Well hello GWG,

It's been about 2 years since ive been on here, just wanted to say hi as it been a long time.

now onto my point, are arenanet ever going to release GW2? and if they do how the hell do they propose to claw back the players they have lost to other MMO's, given that it has been sooooooooooooooooo long im surprised people even still play GW1 at all. i personally know ALOT of players who have migrated to other MMO's and have foung them so enthralling thay the will never turn back to GW, it saddens me to think the game that got me into MMO's has died due to lack of understanding their customers needs.

now that we have been playing the biggest MMO on the planet for 2 years ( i still have to pich myself, too see if i awake to realise that GW2 is actually out) i dont think i will return to the GW franchise and i fear neither will most oldschool players.

anyway i would like to see a reply from Gaile Grey or her equlvalent as to why they have let slip what was once a MASSIVE following?

There error wasn't in not releasing it yet. It takes a long time to make a game.

Take blizzard for example. They released word of their new currently unnamed (unless something has happened that I don't know about) mmo about a year after gw2 was announced to be working on...

Now a couple quick things to think about...

Before gw2 was announced all of anets developers were working on eotn...
Blizzard had probably at least a year to a year and a half headstart. It's still an unnammed mmo and farm from any beta.
-this puts gw2 either ahead or in time with the unnammed mmo

Blizzard more then likely has a legal team that makes more in a year then anet takes in. Just sayin.
They have the financial backing to hire whoever the eff they want.

Now... we see that this is just how long it takes to build an mmo from the ground up with a small team and a modestish budget.

If they hadn't announced it then. They would have lost more people right away. I mean people had gotten used to this idea of a new campaign ever 6 months. Now your dropping it and not telling us why? By announcing it they at least gave the appearence of an explination as to why they stopped comming out with new campaigns (please note...a new campaign is nothing like a new mmo...with a new campaign the basics are all there and your just building on top of it...whereas a new game is building from the ground up)

The real issue here is that while it may be an explination for not giving us new campaigns it's not an explination for ditching gw all together pretty much...

I am pleased with the new GW:B stuff. But how about a few more skill updates? major ones? that aren't dartboard nerfs and buffs? I mean the rit and mes updates were cool. But it's been what 7 months on this derv update? I hear that there will be all sorts of cool stuff in it and that it's more then just changing numbers around. But you used to come out with whole new campaigns in that time.

There are so many things wrong with OP's post that I don't know where to begin...

First of all, its pretty much 100% confirmed that ANET will in fact release GW2.
Why? Well if you've been paying attention the past 4 months, we've gotten more info on the game in this short amount of time than the past 3 years combined. This includes, and is not limited to: over 100 articles and interviews, the reveal of 4 out of the 8 professions in the game, a live demo at Gamescon and NewYork ComicCon, and contests on social networking sites (such as facebook) to give away GW2 merchandise.

They've also been releasing GW:Beyond content which you can play in GW1 which fills in some lore/story that will lead to further events in the 250 years between GW1 and GW2.

Most GW1 players who have left to other games have in fact said that they are only leaving till GW2 is released, so theres no issue when it comes to "will old players return?"

Also, this thread would be better used on GW2guru since you mainly seem to want to talk about that. But I suggest not starting a new thread because like this site, there is a search function which will bring up maybe 20 or so threads with the exact same question/complaint.

I'm closing this thread:

- This "discussion" seems like it would belong on Guild Wars 2 Guru rather than here.
- Guild Wars Guru can not promise any Developer response, as this is a fansite. If you wish to have a developer response you will need to go through the developer's channels (ie go to their website and use the "Contact us"section/means there).
