you consider I can type over 120wpm. I just cannot seem to handle both at the same time, and I start stressing knowing someone has whispered me and is waiting for a response while I'm trying to get through a battle. It's my own issue... OCD, anal retentive, take your pick. *laughing* And honestly, when I'm actually playing, I have a very hard time noticing that I've even been messaged to begin with. I miss whispers more often than not. The "simple" solution is that I just set myself to Offline unless I'm parked in an Outpost.

But please don't hesitate to message me here via PMs if you can't find me online and want to hook up to do something... we can work out a time to meet, or I can let you know if we're putting together a group at a certain time, etc.

The MORE THE MERRIER!! So don't feel like you're intruding into an "established" group... it's not like that at all, promise! And not a one of us is going to whine if we all die...again...and again. LOL Nor does your profession matter, we can work it out! None of us have preconceived notions about what one profession has to offer over another... we just find a way to get through whatever we're planning on doing. So far, so good!

I really hope you guys will post where you are in the games and what you need to work on... I'd be thrilled to see some chatter in this thread between people hooking up to play... none of us can be available ALL the time for everyone else, and I'd hate to think anyone is missing out on moving forward because they're waiting for me to be online. This thread is already full of awesome people... so let's all get to know one another and start PLAYING!!

Hey, I've been playing Guild Wars for the past 3months after returning back to the game. I've completed all of the campaigns across several characters, as for dungeons I've seen very few. I play this game on my own now with my ritualist but getting the chance to play within a team on this game is really good fun.

Hi guys ,

I'm really glad I found this thread, you all sound like my kind of people. I've been playing nearly 5 years, but I still haven't done most of the elite areas, don't have mountains of gold and don't know about all the best builds, and I have no problem with dying heaps, been there .

I have a couple of characters, and my most played is my ranger, who has completed all the campaigns. I've recently started playing my assassin again, and I've only done factions, and would love to party up with you guys .

I'm in GMT, and my play times can be quite random, and I don't always have loads of time to play, but if I'm on send me a message .

I recently returned to playing GW after a 2.5 year layoff. While the game doesn't seem that new to me, all the hybrid builds and pugs only looking for those specific types are a little annoying for a casual player. It would be great to get together with an actual fun group of players than those who treat the game so seriously. Plus I want to dust off my monk.

I will be happy to throw myself in the mix of things here. It is great to see people not take GW so seriously and like to have fun. This is exactly the views of my old guild before everyone moved on in their personal lives. Because of this, I've gone on to create a guild of 1. Although it is great at times, I really enjoy teaming up with people and accomplishing things together. I'm sure I am not only speaking for myself when I say that with GW2 luring in the distance, there is plenty to do to fill up the HoM.

For myself, my main character is a Ranger. I have been around since Prophecies and have had a great time exploring and doing just about every bit of Tyria, Cantha, Elona, and EotN. I've still got a little ways to go before achieving a full HoM and I am more than happy to help others and work together for the same goal. I consider myself a casual gamer since real life personal responsibilities sort of limits the amount I play each week but when I play I like to have fun and enjoy playing alongside others. I'm a genuine nice person with a positive attitude. Being a "veteran" in the world of Guild Wars, I admit that I have made plenty of mistakes along the way and about as many as the next person. Everyone has been there and will make mistakes more than once. Because of this, I have a forgiving and "It's Ok. Let's go get 'em again" attitude. Also over the years, I have developed the "anything is possible" mentality whether it is strategy, builds, etc. Overall, there is nothing I won't try, help with, or do.

If anybody wants to get together and knock out anything, add me to your friends list and PM me anytime when you see me on.

This sounds like a group I might fit in with. I die a lot. I came here looking for hints on doing Ruins of Morah and found this thread. I'm stuck there. I'm soooo stuck there. I've finished Prophecies and now working on Nightfall. I hate dressing up heroes. Can't they get their own runes and weapons? Anyway, I like them better than henchmen so I guess I'll deal with it. I'm very cheap and haven't bought any skill sets or costumes or anything that doesn't come with the basic game.

I'm AFK a lot so if I don't respond that's probably why... or I'm dying somewhere and can't be bothered to reply, one or the other. But I'm here off and on and might like to do something sometime. IGN: Stormy Fae.
