Anyone else fooled by a measure for measure?
Asia Skyly
I do not recall all of the specific details, but two times I have been supremely shocked by the outcome of salvaging a gold R9+ weapon on which I had applied a measure for measure. In one instance I got a whooping 4 iron ingots. In the other, I got 2 iron ingots.
Anyone else experience such abysmal results?

i usually use mine on conches
the usual outcome is around 60-100+ dust so far ive experienced

i always gotten from 15-150 of a mat. i only get shocked if i dont get the one mat i want and get a rare from a item im trying to salvage. like ruby from a ruby dagger instead of dust. xD
lisa night dk
probably bc u used the "normal" salvage kit instead of "Experts"
Mr. Blarx
Conches = lots of dust
Dolyak prod staff = lots of dust (not as much as conches though) or iron
Ruby weapons = rare chance of ruby/rubies, fair amount of granite
Bramble weapons = chance of fair amount of plant fibres
Great inscription I never got just 4 or 2 mats :/ low req. nightfall drops by any chance? gotta learn to read.

This is actually quite possible as I usually carry the cheapest as well as the Superior Salvage kits. Maybe I accidentally used the cheap version?
Spiritz
salvage kits do same amount - only sup kits give rare mats chance.
its more likely a glitch - hm items salv more than nm .

Got a gold inscribable granite hammer last night. Can't wait to put a MfM on it and hit it with a regular salvage kit. ka-CHING!
(sorry, that was an anecdote, not an answer to a question... to answer the OP's question: no, i've never gotten terrible results like that unless the item was from Istan or whatnot.)

Voodoo Rage
I once put a M4M on an R9 Diamond Aegis and it salvaged into a SINGLE pile of dust. My theory was that I managed to hit the "max" salvage number and it "roll over" to the 1. Or I was just super unlucky.
SpyderArachnid
I've found that if I ID an item that has the inscription on it, then salvage it, I get bonus mats off it.
But if I salvage the inscription and put it on a different item, I get nothing.
In my experience, it only works for the item it was on originally. But that's just from my experience.

Kronk_Shaan
I have had this happen with expert and sup salvage kits, but usually it's like 13 granite or 11 dust or something instead of some awesome number. I thought it was just that I was unlucky...although, that part could still be true.
Premium Unleaded
I always figured items that have a chance to salvage super rare materials like gems could alternatively salvage into crap amounts of normal stuff, to balance it out.

"The Superior Kit does not have any added effect in comparison to an Expert Salvage Kit other than its additional uses." from wiki

Interesting possibility! I will keep an eye on that in the future. Thanks for pointing that out.

This happened to me a couple days ago and I was thinking of starting a competition thread for who got the worst salvage. hahaha
Asia Skyly
I do not have the screen shot, but mine was 2!!
The interesting part, at least to me, is that I only had these miserable results in DoA!
I am going to stick with your theory that it was simply bad luck, but I find it odd that it is always with DoA golds.

Captain Bulldozer
I have definitely noticed that the returns from an old school highly salvageable (but not inscriptable) drop are a lot better than those from something with a M4M inscription. But then, that's not really what you asked I suppose. So, to answer your real question, yes I've had that happen too, but have never gotten such a low amount as 2 or 3 mats. Usually its more like 10 or so (when its crappy... which seems often to me).

As with all drops and salvage, it comes down to luck and chance.
Until recently, I'd never had a Superior Vigor rune drop Sure, i'd unlocked it with faction years ago, but never gotten one as a drop. Then, a few weeks ago I finally got one, off a Plagueborn armor that dropped at the end of Vizunah square mission. According to /age at that point I'd played for 4200 hours over 65 months.

Carboplatin
I've always used regular salvaged kits and got a good amount of materials from them, never 2-4.
bad luck?
bad luck?
Chrisworld
Bad luck. But don't worry, happens to me too. It varies. I will also get large amounts sometimes too. Just remember to always use an expert/superior kit on the item and you're bound to hit a large amount sooner or later.
LifeInfusion
I got 2 dust off a diamond aegis once. Measure for measure on things like granite hammers or whatever has gotten me 50-60 of dust/granite/iron.
Keep in mind it's easier to max unlucky than lucky...

I can't recall ever getting burned by a Measure for Measure, though. It's probably happened, but it didn't lodge itself in my mind.
HeavyTank
i got a amber chunk once from a wand with the mod in it.
other than that no nothing of note really, just larger piles of common crafting mats

Cursed by Grenth
its called bad luck,
I had ruby daggers,
I inscript it with M4M,
I salvage with expert salvage kit
I get 1 ruby.

Thats what i meant darcy - i always get sup and expert mixed.
The only diff between a standard kit and expert kit is the ability for rare mats and ripping runes/insc otherwise both can be used to get same amount of materials.

Voodoo Rage
I had totally forgotten about the "basic" salvage kit until recently. I was ending up with over a stack of steel and other rare materials when I really needed common stuff like iron, wood, and tanned hides. Now I use the common salvage kit on nearly everything.
dagrdagaz
I thought the item's identified base price relates to the amount of salvage items u get from it.
The higher the (identified) base price the more salvaged items.
This does not include the higher sell value mod.
I only put MfM on golds with a high base price, wich in comparison should increase the amount of salvaged items gotten with MfM.
