Hello I am brand new to Guild Wars, but not MMO's in general, I have played everything from Diablo 1 and 2 to UO to Everquest 1 and 2 (Did not care for WoW sorry..) anyways my point is I "get" the general idea but I am stuck on one major thing..

I noticed the material and rune traders but I have not seen a trade market for players anywhere. I am as far as Lions Arch. I have several dyes and weapons Id like to sell but how can I do that? Thanks.

End Noob Moment... Please be nice..

this i can tell you, in the area of the merchant in Lions Arch, ( this may not be right but the dye trader is in that little area) i think the dye trader is two npcs to the right of the merchant if you are face to face with the merchant.

Kamadan American 1 is the main trade hub. It's the main town for the Nightfall campaign. Basically type WTS/WTB xxx and post it every 5 minutes or so to get the attention of other people.

You can also use the party search screen, try pushin 'P' when in town.

Or use the auction on this site, or the trade forums.

Yeh GW lacks a Auction house or something like that. So like Arduin said: Most items are sold by spamming WTS/WTB (insert item) in Kamadan or Lion's arch. Also, the american districts are mostly used for trading.

Also. don't spend time selling dyes, unless you have black (~9k) or white (~4k) dyes. You can't sell the other dyes for alot of money, so it's better to "merch" (sell it to a npc) it.

I believe OP is asking if there is an Auction house type system.

If I'm correct in thinking this, then the answer is "no". There is no auction house.
All trades are done face-to-face with other players. Say what you want to sell/buy in the Trade-chat and wait for people to reply with a whisper message.
The two most common places where trades take place is Lion's Arch and Kamadan, the latter being the most densely populated with traders.

As has been said, Kamadan AD1 is the main trading city for GW. That being said if you only have Prophecies, Lion's Arch is just about as good as you're going to get for trade.

You could try Temple of the Ages, but most people there are too busy attempting to form SC groups that they won't take notice of your sell messages unless they're concerning something in demand and directly interesting to SCers like an Earth BDS.

You'll struggle to sell dyes outside of Black or White, you'll also struggle to sell most weapons to players in game unless they're considered quite rare (if you need help Price Checking something make a post on the PC forums here on Guru). If you would like to sell more general low cost items, you should consider making a thread in the Low End Sell section here on Guru as its probably your best opportunity for getting something sold.

Secret of selling to other players is to check out what people are asking for then when your sure of a steady market go looking for those items.

If you just try to sell what items you happen to have on you then sell to a merchant dye trader rune trader etc.

Selling to players means standing around for a fair time repeatedly typing wts xxxxx "wants to sell xxxxx"
Why do that when you can take a smaller but instant profit and go play the game.

Successful trading is knowing what's valuable and wanted.

Materials that are needed for quests sell well near where those quests are obtained.
Materials that are used for elite armours or for the consumables used by players.

Good luck and have fun

Well, since you're at Lion's Arch, if you have all your campaigns linked on your account, you should be able to pick up the quest "Sunspears in Kryta," which will give you access to Nightfall/Kamadan. You can map there just to trade, and then map back to Lion's Arch when you wish to continue playing and learning.

If you are unsure on prices of things, we have a forum for price checks. It also lists common sale items and prices on those as well.

Make sure what you are selling is worth something as well.

And most importantly, make sure you are using the TRADE channel to sell stuff in. Don't use Local like some like to do. It just gets you reported.

Ventari's Corner is an excellent place to buy and sell on the forums.

Be sure to read the Ventari Corner Guidelines 1st though to avoid getting into trouble. ;-)

GWEstimator is also a good page to check and learn more about prices as it basically logs all trade chat in Kamadan American District 1.
