Soooo
Today I get a pm...Some person asking if there is a way to block my avatar from showing up. Now as far as I know the only way to do this is to:
1) Hide all avatars
or
2) and I'm not even sure it works...add the person onto your ignore list...
Just a little idea that a little feature like this might be useful esspecially if anyone remembers Zanagi Kazuhiko's old avatar...I think I will never recover from that...
But yeah just a little thing that could avoid the stupidity of ignoring someone because their avatar looks stupid (less chances to be a jerk to said people if you aren't reading their posts (v)uhahahaha) or blocking everyones pretty self expressions that odds are someone else made
Maybe this feature already exists. I have not done an in-depth study of the user CP...I mean I suppose you could just block your browser from loading the image but meh. Would be cool to see...just sayin.
Hide individual avatar

Yeah, the person would have to hide all avatars.
If a person's avatar is sketchy, it can be reported, but other than that I don't see a reason why we would need to implement something like this.

There is a way to hide individual avatars on the user side, but discussion of the extension in question is forbidden on Guru. It's actually very simple to do. There may be alternative methods or other extensions that do the same thing that I am unaware of. Send me a PM if you haven't guessed what I'm (not) talking about, or if you'd like further information.
In Opera, you can just right click to bring up the context window, and select "Block Content." Hold shift and click any image to set a custom rule to block a particular image from displaying.
There are probably other methods for other browsers, but I don't use any others unless I have to. Blocking individual images is trivial.

I think being able to turn off all avatars is sufficient. Along with reporting inappropriate avatars.
Either live with the ones that you dislike that don't violate the rules or turn them all off.
That being said. I'm always for more ability. I certainly would be happy to turn off that Kimbo Slice avatar. Oy, that guy freaks me out even when he has a shirt on...

Yes, as far as vBulletin software goes, no. The other option would be for a new usergroup to be made that doesn't allow custom avatars and to move the user to that group... Which is a bit silly really :/ Best to stick with the reporting anything that's offensive (which is how it should be anyway, no?)

Ehh I dun really need it...
just thought it would be useful.
Yes MisterB. I know...but I really don't want to have to take the time walking the guy through it.
Bellatrixa, I thought there was something added awhile ago that allowed this...I guess could be wrong.
