Loving my perma, never made on before and now he's lvl 11 thinking of runeing him up but don't know what to go for/how much these cost.

Am I looking at all Knight's or all survivor? both?
Obviously i'll want a swordsmanship (i take it minor is the best you can get/need in pre) but what else is good.

All this guy will be doing now is char hunting so won't need elemental protection right?

For a Warrior, standard setup is 4 Survivors with a Stonefist. I don't know if you can get Stonefist in pre though. Also, for ANY physical and MOST casters, the highest rune you'll ever want is Minor (except for Vigor, which of course you want the highest you can afford). Health is much MUCH more important than a few extra damage or whatever else.

My suggestion for you:

1. Survivor + Minor ______
2. Survivor + Vigor
3. Stonefist + Minor Strength
4. Survivor + Vitae
5. Survivor + Vitae

Or you can put a Survivor on the hands and Stonefist only on any headpiece that you expect to carry KD skills (so a hammer headpiece would be Stonefist + Minor Hammer).

Hope it helps!

BTW, you should remember, this is pre. If he wants to use a sword, stonefist won't be of any use. Since the dmg you will take as a warrior (especially when your lv gets high) will be pretty low, in pre it is better to use knight's insignia on every piece. If you can find a rune of minor absorbtion that will help too. Since skill choice is pretty low in pre too, healing signet will most likely be usefull and +1 tactics would help. I'd say :

1. knights + minor sword/axe/hammer (depending on which you want to use ofc)
2. knights+ minor vigor (it is the only one available in pre)
3. knights + minor strength
4. knights + minor tactics
5. knights+ minor absorbtion/vitae

You can still consider stonefist on a hammer headpiece. Also, if you have the game of the year version of the game, using /bonus will net you a max dmg hammer, which you should use if you can. Else sword or axe will be your better choices.

My perma-pre W/R, has 5 knights insigs, strength, tactics, swordsmanship, vigor and attunement runes. Uses Sundering(20/18) Rinblade of Charrslaying(18%). Bow = Poisonous Nevermore Flatbow of Charrslaying(14%) Accepted Ranger as secondary, with pet.

lvl 16 & 14%

Atts.

Swords = 5+1+1
Str = 2+1
Tacs = 7+1 = +130 heal
WS = 5 = +5 hp regen
Marks = 9 = max bow damage - for pulling and killing those that won't pull from nearby groups.

Charr hunting is pretty easy, even though the occasional bad spawn will give some minor trouble. I rarely use the imp, as it does frequently over aggro.
I did start solo Charr hunting at lvl 8 with no runes or insigs. Took 3 hours and around 20 deaths to clear the Northlands my first time through. Now, "boss runs" takes less than 10 minutes and full clears roughly 30 minutes.

This isn't BAD general advice...

But (outside of pre, where it's irrelevant) it's also not the best advice. Your choice between minor, major and superior should be based on WHY you're using the rune, i.e. what attributes and skills from within those attributes are you using?

The truth is that once you're in HM, a few extra seconds, or a slightly greater effect, from the right enchantment/hex/skill will go a LOT further than 50 or 75 hp.

A few things lol! before you start spamming in Ascalon City

1) there are only minors in pre.
2) there are no stonefist insignia's in pre
3) don't forget to get the collector helmet from Yakkington.

In pre you can find blue and purple weapons. But only blue unid salvage items.

Insignia list:

http://www.presearing.com/index.php?...58&Item id=54

runes list:

http://www.presearing.com/index.php?...61&Item id=54

I have a LDoA warrior in pre. I'm using this:

knight insignia + minor swordmanship on my helm
knight insignia + minor strength
knight insignia + minor tactics
knight insignia + minor vigor (wich is expensive)
knight insignia + rune of vitea.

Knight insignia's to counter the damage done by Charr hunters. and the rest speaks for itself! And get another helm from Yakkington if you want some variety in your playstyle.

knight insignia + axe mastery (sometimes axes are used for farming. Cyclone axe)

knight insignia + hammer mastery (worth it if u have the green bonus hammer. less defense tho. I would play with sword n shield untill ur exp in the Northlands. Hammer also speeds up the charr killing after DL)

Hope this is helpfull

I got my LDoA on W/R, I ran knights insig on him. I experimented with Survivor runes... I didn't like it as much. But also... I was using a bow, so I lacked a shield. So either knights or Survivor, they're both okay.

...I think you're incorrect and should spend some more time on these forums.

And listen more to the folks who have pre characters. I'm painfully unaware of what skills, runes, and insignia are available there, so just take my first response as a general guide.

HM would be funny in pre...imagine the weapon and armor drops (not to mention the cost of the salavaged items).

I think I would probably spend the time on other things, if I had it. And I think it would be a little less snobbish of you to explain your reasoning, or even to point me in the general direction of some previous discussion on the matter.

But what do I know? I'm just some noob, right?

Anyway, this is based primarily on my own experience, on mesmer, rit, and necro. So I never claimed mine was the definitive answer. But if you can afford a superior vigor, the health loss from one superior attribute rune is not going to make you the prime target while standing in the midline.

Anyways back to the conversation about pre searing........

I use to have an Ldoa before i got banned. have you thought about a secondary profession yet? as you are a war, i would suggest ranger. As you are getting closer and closer to being able to kill char efficiently for EXP. Troll ung, and a pet to tank some dmg is a GREAT help in soloing runs. also if you have access to the game of the year, nevermore flatbow, W/R with bow skills is HAWT for boss runs when you hit level 14-16 when you will only gain exp from the bosses.
